Hi everybody. First post here, so forgive me if this one's posted in the wrong section. Please answer this annoying question (I've been posting it on other forums, but haven't got any answers)

I'm currently looking for the best possible Gligar regarding Iv's and nature. And although I know of breeding, I can't say that I'm very well skilled in that aspect of the game. I rather catch pokemon with the best possible IV's. Also; I definitely want to evolve Gligar, just to get that out of the way. I haven't bothered with a poison heal Gligar btw (too much hassle).

So far, I've caught 6 gligars with relatively good IV's, but I need feedback on which I should ultimately stick with. It's all really falls back on the best combination of nature's and IV's. I know I should go with either an impish or adamant nature, but it seems like mines don't have the preferable IV spread. But again, this is where help is needed. Abilities are a bonus, so you can semi-count them if you like.

Gligar with Jolly nature, Sand Veil abilty: Could be a great sweeper, but lacks bulk (with defense being mediocre and awful SpD).

HP: 25, 26
Attack: 21,22,23,24
Defense: 15,16,17,18,19
SpA: 22,23,24,25
SpD: 0,1,2,3
Speed: 27

Gligar with Careful Nature, Sand Veil: This one has the best Iv spread, but the nature is not the optimal one, although it could it's pretty solid defensively.

HP: 20,21,22,23,24
Att: 28
Def: 28
SpA: 10, 11, 12, 13
SpD: 20, 21, 22, 23, 24
Speed: 18,19,20,21

Gligar with Adamant Nature, Sand Veil: All around good Iv's but lacks speed and defense.

HP: 29, 30
Att: 21, 22, 23, 24
Def: 11, 12, 13, 14
SpA: 26, 27, 28, 29
SpD: 31
Speed: 5,6,7,8,9

Again, a Gligar with Adamant Nature, Hypper Cutter: Not the preferable ability and terrible defense.

HP: 24, 25
att: 24, 25
def: 7, 8
SpA: 20, 21
SpD: 30
Speed: 18, 19

The next one is a Gligar with an Impish nature and sand veil: Most horrific speed IV's I've ever seen. Puke-able, yes?

HP: 31
Att: 20, 21
Def: 17, 18
SpA: 30
SpD: 31
Speed: 0, 1

Last but not least; perhaps the Gligar with the most all around IV spread, but without anything too fancy. Sand Veil.

HP: 24, 25
att: 19, 20
def, 16, 17
SpA: 31
SpD: 13, 14
Speed: 16, 17

(These Gligars vary in level, so you'll se a different IV ratio)

I could've just dropped SpA, but they can't hurt.

Which one to choose???

Hope I'll get some answers on my grandiose dilemma here, and I'm sure I'll be back for more help.

You can pass a specific IV from a parent to offspring directly by giving a parent a specific power item to hold while breeding.

You didn't state genders,so I don't know which of them can breed with others ,but I'd do the following:

Take the 2nd one and give it a Power Belt. It also has good Attack so there's a chance it will transfer it as well. Then I'd take either the first one and give it Power Anklet or the third one and give it a Power Band.
And then breed. Sooner or later you should get one with good stats and the nature you prefer. If you don't have the patience for that just train the 1st or the 5th one.

Remember that, in most cases, Nature > IVs, unless you're dealing with an incredibly low stat like Blissey's Defence.

I'd either take the first or the third Gligar. The IVs are eh, but nature and ability combo let you make a Sand Viel sweeper with Sub / SD / Earthquake / Acrobatics @ Flying Gem. I would advice against getting the defenisve ones unless you got them on generation IV games, since you will have neither Stealth Rock nor Roost, both of which are important on non-Poison Heal Gliscors.

(By the way, if you have any more smaller questions, it might be best if you post them in the Simple Question/Answers Thread).

What genders are the Gligar? Because as @Igzz pointed out, if you give one of the "Power" items to a Pokémon and put it in the Daycare centre, it will pass down the IV related to that Power item.

After wasting a massive amount of my free time to catch a gliscor with outstanding IV's, I now know that the Gyarados I caught just recently with 31,30,29,28,30,29 was based on a healthy amount of luck. Never trying that again.

I didn't realize breeding was that simple. I might try that out. But when it comes to the rest of the IV's, say in case I breed the 2nd one with a power belt and the third one with a power band, how do they come up? Randomly?

Okay folks. These are the genders:

Nr 1: female
Nr 2: female

I want to clarify that these two are from generation IV. I'll nevertheless transfer them over to gen V

Nr 3: female
Nr 4: female
Nr 5: male
Nr 6: male (impish, forgot to mention that).

The breeding possibilities look slim fellas, but if you've got any suggestions, feel free to throw em out.

Really appreciate the replies. Didn't think someone would reply to such an annoying question (I know I wouldn't).

Assuming that only one of the parents holds a power item, that IV will definitely be passed down from that parent. Then the game will randomly select 2 out of the other 5 stats, and for each of them it will randomly decide which parent to take that stat's IV from. Then the remaining 3 IVs will be randomly generated.

If both parents hold power items then only one of them will work. In general you usually want one parent to hold an Everstone (to have a 50/50 bchance of passing down the desired nature) and the other to hold a suitable power item.

It is easier to get a pokemon with good IVs and so forth by breeding than by catching them in the wild - I am going out shortly or I would go into more detail.

Thank you very much sir. I have not been able to answer this short, but simple guide. But this alone gave me all I needed to breed pokemon correctly. I had no knowledge of it before, thought of it as a too complicated process, but now I breed frequently! So, once again. Thanks alot!

Breeding the perfect pokemon takes a long time. You might want to ask someone to RNG for you if possible. But out of the ones you have, I would go with the second, the bulky one. Never mind SpD, as long as its a good in Def and has decent Atk.
