Seeing that my niece keeps getting sick I've figured I'd talk about sickness, & how often people get them.

So...

- How often or seldom do you guys get sick?

- Likewise, is your immediate family prone to getting sick?

- Do you or someone else you know go out of their way to keep things clean & sanitized so that the risks are brought down as low as possible?

- What type of sickness do you always end up getting, if anything?

Of course, there's plenty more that can be talked about that I haven't mentioned here, so don't be afraid to bring that up as well.

1. On average, once a year, excepting allergies (but those are never that bad for me).

2. Yes, much more than I am, especially my dad (his allergies are also far worse than mine).

3. I certainly try to do what I can to avoid getting sick. Lots of hand-washing (though I'd be doing that anyway; it's an OCD-like tendency of mine), wiping down sufaces, wearing gloves at work, etc.

4. Typically just a standard cold. I've had some more eventful illnesses in the past, but not many. I had something two years ago that was a lot harder than a cold, but I'm not really sure what it was. Rarely, I'll find myself with a one-day stomach bug, which are miserable, but tolerably brief.

I almost never get sick. I've had one friend who would purposefully try to get me sick (stealing some of my food when she would never share food with anyone else, having me try a new game on her computer for hours when she was already sick and the computer was covered in germs) and not gotten sick.

For the most part, I get a cold for at most 24 hours, if not just like an hour or two. The flu lasts about three days for me instead of the normal 2-3 weeks. I did have bronchitis once for months but I was sick for maybe a month and was fine afterwards except coughing up rubbish for several months (I mean I felt fine otherwise). I also work in a lab where we work with bacteria and stuff and I'm still fine~ I do have a crapton of allergies, mostly to nature, but I've never had anaphylaxis so I don't worry about it too much. I just have a 24/7 stuffy nose. Eh.

My immediate family gets sick more often than I do, yeah. Most people get sick more often than I do.

I'm kinda OCD about washing my hands with antibacterial soap (because I literally have OCD), but as for cleaning like an OCD person I only really do that at work, and it's mandatory there anyway so it's all good. I don't use that hand sanitiser alcohol stuff even though it's all over the place at work, I don't obsessively change my gloves at work or anything.

I get sick about 1 to 2 times a year, for about a day or two. With the rare occasion in which I'm sick for longer. I mostly get the stomach bug and acid reflux, accompanied by diarrhea. Acid reflux breath is the worst, no matter how small the burp the stench is very foul. I wait anxiously for myself to vomit, to relieve myself a bit. The whole ordeal sucks. But at least it's brief.

I remember being sick cost me perfect attendance during high school. I was on a prefect attendance streak since I entered 6th grade, and lasted until a few months into 11th. I was out for two days I think. And it pissed me off. I almost had perfect attendance for 7 years (2003 - 2010).

- How often or seldom do you guys get sick?
Rarely. I got sick often when I worked with kids because, you know, some of them don't practice proper hygeine techniques like washing their hands and some come to school barely recovering from being sick but are still contagious. I don't work with kids anymore and the last major flu bug I had was at the end of 2014. Haven't been sick since.

- Likewise, is your immediate family prone to getting sick?
My brother is. He gets the flu almost once every 5 months, it seems like. His immune system probably just isn't up to snuff since he's a very clean person, as is I. He does get sick more than anyone in my family.

- Do you or someone else you know go out of their way to keep things clean & sanitized so that the risks are brought down as low as possible?
Yeah, my whole family is like this. We are tidy creatures. Despite that, we do leave the house and we cannot control who we come in contact with. That's how we tend to get sick.

- What type of sickness do you always end up getting, if anything?
If I catch something, it is always the flu from someone else who has it or is recovering from it. I guess I caught so many bugs from the kids I worked with I developed an immunity to all types of viruses. I also frequently wash my hands.

I tend to be the last in my house to get sick and also the person who is the least contagious. In general, the contagious period passes pretty quickly for me. And it's always the flu.

Unfortunately, disinfectants and other disease-control efforts my family tries simply don't work. I always get sick if they do.
