I was wondering, everybody here seems to love Japan. So do I. But what does ANNOY you in Japan? What Japanese things do you HATE?

I hate Gyaru and Ganguro. And Gyaru-moji, because it is the Japanese n00bspeak, and I hate n00bspeak. Wise Japanese people should actually fight with that because Japan is too tolerant for such things.

Another thing I hate is English loanwords abuse by Japanese people (hey, and Wasei-eigo, too).

And, of course HATARAKU. That's why I don't want to live in Japan.

So, what do you hate in Japan? It's your turn.

I would also mention the lack of religion in Japan, but I'm afraid of being flamed.

I hate how they eat live stuff. I mean, I know parts of the rest of the world does too (live oysters, for instance), but I saw this one show where they took this fish out of a tank, cut it up, and served it to some people WHILE IT WAS STILL GASPING. That's fucking SICK.

Well the Japanese abuse of the English language is the equivalent of Weebos abusing Japanese...

But anyway, I dislike how they SEEM to have so many freedoms concerning sexuality or censorship compared to America, the supposed land of the free. Maybe that's jealousy and not hatred. Panty vending machines for example.

How ironic. As a native English speaker who is sick of her language, I quite enjoy the interesting ways that the Japanese can use it. I dont know why but I just love seeing random English words in Japanese summaries like when I'm on the Pokesho oekaki. It's just a new twist on the same old crap.

There are some things I cant stand about the Japanese culture

How some people overglorify Japan. In the art class I go to, there was this kid talking about how better Japan is than America. -_- but he actually went to Japan so it's not like he was inexperienced

another thing is how so many anime takes place in Japan. If the Japanese are so fascinated by western things, why dont they do stories about America or Europe.

Oh yeah, another thing I cant stand.
As a high school student in America and a senior, I get out realllly early
1 pm
so I get to enjoy all the daylight I can
and even before then, I got out at like 2 and stuff
then I watch anime and ;_; the poor kids get out of high school so late they dont get enough of the good ol sun. I first noticed it in Azumanga Daioh and then noticed it in the other anime I watched
T_T I feel so bad
of course, I think they get some sun during like June and stuff but still
there's nothing worse, IMO, than not getting enough sun in the colder seasons. It depresses me

Um, ALOT of anime's do take place outside of Japan.

Besides, I don't see why a majority of them taking place in, well, Japan is that big of a deal.

Oh really 8D
give me a list! They're difficult to find. I know Trinity Blood takes place in Italy

Yes, it's like complaining about how American sitcoms take place in the US only. ^^;;
I hate that too
And one day, I'm going to do something about it

A complete list? Are you serious?

Off the top of my head, anime and manga that aren't set in Japan:

Trinity Blood (Italy)
Hellsing (England, mainly)
Fullmetal Alchemist (fictional world, plus England and Germany)
Saber Marionette J/Again/J to X/R (fictional world)
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (for the most part)
One Piece (fictional world)
Dragon Ball/Z/GT (fictional world)
Wandaba Style (for the majority of the plot) (Guam, and outer space)
Noir (France)
Madlax (fictional world)
Adolf (Germany)
Fushigi Yuugi (for the majority of the plot) (ancient China)
Slayers (fictional world)
Appleseed (fictional world)
Bastard!! (fictional world)
Battle Royale (for the majority of the plot) (deserted island)
Beet the Vandel Buster (fictional world)
Sandland (fictional world)
Berserk (fictional world)
Final Fantasy: Unlimited (fictional world)
Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals (fictional world)
The Big O (fictional world)

Claymore (fictional medieval world)

D. Gray-Man (England)
Dr. Slump (fictional world)

That's all I could think of for now because I have to leave for work.

Next time don't make such biased statements.

To add to Ketsuban's list:

Saiyuki (China, and I presume India later in the story)
Outlaw Star (Outer Space, fictional worlds).

Oh really 8D

Shinzo starts off in New York City, with the characters heading west, so I'd imagine they're still in North America by the time the series ends.

But everything's changed so much since humans were wiped out 500 years prior to the series, so the only way we really know it's New York is because we see the ruins of the Statue of Liberty.

DUDE!, that's the best part about Japan!!

I hate how they eat live stuff.

... No they don't, when fish are cut-up, the're dead. You see, cold-blooded animals have their reflexes after they die....

The things i hate about Japan is anime. Too much of it. And it overshadows their culture.

OMG LYKE HOW CULD U H8T NTHING BOUT JAPANU IZ SO BETTR THAN NWUR ELS!!!!11!

EVR1S SO AWSUM AND IM GONNA MUV THER N GET A HAWT KAWAII JAPANESU BOI AND WACH ANIME ALL DAI LONG DEN GO DO THINGS LYK YANNO *0BLUSHLOL*8

...I dunno how they type like that, I actually had to look at my keyboard to do that.

I have things against Japan- namely things about animals- but I'll bite my tongue here.

I don't think I want to say that I hate anything about a country or a group of people. It feels too... not me I guess, immoral and not something I feel..

but there are some things that annoy me. I don't like some of the judgmental aspects some people have, and I don't like that the country has such a high percent of Japanese people (as opposed to being a more diverse nation), and I don't necessarily like the bright colors fashion in men that seem popular in Tokyo right now. (I don't know, like the pinks and neon greens that some of my friend wear... I think it's.. not my style :p I'm glad they don't read here, lol)

Yeah, me too!

KYAPISU?

One thing I "dislike" about Japan is the emphasis on uniformity. Like for instance, I don't wanna wear those uniforms all the time.

I'm a free spirit man.

LOL, adding to list:

Aqua/Aria (recreation of Venice/Neo-Venezia; Mars)
Ergo Proxy (futuristic fictional city)
Sousei no Aquarion/Genesis of Aquarion (fictional world)
Gunslinger Girl (Italy; Europe)
Gankutsou/The Count of Monte Cristo (psuedo-Europe)
Magical Play (various worlds)
Kino no Tabi/Kino's Journey (various fictional towns and places)
Petite Princess Yucie (fantasy-medieval world)
Princess Tutu (fantasy world borrowing from a real German village)
Pokemon (LULZ D8)
Red Garden (New York City; America)
Scrapped Princess (fantasy world)
Texhnolyze (fictional city)
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (various worlds)
Wolf's Rain (unidentified area)

The fish was *gasping* and the narrator kept stressing how being served a live fish was the way of showing how fresh it was.

How is that really different from picking a lobster from a lobster tank?

And almost all languages use loan words. Yes, Japan is a bit extreme, but still...

As far as I know, people usually cook lobsters for a while first, not carve and eat them while they're still squirming.

Well, yeah, but that's because most people usually order cooked lobster, not raw lobster. It's still a matter of the animal being killed and prepared right after the customer orders it so the customer knows it's as fresh as it can possibly get.
