It's Poffin time!

Whether spicy or sweet, every type of poffin is loved by some Pokemon in Sinnoh. I was wondering if any of you have thought about making your own types of Poffin, and how you would do that? Would it be more of a macaron or a muffin? What are your thoughts?
 
I always interpreted them as similar to the Cantonese sou... without the meat, of course. That's just how they look to me. There are plenty of poffin recipes on the internet but I haven't tried any - one day I shall!
 
I thought so too, in the games, whenever you have to stir the pot to make the poffins, but then in the anime, they were like cookies or macarons. Here is a picture of Dawn with a bowlful of poffins, but I don't know

I was at a panel at one geek convention where they gave away "poffins" as consolation prizes for the games they played. They looked like those fruit jelly tart cookies.
