I'm currently working on my first EV-training attempt in the form of the Riolu egg Riley gives you in Platinum. Everything has gone just fine untill now, where I've encountered my first issue.

I was leveling a bit fast fighting 30ish Pokemon around route 210 for Atk points, so I decided to catch up on my total EVs at Orebrough, fighting level 5-7 Machops as a 35 Lucario. I defeated 46 of them, and 46/4 = 11 rounded down. So I should have gotten 11 atk on leveling, right?

I only got 2. Where did those 9 go? Am I doing something wrong, or must you gather EP off of pokemon around your pokemon's level?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe you miscalculated or you already maxed out your Attack.

Next time, post this in the Simple Questions thread in the Video Games section.

Ah, thanks for the tip. I read the rules, and it said mechanics of the game are allowed here. Figured this worked.

I really doubt I maxed his attack wtihout a Macho brace/ the Poke Virus this early. I calculated it on the serebii IV calculator and I should have about 88 EP in it right now, after the 30 Atk IV he has is taken into effect.

I dunno, maybe I did max it out. Because I didn't miscalculate, otherwise every major guide out there would be wrong as well.

You don't get all the stats from EV training at once (as in, the first time you level up). You get them gradually over every level until your Pokemon reaches level 100. Buy then it will have gained all the extra stats it should have received from EV training.

Thank you, I assumed this as much. I started training Speed and my Attack continued to level up by 3 every level, so I assumed this was the reasoning. I guess grinding for three hours while watching actual Pokemon to remenise on my past kind of caused me to lose count on a few EVs.

This is more for finding real world reasons for the in-game mechanics. Specific discussion of those mechanics and how they actually work as far as the games are concerned belongs in the Video Games forum. Moving.
