I was reading the wonderful Lying in the Gutters column today, and it linked to this page on IMDB. Scroll down and check what role this actress was most recently cast as.

Am I the only one who thinks it's ironic that they're not doing the interracial relationship, despite many of the old Power Man/Iron Fist issues dealing with the issue? Or maybe they just had an open casting and color didn't matter. I hope that's the case. Otherwise...wtf?

Gah, again? Why can't they attempt to at least make the characters look somewhat like their comic book alter egos? No, the Kingpin and Alicia Masters aren't black, so don't cast black people as them. Just like you shouldn't cast some white guy as Luke Cage, Black Panther or the Falcon. It's bad enough that we got old men playing Xavier and Magneto over in the X-Men movies.

Erm, they'd have to be old men to have both lived during the holocaust, which is a big part of Magneto's back story.

...okay, good point. I've never really read that many X-Men books, and very few starring Magneto.

But the guy DOES look a lot younger in the comics than in the movie, though. And Xavier was never involved in the holocaust, was he? He was in his thirties or something in the ealiest books, I believe, but those WERE from the sixties.

In Magneto's case, he was de-aged at least once in the comics (gotta love whacky ultimate mutant creations that turn on you), and Xavier's on his second (at least) body (his original body's now a Brood queen).

As for how old Xavier is...it's hard to tell with the sliding time scale. He's certainly somewhere in his 40s (at least) considering all the crap that went on before he even founded the X-Men (although he was involved in at least one Pacific-theatre war, so...).
