For several years I was collecting and listening pokemon music. And now I have all japanese Pokemon albums, with exception of Sutoroberi Melody and Together2007 in mp3. Based on them, I was decided to make some statistic about Japanese Pokemon music.
From 1997 to now, 64 japanese albums was released. They contain 1181 tracks in total. All tracks may be separated into 9 types:
Song - 208
Remix - 51 (including movie versions)
Karaoke Version - 57
TV BGM - 53
Movie BGM - 204
Game BGM - 412 (including tracks from Genki!! Ippai!!)
Pokemon Cry - 151
Radio Drama - 8 (2 dramas in 8 tracks)
Other - 37 (TV-Versions, instrumental remixes etc)
Of course many of the tracks was rereleased on different albums. For example there is 208 song tracks, but only 119 real songs. Out of which only 99 happened to be a pokemon related songs. Other songs was only released on some of the pokemon albums, but not truly related to Pokemon. As for remixes there is 42 real remixes, 39 of which is pokemon related. Here is the list of songs and remixes with length and singers (singers information may possibly be a little inaccurate): link (in Excel format)
And here is a list of albums with number of tracks and information about which kind of tracks which album contain. link
Total length of all pokemon tracks is 38:29:24 (1.6 days) plus length of Together2007 and Sutoroberi Melody albums. Biggest album by length is Nintendo DS Pokemon Daiyamondo to Paaru Suupaa Myujikku Korekushon (2:26:38), by number of tracks is Geemu Booi Pokemon no Saundo ga Marugoto Haitte Asoberu CD (197). Smallest album by length is Haroo! Sankyuu! (7:24) and it also contains only 2 tracks. There is other albums which contains only 2 tracks too. So it is one of the smallest by number of tracks also.
Albums may be separated into 6 types. This separation is not perfect, because there is some albums which may belong to 2 types or not totally fit a category.
1. OP\ED TV (21) - 32,8%
2. OP\ED Movie & Mini-Movie (14) - 21,8%
3. Movie OST (10) - 15,6%
4. Other (10) - 15,6%
5. Song Collection (5) - 7,8%
6. Game OST (4) - 6,2%
Albums was released every year. Here is list of in which year how many albums as released and how many percents out of all albums released from 1997 to 2006 (60 albums):
1997 (5) - 8.3%
1998 (6) - 10%
1999 (8) - 13.3%
2000 (6) - 10%
2001 (6) - 10%
2002 (4) - 6.6%
2003 (7) - 11.6%
2004 (5) - 8.3%
2005 (7) - 11.6%
2006 (6) - 10%

Oh, very informative! It must have been fun putting all this information together, huh? ^^ Definetly an interesting read. Don't really know what to tell ya other than this is awesome.

I have to ask though... I was looking through the list and recognized everything but Sutoroberi Melody. What exactly is it?
