I'm guessing they are these:

Damn, I'd get those if I can, but I don't have the slightest clue on where to get them =(.

Ugh, I really don't want to spend about £100 on DVDs, but I just know I'll end up buying them on impulse :p

One thing I never quite understood was why these films are always given that 'Pikachu the Movie' title. I know Pikachu is the mascot of the franchise and all, but sheesh...

What are you talking about? $100 per box set ($200 altogether) is DIRT CHEAP, especially when you consider that it'd cost around $368.44 to buy all those discs individually.

Exactly. It's the macot, so the movie series are going to bear its name. Don't really see what the mystery is there.

That's awesome. o.o If I had a heckuva lot of money liyng around and the ability to watch Region 2 DVDs, I'd consider buying them.

*_* Oh wow. I think I might actually get this, because it's so pretty and shiny. I wish they'd do something like this for the English movies though--that'd be fun.

This may come as a complete shock to you, but I'm well aware of the average price of a single DVD, as well as how cheap these boxsets really are. But when you're attending university and have a plethora of other money-related issues to be concerned with, £100 on digital entertainment is still going to hurt the ol' wallet a little. Hence why I jokingly addressed my concern of buying the set on impulse. It's not like I was ranting and raving about the price with a number of nonsensical complaints.

Ahh, well, if that's all there is to it, I think it'd be a swell idea to give the current animé the title of 'The Pikachu Show' or 'Pokémon Diamond and Pearl; featuring Pikachu'. Afterall, Pikachu is the mascot and appears in every single episode...it'd only make sense for the series itself to bear it's name, right?

What are the chances of them inserting the English language dub into movies 4-9?

I already have Movies 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7 on Japanese DVD. If someone bought them off of me I could get these two boxsets. I'd be willing to let them go for $22 each + shipping, and I'll donate 15% of what I earn to Bulbagarden if I sold all of them.

Then again, if I wanted to buy movies 3 and 5 to complete the first set, or movies 8 and 9 to complete the second set, I'd be out around 8200 Yen (or 16,400 for four). So I really ought to pick these up regardless (I'm moving to Japan this September).

Any word on if those copies will include the English dubs, and/or if we're able to play them in Japanese with English subtitles (not that that's really necessary for Pokémon, after a while)?

Speaking of money going to Bulbagarden....might I suggest people try and order these off Play-Asia, if they become available? ^^;; We do earn a decent credit from purchases there. We'll probably end up using it as store credit, to buy stuff for competitions. Maybe even one of these....

The box sets are in amazon.co.jp at 9.450 Y each... "Reprints of the theatrical pamphlets" what are those?

These box sets scream "last resort for DVD" to me. While it is a good price for the DVD version of the movie, I think we will see High Definition versions of the movies in the next year or so, so I'de save my money towards them.

Which motion picture company in Japan distributes these movies? Have they taken a side with Blu-Ray, HDDVD or both? The two HD formats don't really have much clout in Japan at the moment.

Let's see if they clean up the movies first before thinking they are going to release them in HD. I watch Mewtwo and Lugia and see smudges all over every time I see them.

The overwhelming majority of people haven't upgraded to HDTV and won't be upgrading for quite some time. So for us, these DVD sets will be sufficient for the next ten years or so.

say, I just realized something: there's no word that the Mewtwo Strikes Back DVD would include the theatrical, non-CG version or not. Of course, I have a huge suspicion that they won't, which is quite a shame.

Hmm... I wonder if they're ever gonna get around to releasing a non-rental version of the series anytime within the next few years.

Eee.... I would buy these, but I already own 1-9 on Japanese (and English) DVDs. ^^;
