Items/Pokemon that you habitually horde

I was curious about something. Over the time the games have existed, there have been a number of rare/hard-to-find Pokemon and items. I was wondering, what kinds of items and/or Pokemon do you habitually horde when given the chance? And, no, I don't mean Shiny Pokemon, I mean certain species of Pokemon.

An example (and probably the most infamous) are TMs prior to Gen V. Since they were all one-shot uses, and some of the more powerful ones were harder/rarer to obtain (Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Earthquake, you get it). That's probably a big example for me. I actually used several games (Gen IV ones, to be exact), to trade/transfer various TMs back and forth as needed, gathering them up in one place so I'd have easy access to them. I was fortunate enough to buy a used Platinum once that had been tampered with a cheat device to have 99 units of all TMs, along with 999 units of almost every item bar ones likes stones, Heart Scales, or other evolutionary items.

Another item example for me would be PP Ups/Maxes. While in Gens I and II I didn't think much of them, probably because I didn't really understand them at the time, by Gen III I started to horde them as much as possible. But since both are extremely limited to begin with, I had to use the ones I had wisely. Now, in Gen VI, thanks to all those Wonder Trades, the ID Lotto has given me greater access to both items. I currently have over 25 PP Ups and 7 PP Maxes from the ID Lotto, not including ones I've already used, which would probably bring the total closer to 35/10, respectively. Now that I no longer really need them (or that many, anyway, though it doesn't stop me from checking the ID Lotto anyway), I plan to transfer a large portion of them over to ORAS to kick-start my games.

Recently, since Gen IV, Heart Scales are a biggie for me. Now that Pokemon have wider move pools, and oftentimes fully-evolved Pokemon learn some of their best moves via relearning them, Heart Scales have become a must-have. Whenever I can find a Luvdisc or use places like the Sinnoh Underground, I search for those Heart Scales with a vengeance. I like to keep a large collection of them on-hand in case I do some mixing and matching of moves and ideas. So when I get an opportunity to collect large numbers of them, I do so.

In terms of Pokemon, ones like Drilbur, the Elemental Monkeys, Feebas, Gible (Gen IV), Gligar (Gen IV), Snorunt, Riolu (Gen V), and various Starters I tend to horde. Most of them are for comparing and contrasting among each other, seeing which one would work best with my team, as well as having various options at my disposal if needed. Also, due to the fact that some, like Gible and Riolu, can be found in only one place in whatever region they are in, I tend to catch as many as possible.

That sums up some of my hoarding habits. What are some of yours?

I actively try to avoid using Max Revives & never use Rare Candies, so always have lots at the end of a game. I don't know if that really counts as hoarding

I used to never use Rare Candies, I was keeping them for higher level pokemons. But one day I just thought screw it and gave a pokemon like 10 levels at once :)
Now it's just Masterballs that I'm hoarding. I always keep them for shinies and such, I think I have like 4 now in Diamond (1 from itself, 1 Heartgold, 1 firered, 1 emerald).

I mostly hoard Repels. I only use them when I really need to (i.e. when my Pokes are in no shape to battle), and I find a lot of them walking around. So I usually end up with a lot of unused Repels by the end of the game.

I hoard PP Ups. Thanks to a boatload of international trading and the Lumiose Lottery, I have about 20-something normal ones, and 4 PP Maxes. Max Revives are hoarded until a do-or-die emergency, usually during the storyline. After the Elite Four's vanquished (sometimes after the second time), I'll end up using them for no reason at all.

I like to keep at least a dozen box legends and roamers in my PC as trade fodder. I sometimes get lucky and find shiny Pokemon on the GTS, and the request sometimes is an ordinary legend.

Ever since I played Pokemon, stones and berries are the usual I collect. It is important for me to have every stones and berries in my bag and I am just staring at it(LOL). For me it is a collection and a necessities at the same time(especially for the stones). There is also a time that I refuse to use the stones.

As for Pokemon, I am not that particular with types of Pokemon but it is very important for me to have Mewtwo and Charizard in every game because these two are my favorites. Also the Eevee evolutions and the Gen 1 Pokemon. Because I started in Gen 1, it is now a trend for me to have them all in every game.

I hoard Swablu. I don't realise it but I do, in my Emerald cartridge I have 7 boxes full of Swablu and the same in my Black and White ones, too.

I make sure I have a stock of heart scales just in case.

But why...? Breeding?

I shiny hunt/breed, ja, but every other Pokemon I do I get rid of once I find it's not a shiny or I finish up that Pokemons hunt :'P, Swablu is the only one I've kept! xD XD

I have a tendency to hoard Master Balls and will go out of my way to trade with players on the GTS to score some extras. I only use them for the roaming type Legends or for a shiny I'm afraid that I won't be able to catch. I also hoard Max Revives as they are only meant for one Pokemon on my team--my Golurk Riser. I also hoard Rare Candies as well.

As for hoarding Pokemon: well, we all know the main one that I hoard! I have boxes of Automatons, shiny and non. Some were pity cases and others were breeding scraps. I love them all. I also hoard Pawniard and Bisharp, as I'm rather fond of them and Greninja as well.

I always catch Pikachu's and Eevee's when I come across them, as well as starters in Friend Safari.

Usually I stocked up some Ethers and Elixirs ONLY when I'm facing the E4 and The Champion.

I have access to cheat devices but refuse to cheat for any reason before I've completed the main game, so Rare Candies, Elixirs, and Ethers are hoarded by me, like in FireRed right now for example. I remember the Indigo League being hard when I played LeafGreen two years ago so I need to be well prepared.

Rare Candies are actually team balancers for me, if I have a Pokemon that's considerably under leveled compared to my other's heading into the league, I'll target them and maybe my ace with Candies.

The exact same thing happened to me. used Platinum all TMs x99. There was also several event legendaries and an Azure Flute but it had been used and since it's a key item i couldn't trade.

Since long ago, I have hoarded berries. I don't know why, but I love them— even now on X I have many many berries. Something about their animation has always struck me as adorable. Perhaps it was because of my many long days and nights of playing Silver? Having to collect the berries to make Pokéballs? The fact that I never seemed to make many? Anyway, I do still find them handy to have.

I also collect Premier balls. I currently have one hundred ninety-two in X alone. Besides traditional Pokéballs and Kurt's custom Pokéballs, they are my favorite. From their sleek design (well, it is round...) and their color combination, I love them. It is quite obsessive, but I don't care~

Also, right now, I am breeding for a shiny Spinda. I have many many Spindas and I don't want to trade them all because each one is unique. In fact, I have bred over two hundred Spindas and reluctantly traded some. I am to the point where I have one box full. But hey! I got my first six IV pokemon ever~

Oh! And Growlithes! I hoard those. I adore Arcanine, and these little guys are my stepping stones to getting a six IV Arcanine.

But yeah, it any of y'all wanna give a Spinda a good home, PM me ;)

Bulbasaurs and Eevees. I have several boxes of each in every game from forgotten shiny breeding attempts and never bothered releasing them. And a ridiculous amount of berries to make Poffins in Pearl.
