Hi! Welcome to my blog!!

vine7.gif

In this thread I'll be mostly posting about plushies and other merch I've added to my collection and my thoughts on them! This is not limited to pokeplush and will also include build a bears and other miscellaneous plushies I add to my collection.

I'll also use this space to write my thoughts on any newly announced merch that interests me! Again, not strictly pokeplush related but expect that to be the main focus along with Build A Bear :D

First post woot!
Today I'll be rambling about the newly released frosted cookie themed animal plushies from Build A Bear!

The BAB community has actually known about these plushies (well, the full-size giraffe and camel at least) for a little while now thanks to a leak from back in January but they were only just officially announced a few days ago and released in the UK and US today.

Included in the collection is: Pink frosted giraffe, white frosted camel, white frosted giraffe mini bean, pink frosted camel mini bean, and a limited edition white frosted lion mini bean. Plus some new outfits.

I really love the look of these guys! I think the frosted animal concept is an interesting choice and helps to make them stand out a bit from some of the other stuff BAB has put out recently. I'll say they're definitely a step up from this years easter collection which I personally thought was pretty 'meh' overall. Another thing I enjoy is the colour palette of these plushies. The white and pink with the rainbow sprinkle effect looks great! The pink ones in particular remind me of the Arnott's hundreds and thousands biscuits we have here in Australia. My only nitpicks are that I wish the lion also got a full size version and that the outfits were a bit better quality. Otherwise I think this is a solid collection :)

They don't release in Australia until tomorrow but I plan on adding the lion and camel mini beans to my BAB collection. I won't be purchasing any of the full size ones this time round, as adorable as they are. I'm saving that space for a certain extraterrestrial themed bovine that might possibly be releasing soon ;)

The Mysterious Purple Halloween Kitty
------------

Idk I felt like talking about this so here we go!

Back in mid last year numerous upcoming BAB plushies were leaked on r/buildabear, most of them being from the 2025 Halloween collection that would be releasing in a few months time. People in the community were understandably excited, myself included, and we were all waiting for the release of these BABs with great anticipation. Three of the plushies stood out to me in particular, spooky kitty (or ghost kitty as the community referred to her as back then), the bat, and lastly the two legged purple cat pictured below.

Months went by and the Halloween collection was released. BAB fanatics rejoiced! Spooky kitty was a decently popular hit as to be expected, a skeleton capybara not featured in the leak was also released, the pumpkin and zombie axolotl bears were the unpopular ones, and the poseable bat became a huge hit with it selling out in most places within days thanks to it becoming unexpectedly popular on tiktok. It was a wild time to be a BAB collector.

But wait, something was missing? People active in the BAB community were all asking the same question. Where was that purple cat?
Everything else from the leaks was released as to be expected but that certain sassy purple kitty was MIA. Huh, odd? Perhaps she wasn't actually a Halloween release as people initially thought. Was she part of the Christmas collection maybe? Or was she a standalone plush not tied to any holiday in particular? BAB fans guessed but had no answers. All we could do was wait. Halloween came and went, then the Christmas themed bears were released. Still no sign of the missing purple kitty. 2026 rolled around, still nothing.

To this day the purple cat from the leak has never been released. It's assumed she was cancelled but for what reason? Her design was popular with fans and no doubt she would have sold well. People found it odd that they'd cancel her but release the (imo very mid) pumpkin bear and zombie axolotl. The popular theories are:

  • Because they already had the spooky kitty planned they didn't want to have two cats in the collection so they scrapped the second cat design. Seems plausible but why would they go through the effort of taking promo pics of the purple cat if they knew they already had spooky kitty planned instead? Wouldn't they have scrapped her sooner than that? Plus she was listed in the BAB birth certificate system (the leaked images originated from there) which makes this theory even less likely to be true. It's clear they were planning on releasing this cat.
  • That she had quality control issues and had to be scrapped last minute because of it. This imo seems like the most likely explanation. Modern BAB is kinda notorious for quality issues so it definitely wouldn't suprise me if the purple cat plushies came out so bad that they couldn't release them. Something similar happened with a batch of Pawlettes that got recalled last year.

It's unfortunate that the purple cat never saw the light of day. Myself and many others in the BAB community fell in love with her cute design and were looking forward to adding her to our collections. We feel it was such a missed opportunity and we can only hope BAB may decide to release her from limbo some day....

Soooo... uhh... remember how I said in my BAB cookie animal post that I was only getting the mini bean lion and mini bean camel? Umm, well.... I lied haha ^^'

I went to Sydney with my mum a few days ago to watch a relative's graduation and on the way back home we decided to have a look around the Westfield at Miranda. I of course knew that mall had a Build A Bear Workshop and immediately searched for it thinking I'd just buy maybe a mini bean or piece of clothing or two. As I walked into the store I was greeted right away by a display stand filled with the new cookie animal collection and uh, well, let's just say I left with two new BABs plus a mini bean and clothing accessory lol. My poor wallet hates me

Anywho, here they are in all their sprinkle-y glory!

First of I have to say the stock photos of these cuties do NOT do them justice! They're so big, like really big for a four legged BAB. The four legged friends are usually the smallest plushies BABW has to offer but this camel, and especially giraffe, tower above the rest. I was a bit iffy on the $50aud price tag when they where first listed on the BAB AU online shop, but after seeing how big they are irl I can understand the cost.

They're very soft. If you've ever felt one of the popular BAB frogs, well these guys have the same type of fur. Medium length fur, thick pile (for a modern BAB) and soft. They definitely feel good quality!

The mini beans are so great too! In fact I'd say these are some of the best mini beans that BABW have released since they first started the line. As you guys know I ordered the lion and camel online and I'm very happy with them! (it's just a shame they didn't make a full size version of the lion because he's so cute!) For the mini camel I love that unlike the full-size camel who has two humps like a bactrian, the mini has only one hump like a dromedary. I just thought that was a neat detail!

And I think the mini giraffe looks great in the white! So glad I got one of these in store, I can't believe I nearly passed on these guys!

Overall I give this collection a big thumbs up. My only nitpick is that the clothing is a bit low quality (except I do love the collar/hat set). Otherwise everything else is great and I think this is one of the best collections BAB has put out in a while!
