So I was randomly going through Wikipedia and noticed that most of the cast of One Piece has worked on Pocket Monsters at some point or another. Take a look:

Mayumi Tanaka (Luffy) does the voice of Rougela (Jynx).
Kazuya Nakai (Zoro) does the voice of Shintarou (Genero) in some random Jouto episode
Akemi Okamura (Nami) does the voice of Lilian, the Shinou Contest MC
Kappei Yamaguchi (Usopp) does the voice of Toru (Todd)
Fumihiko Tachiki (Don Krieg) does the voice of Machisu (Lt. Surge)
Jūrōta Kosugi (Arlong) does the voice of Senri (Norman)
Yūko Kobayashi (Nico Robin) does the voice of Shigeru (Gary)
Ryūzaburō Ōtomo (Mr. 0 Crocodile) does the voice of Fushigibana (Venusaur)
Ikue Ōtani (Chopper) does the voice of Pikachu.

Pretty neat, huh? Are there any other examples you guys can think of where a VA in another popular anime series has worked on Pocket Monsters?

That kinda reminds me of how Naruto and Final Fantasy VII have a lot of shared VAs. Itachi/Cait is my fave personally... But anyway.

From Cowboy Bebop, Kouichi Yamadera (Spike) did Butler from the sixth movie, Megumi Hayashibara (Faye) is Musashi, and Unshou Ishizuka (Jet) is Ookido-hakase and the narrator. Aoi Tada (Edward) doesn't seem to have done anyone though...

I've noticed lots of others, but the fact that most of the main cast here did so stuck out.

Oh, yes, Slayers:

Megumi Hayashibara (Lina) is also Musashi (Jessie).
Yasunori Matsumoto (Gourry) was Usokki (Sudowoodo; not Brock's) a couple of times
Hikaru Midorikawa (Zelgadiss) was a couple of minor characters in Kanto
Masami Suzuki (Amelia) was another minor character
Akira Ishida (Xelloss) was the conductor guy from the Hoenn League, Akira (Falkner), and Baruki (Tyrogue)
Maria Kawamura (Naga) was Momi (Cheryl)

In addition Shin'ichirou Miki (Kojiro/James) and Mayumi Iizuka (Kasumi/Misty) were characters in Slayers Excellent, and Takehito Koyasu (Kosaburo/Butch) was Rezo in the first Slayers TV series.

(If you can read Japanese, this page is helpful.)

  • Megumi Hayashibara (Jessie) voiced Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion
  • Rica Matsumoto (Ash) voiced Ryo Bakura in Yu-Gi-Oh! (Second Series)
  • Ikue Ohtani (Pikachu) voiced Fon Master Ion in Tales of the Abyss
  • Megumi Toyoguchi (Dawn) voiced Winry Rockbell in Fullmetal Alchemist
  • Katsuyuki Konishi (Croagunk and Cacnea) voiced Lloyd Irving in Tales of Symphonia

Junichi Kanemaru does Harley and Sonic the Hedgehog. Both use alot of engrish.

When Harley does that dash-run during his last appearance I can't help but think it was referring to this.

If we're doing individuals, Domino's VA was one of the voices of Sailor Moon. I think that's why Domino twirls around when she introduces herself.

And Bashou's VA is Ryu from Street Fighter (and Oikawa from Digimon...eesh!)

Yuji Ueda (Takeshi) does Zappa and Satomi Koroogi (Togepi, Sparky) does May (She sounds more like Sparky, though) who are both from the Guilty Gear series.

From Cowboy Bebop, Kouichi Yamadera (Spike) did Butler from the sixth movie

he's actually played a lot of characters in the movies. He's Jack Walker, Aaron, and (oddly enough) the Mew in Mewtwo Strikes Back. I think he might've played a role in each one, actually.

Aoi Tada (Edward) doesn't seem to have done anyone though...

however, she did play Terriermon in another monster-based show, Digimon Tamers. Speaking of which, being the fanboy that I am for that series, I can list off a few seiyuu from there.

-I'm sure several of us know about Masako Nozawa playing the voice of Masamune (I think she also played the Elekid in the second mini-movie). She's famous for her role as Son Goku, as well as his children, throughout the Dragon Ball franchise. In Digimon Tamers, she also plays Guilmon and all his evolutions, particularly Dukemon, a role she reprises in both Digital Monster X-Evolution and Digimon Savers. I'm also personally familiar with her minor role as a giant fish in an episode of Tsubasa Chronicle.

-Yuka Imai, who played Renamon, also played Shirou, from the Ledian filler in Jouto, and Hokuto, the archeologist from the Kantou filler with a giant Gengar, Fuudin, and Purin.

-Fumiko Orikasa, the voice of Renamon's Tamer Makino Ruki, as well as Kuchiki Rukia in Bleach and Pacifica Casull in Scrapped Princess, voices Kanon in "Gods of the Water Capital! Latias & Latios!"

-Susumu Chiba, who played Yamaki in Tamers, also does Wataru. He also plays Oswald in the recently released PS2 game Odin Sphere (which I've been playing lately).

-The afforementioned Jun'ichi Kanemaru, who plays both Harley and Sonic the Hedgehog, also worked in Digimon Tamers as Ryou (and this role didn't have the guy abusing the English language XD).

Moving on from Digimon Tamers....

-Daisuke Namikawa, the voice of Lucario, plays Ulquiorra in Bleach, Faye D. Flourite in Tsubasa Chronicles, and Cornelius in the aforementioned Odin Sphere.

-Romi Paku, who plays the oldest of Takeshi's younger brothers, Jirou, has done a number of major roles in pretty well-known anime. The most noteworthy one is probably Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist. Then there's Hitsugaya Toushirou in Bleach, Ichijouji Ken in Digimon Adventure 02, Oozora Reiji in Dragon Drive, and Tao Ren in Shaman King.

-Speaking of Shaman King, Oyamada Manta was done by Inuko Inuyama, who plays Nyaasu.

On SPPF, I also pointed out a few seiyuu roles for the Frontier Brains.

-Nobuyuki Hiyama plays at least three roles in Pokemon: Akira (the guy with the Sand way back in the 8th episode or so), Buson, and Datsura. Outside of Pokemon, he plays a shitload of other worthwhile roles, including adult Link in Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Nightmare in Soul Calibur, Balmung in .hack, Madarame Ikkaku in Bleach, Hiei in Yu Yu Hakusho, Black War Greymon in Digimon Adventure 02, and several others.

-Heath's seiyuu, Kenta Miyake, plays Count Elec in Rockman.EXE (I was almost immediately able to point this out XD). He also does Vector the Crocodile in Sonic the Hedgehog games, Byakko no Rangetsu in Onmyou Taisenki (I doubt many people are familiar with this series, or I at least don't see them talk about it, but it will be brought up again with the next seiyuu I mention), and I heard he did Tsume in Wolf's Rain (but having yet to see that series in Japanese, I haven't heard that role personally). He's also the current voice of Sakaki, replacing the late Hirotaka Suzuoki.

-Lila's judge, Masa, is voiced by Katsu Anri. Yeah, he doesn't seem to have many noteworthy roles to his name, but I personally enjoyed him as Seiryuu no Kibachiyo in the aforementioned Onmyou Taisenki.

Kazuya Nakai (Zoro) does the voice of Shintarou (Genero) in some random Jouto episode

you forgot about Naoshi, the bard who recently got to reappear in "Shin'ou Space-Time Legend". And so everyone knows, Shintarou was in the Whirl Islands, in the episode revolving around the Silver Feather's legend. He had a Sandpan.

If we're doing individuals, Domino's VA was one of the voices of Sailor Moon. I think that's why Domino twirls around when she introduces herself.

Kotono Mitsuishi. She was also Misato in Evangelion and Ebichu the hamster (who had her own series). :p

BLACK CAT has a lot of voice actors shared with Pokémon, but that may be because they use the same agency.

I recall some examples from Detective Conan...

- Kappei Yamaguchi (Shinichi/Jimmy) voiced Tooru/Todd. Yamaguchi plays tons of other male main characters in other series I noticed o_O
- Minami Takayama (Conan) voiced Hiroshi/Richie
- Megumi Hayashibara (Ai) is Musashi/Jessie, of course
- Wakana Yamazaki (Ran/Rachel) voiced Juliet from the Volbeat/Illumise episode
- Ryou Horikawa (Heiji/Harley) was Jigii/Rudy
- Mami Koyama (Belmot/Vermouth) voiced Ruriko/Luana
- Ikue Ohtani acted as Mitsuhiko/Mitch

Here's some Dragon Ball ones:

Masako Nozawa (Goku, Gohan, Goten, etc.) plays Masamune (Morrison)
Mayumi Tanaka (Kuririn, Yajirobe) pays Rougela
Hirotaka Suzuoki (Tenshinhan) played Sakaki (Giovanni)
Tomiko Suzuki (Dende) played Jirachi
Ichirō Nagai (Karin) plays Professor Nanba

Masako Nozawa (Goku, Gohan, Goten, etc.) plays Masamune (Morrison)
Coincidentally, Sean Schemmel played both Goku and Morrison in the dub.

Yuji Ueda (Takeshi) also voiced as Kimblee in Fullmetal Alchemist
Rica Matsumoto (Satoshi) also voiced as Kei in Dirty Pair Flash (I've watched an episode and hilariously enough, Kei sounds exactly like Satoshi. Hee, the images my mind has.)
Inuko Inuyama (Nyarth) has also voiced as Manta Oyamada in Shaman King (which I find quite hilarious for some reason)

Yumi Touma (Freezer/Dratini) has had a number of roles in fighting games. Some being Ivy in SC, Leifang in DoA and Xiaoyu in Tekken

Takehito Koyasu (Kosaburo) does Eddie in Guilty Gear. He also does Faust VIII in Shaman King and Arcana (Pandora) in Yu-Gi-Oh (The latter two voiced by the same english VA, apparently)

Shinichiro Miki (Kojiro) does Kisuke Urahara in Bleach and Mizuki in Naruto. He also does Akira Yuuki in the Virtua Fighter games

Rikako Aikawa who does a number of Pokemon (Zenigame to give an idea) does Koushi/Oxnard in Hamutaro

Akira Ishida (Hayato and Hyuuga from AG128) does Katsura in Gintama and Gaara in Naruto
