Buying Gen I./Gen III. remake besides nostalgic reasons at all? I mean, the almost whole Kanto region is included in Heartgold/Soulsilver, is it not?

Well, the experience of Kanto in Gen I/III and Gen II/IV is considerably different. Being three years later and having already conquered a region changes how you view and play Kanto in GS/HGSS. They are different games with different stories to tell and different adventures to experience.
Also, there are some things exclusive to FRLG, such as the Sevii Islands.
So I would say there's just as much of a point in getting FRLG as there is in any of the games from Gen III onwards (The first two Gens would be heavily for nostalgic reasons I guess).

From listening to PokeTubers; it could be Marriland influenced, (on YouTube of course), there is nothing really to be remade (I am bad at summarizing what so-and-so said), so I'm just hoping that there is going to be a sequel sort of thing just like BW2 and there could be something new and fresh added to Hoenn. I want new outfits for everyone! Like n years later, Team Aqua and Team Magma are at each other's throats again, Wally gets to play a bigger role in the games, and player gets to meet Black/White protagonist since he/she, are out of Unova (location searching atm not specified), searching for the legendary N! *in a sassy accent* Someone needs to give that boy a Xtransceiver.

It really depends on why you play Pokemon.

If you really like the main plot of the games, go for it.

If you're a competitive battler, there's a handful of tutor moves that aren't otherwise available.

But if you're more looking for Pokemon to capture, all of Kantos Pokemon are available in Gen 4 except Mewtwo, who got an event in Gen 5 and is in the Gen 6 games.

I'm playing FR and Emerald at the mo. I used to play Silver (haven't touched it in a while because gen 3 is far superior in many ways) and the difference between Kanto then(gen 1/3) and after (gen2/4) is huge. The story and some maps/areas are completely different, as are the available mons. And later, should you wish to transfer to gen 4 games, if you have the DS then so much the better for you.

Playing Gen I (Red, Blue(green) and Yellow) or Gen II (Gold, Silver, and Crystal) is more for nostalgia and for the story's both gens bring. Gen I happens, you have some fun and defeat Team Rocket, The sprites are not great but the game is fun. Gen II comes around and it is 3 years later and they are trying to bring back Team Rocket but in a different region, there are new mons and again it is fun. In comes Gen III and since the data structure is completely different the mons you caught in Gen I and II are stuck over there. This sux too as I had a legit Mew on my silver... Until the battery died. Anywhoo Sapphire and Ruby and later Emerald didnt have all the mons from Gen I and II catchable in the game, and this upset a few fans until FR and LG came out, this brought us back to the original story but it is not the same, there are new things to do in FR and LG over the originals. This is prolly due to the greater abilities of the GBA, which does not bother me at all it made playing the remake new again. Similar story, a couple new things, players that were babies when RBY were new are now old enough to play (more money for Nintendo!) so all are happy, and now to make it even better we can migrate our mons to the newer generation games so they are not lost to the where ever it is data goes to die place. This makes playing the Gen III games more than nostalgic, it makes them relevant if you want to collect all mons for a 100% pokedex.

I say play the Gen I and II games, they are fun but remember that the time you spend on those will not count for future generation games, like playing the remakes will.

Yeah. I loved the first 2 gens, but My brother gave away my red version and took back his blue. I gave silver to a friend, and Gold and Crystal don't save. So I settled for yellow, but it wasn't the best game. I love the remakes ! It is different, but it gives just as much nostalgia. I miss seeing the back of my Totodile as I sent him to battle, but with Soul Silver, I can use him again. And it has the Pikachu like function of yellow! I loved exploring the Sevii islands in FR/ LG, and I like using Blast Burn to light enemy Vileplumes and Venusaurs on fire. Plus, they have natures and abilities. so yeah. I love the remakes just as much as the originals.

As far as whether or not FRLG is worth it, I'd say so. There's more to do in Kanto than there is in GSCHGSS, and FRLG has some neat post game areas.

But I don't think RBY should be remade again unless they're doing a BW2 style sequel. There's more that can be done with Kanto, but not if they insist on redoing the same region design and plot ad nauseum.

But if you're more looking for Pokemon to capture, all of Kantos Pokemon are available in Gen 4 except Mewtwo, who got an event in Gen 5 and is in the Gen 6 games.

Actually, Mewtwo is catchable in HGSS, you can re-enter Cerulean Cave and catch him there at Lv. 70. In fact, every 1st and 2nd gen Pokemon is catchable in HGSS in some way.

Really I just bought Red and plan to buy the remakes too. I have Crystal and will buy the Johto remakes too.

I have HeartGold but would still want to buy FireRed. Although the Kanto Region is included in HeartGold, the FireRed version's is different and it has the Sevii Islands.
