Oh my God, do these things even exist~? @_@ Okay, I know they do, but where~? XD I just spent the past few days hungrily trying to hunt down an original Japanese DVD box set season/arc of Pokemon, and I'm finding notta, zip. D: Needless to say, I am a sad Panda.

I've been trying to find season box sets so I can rewatch the Anime, but some arcs of the English version aren't even on DVD, so instead I turned to the Japanese version (Can't resist James fondling his inflatable boobs~! ^^) Unfortunately, I have not been able to locate a single seasonal arc in Japanese on DVD. Am I just looking in the wrong places~? :< Does anyone here know a website where I can find all of the current arcs on DVD in their original Japanese~? If so, I'd really appreciate it. ;w;

Awwh, I was misinformed about the Japanese seasons then. Sadness. :<

How are so many people viewing the Japanese seasons/arcs~? Is there a web site or something~?

We can't talk about where to find the episodes, but it's not too hard to watch the latest one the day after it airs in Japan.

You can legally watch the episodes live thanks to Keyhole, but since you're in Seattle I think that would be 3am Thursday morning for you.

Why the Japanese never bother to release the series properly on DVD I'll never understand. It's like they don't want to make money!

I know, it's just stupid. As if the Japanese themselves wouldn't buy it, there's quite a bit of foreign interest anyway! They've sorta been tippy-toeing around it in DP with those weird dvds they've released (viewer's choice, stories that tug your heartstings (grrrr) et al) but they've yet to actually do a chronological thing.

Agreed, and as far as I know even those DVDs with random eps are rental-only, and you can't even buy them.

I would honestly buy most of the series in Japanese on DVD if I could. I do like to rewatch old episodes, there's even some eps from the beginning of DP that I've forgotten already!

I'd buy it (well, some anyway) as well. Whilst I'd probably skip over large chunks if possible to save money because I wouldn't wanna rewatch them anyway, it would be amazing to be able to sit on my sofa and rewatch Kanto on my TV, in Japanese.

Yesss, buying it in Japanese would be awesome~! But alas. >_< I find it weird because every other Anime I've ever gotten from Japan has had a box set. D) Baaah..

I just brought this up in the latest update on my site :D

No, you can buy them. They're only sold in convenience stores and grocery stores, though, so places like CD Japan aren't as likely to get them in stock.

If they think that kids won't buy the DVDs since the series is so large, why not just release the most recent series?

Releasing just DP on DVD to purchase would make sense, wouldn't it? Its the series Japanese kids see on TV and are most familiar with.

I'd love to watch Kanto in Japanese, (believe or not, I've never seen Kanto in Japanese), as well as the rest of the series. I'd even buy Johto, which is saying a lot!

Wow, thanks for helping me figure out on how everyone watches episodes in Japanese. I hope that my first episode that I see live in Japanese will be good. :D

Also turn in Sunday 7:30 AM (should be Saturday 3:30 PM for you, I believe) for Pokemon Sunday, which airs a rerun of a classic episode followed by a half-hour live action show. They're showing Tokiwa Gym! The Final Badge! ("Battle of the Badge") the upcoming sunday.
