I have no previous experience with competitive battling, but I wanted to enter my regional video game tournament, so I'm trying to build a team for that. I have looked into what pokemon are good with what movesets, and I thought of this little starting strategy. It seems good on paper, but I'm not sure how legit it will actually be when I'm using it.

Bronzong
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Sassy
EVs: 252 HP / 62 Atk / 104 Def / 92 SpD
Item: Light Clay
~ Light Screen
~ Reflect
~ Trick Room
~ Gyro Ball

Shuckle
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpD
Item: Life Orb
~ Power Trick
~ Stone Edge
~ Earthquake
~ Withdraw

The idea is pretty simple. On the first turn, Bronzong will use Trick Room and Shuckle will use Power Trick. Now Shuckle has the highest base attack in the game, and the lowest base speed in the game, allowing it to go first after trick room. Then Shuckle is free to use earthquake without hurting Bronzong, and Bronzong will use Reflect and Light Screen if it survives long enough.

Does this strategy have a chance, or will it be easily foiled?

first of all, give light clay to Bronzong. First both Reflect and Light screen. After that (one the third turn) use trick room. Now switch in to shuckle and use one of these (fourth slot) to increase the chaces of survival: Withdraw (raises defense one stage, if you're in a double battle use this one and withdraw three times while bronzong is setting up)/ Sandstorm (raises special defense of shuckle and does damage to opponent) or acupressure (raises a random stat two stages, only use if you're feeling really lucky). I'd go for sandstorm. Now use power trick and hope that shuckle survives the incoming hit. Now sweep. You can give shuckle a focus sash if you're afraid it'll get killed in one hit, or else an expert belt/ life orb or something.

I was thinking about starting with Hippowdon for the sandstorm anyway, so I've kind of been thinking about options for the rest of my team with sandstorm/trick room in mind. The problem with that is that it will be a double battle, so I'll have nothing useful to do with Shuckle for the next 2 turns after I use sandstorm. Withdraw does sound like a good idea, as it will boost his attack even more after I use power trick. I don't think that focus sash will work out, because I can't imagine a situation in which Shuckle won't get hit for 3 turns, unless I give him protect, so I'll probably give him a life orb.

uhm, only your stats are swapped after pwoer trick, but not your stat boosts, so withdraw will just raise defense. But this is usefull, since after power trick shuckle will have very low defenses, and some extra defense boosts might help him survive. And if you're going to use hippowdon to create a sandstorm then send him out with bronzong first, then let bronzong use reflect, switch out hippowdon for shuckle, use light screen with bronzong and withdraw with shuckle and then tirck room/ power trick. And about Bronzong, I think it would be usefull to invest his EV's in defense and Sp. Defense a lot, since he needs to be on the battlefield for at least three turns without getting killed.
