I have no previous experience with competitive battling, but I wanted to enter my regional video game tournament, so I'm trying to build a team for that. I have looked into what pokemon are good with what movesets, and I thought of this little starting strategy. It seems good on paper, but I'm not sure how legit it will actually be when I'm using it.
Bronzong
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Sassy
EVs: 252 HP / 62 Atk / 104 Def / 92 SpD
Item: Light Clay
~ Light Screen
~ Reflect
~ Trick Room
~ Gyro Ball
Shuckle
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpD
Item: Life Orb
~ Power Trick
~ Stone Edge
~ Earthquake
~ Withdraw
The idea is pretty simple. On the first turn, Bronzong will use Trick Room and Shuckle will use Power Trick. Now Shuckle has the highest base attack in the game, and the lowest base speed in the game, allowing it to go first after trick room. Then Shuckle is free to use earthquake without hurting Bronzong, and Bronzong will use Reflect and Light Screen if it survives long enough.
Does this strategy have a chance, or will it be easily foiled?
