Is there any reason why it's not the first sprite on the table?

Re: Jap Red and Green sprites in Sprite table

Not particularly. It's in the correct generation, and there's not any need to have them listed exactly in order of release. Why do you ask.

Presumably, the person who originally made it just decided to go by the the English trios.

Because, I realized that release order might've been the best way, at least for Generations I, II, and IV, as I realized, might've been the best way. However, what I realized was with Emerald, though after FRLG, was placed in the middle because of association with RS

...meaning what now?

Re: Jap Red and Green sprites in Sprite table

As in, maybe the original creator was right, but it does seem better that the original games are first, instead of last. If its decided that Jap RG comes first, I hope its not too much to ask, considering 151 pages would be changed.

Re: Jap Red and Green sprites in Sprite table

If anyone else has an opinion on this, perhaps, it's actually not hard to change. But aside from purely ascetic differences, there's just no reason to change it, in my opinion.

Re: Jap Red and Green sprites in Sprite table

although you might want to amke it more clear, that its the american Red version only (like put Red (US) just the same as Red (JP))

or you could even just do it with out country borders and have it

Red/Green - Yellow - Blue

Re: Jap Red and Green sprites in Sprite table

Blue was released before Yellow in Japan.

While I can see the reasoning for placing Green first on the table, would this also apply to FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald?

But the non-Japanese Red version isn't American, it's more or less International.

And "Red (Not the Japanese One)" doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

::EDIT::
It looks better the way it is now... more aligned and stuff.

I agree with Maverick on this one. Like FabuVinny pointed out, technically, FireRed/LeafGreen came out before Emerald did; listing them in exact release order would further mess up the layout.

I agree with Deth. I was thinking that I should alter it (I did originally come up with that ordering) but seeing as we didn't even GET Red and Green we'd then have sprites we never had first.

Yes, the games go RGBY, but with how we got the sprites (remember the Red sprites here? They were the Japanese Blue's sprites, and the same as English Blue).

We got the trio of RBY, and RG was just an extra to us. For the same reason as having it RSEFRLG, we have RBYRG. Keep the trios together.

However, I will adapt a sprite thing for our Japanese counterpart wiki. That's easily done.

one I think you should change it anyway, who cares wether we got it or not, its just chronology.

and not Red (Not the japanese), how aobut Red (International) or Red (US/EU)

and we have a japanese conter part wiki?

that second line was actually aimed at someone else sorry :D

Meh. We shouldn't think too hard about Japanese stuff, especially when we have an upgraded version for ourselves. It makes sense to me to keep RB sprites in front, although I don't care too strongly either way.

Yes, we do have a Japanese counterpart wiki.

oh cool, actually I figured that out before you posted by clicking the "other languages" panel on the bulbapedia page :D
