Of course it remains to be seen what city will be selected to host the 2016 Olympic Games, the Japanese Olympic Committee however is so serious about its bid that it has enlisted the support of famous anime characters Astro Boy and Pikachu, who have been making appearances at events and fairs promoting the city’s bid for the games.

Just send it back to Sydney, I say.

That way you can have the best games ever, over and over again.

However, I think that Japan would be quite a good choice for a near future Olympics. It's been a while.

Japan wants Tokyo to be the host city, which is just ridiculous. The city is the most densely populated area on Earth as it is; it, quite frankly, can't handle the sudden influx of people that the Olympic Games would bring in.

I still find it ridiculous that such a polluted city like Beijing is hosting the 2008 Olympics.

Nah lets just focus on getting the 2018 Football World Cup. ;-)

Pikachu and the olympics do not belong in the same article.

Ever.

Sydney Olympic Games says hello. :)

I think they had that 9 Pikachu promo card set not to mention the second movie's "The Power of One" soundtrack was plastered throughout the games. Of course this is when Pokemon was at it's peak. Can't say I'd know what Japan would pull for this kind of promotion. I wouldn't be surprised if every stadium were striped in a Pokemon Battle Arena fashion.

It's Japan, anything could happen.

At least Beijing is trying to reduce its pollution.

Aren't Pikachu and sports the polar opposites of each other?

Nothing says sports like Saturday morning cartoons and video games.

I think that Japan in fact is ready, accomodations-wise, to handle the massive flood of people.

However, somehow I don't think they'll get it next time.
