Jewel Tournament: A Forgotten Legend

Plot:

You are an exceptional trainer and have been invited to participate in the Jewel Tournament. Sixteen special individuals have been selected, all with an equal chance to win the coveted Encrusted Cup, and one million poke prize money.

The Jewel Tournament will be held on the S.S. Jewel; a luxury cruise ship with facilities for all the family. As such, the general public has also been invited to watch (with a minimal fee) this once-in-a-lifetime tournament.

But, this is no ordinary tournament.

Each participant will be provided with Pokegems; walnut-sized attachments that can be linked with your pokeballs. They increase your Pokemons speed, stamina and power, also giving them additional moves. Also, every participant will be supplied with five-star accommodation, high class cuisine and state-of-the-art equipment.

I spontaneously had this idea once when I overheard my mum talking to her friend about a hotel across the road from ours. The hotel in question had rooms that were decorated to link in with precious gemstones; amethyst, sapphire, ect, and the tournament idea spawned from that.

You will play one of the sixteen trainers invited to participate in the tournament. I realize sixteen is a big number, but I don’t expect all the spots to be filled, and have such created a series of back-up characters. So, no worries )

Age: 15
Gender: Male
Appearance: messy brown hair, Dark Brown eyes, a loose white tee shirt, Jeans, Black Sunglasses, White Trainers/Sneakers or whatever you call'em. A fairly large scar above my right eye where i hit it on a plant pot holder during one of my stupid spells, fairly tall compared to my friends at 5ft 10in, pretty skinny,my jeans usually have a hole in atleast one of the knees, likes to wear a red cap sometimes, my arms are pretty freckly, and i have a leather strapped watch which doesn't work on my left wrist, i wear three dogtags one small and two fairly large. arms covered in various cuts and bruises from different places. My prefered room gemstone would be The Ruby, simply because Rubies are red and I like red!! yaay Childishness.
Personality: My Character has a highly sarcastic sense of humour, but at the same time is friendly and is always happy to help with almost anything within a certain degree!! Has a slightly spontaneous insane side!! I like to think of myself as having a complex inside which is completely different to peoples first impression of me, i don't particularly take great care in my appearance as i generally don't care what people think of me, i like being in control and having a certain amount of power but i am not a control freak, will comply to orders from authority, but will often question orders from people who are not in power of anything. Sensitive to other peoples feelings, and is reluctant to accept change but will eventually, can get homesick pretty quickly but does not show it externally. My Favourite colour is red and my favourite type of pokemon is water!! What a great contrast lol.
History: Born in Goldenrod city in 1994, enrolled in the pokemon school at the young age of four, excelled in school work, and at the age of ten when legally aloud to own a pokemon I got my first pokemon from my grandfather, he was a Squirtle. Me and my squirtle then went on to take the johto gym challange, we succeeded in getting all 8 badges before I was 11. After that i travelled with my closest friends to the other Kanto, Hoenn and Sinnoh beating their gyms 6 weeks ago a few months after my 15th birthday.
And this is the reason why I have been chosen to participate in this challenge due to the attention i have gained over my travels.
Pokemon: Blastoise: My closest pokemon friend has been with me my entire journey, got from my grandpa at the age of 10.
Blissey: Got Chansey off of a hastled breeder has got me out of many tight scrapes in the past.
Luxio: Caught a shinx in sinnoh it's power makes it a close ally.
Lucario: Found abandoned in a temple as an offering to arceus, a strong battle partner but is yet to fully open its trust.
Aggron: Hatched from an egg i obtained at the day care as an aron he was mischievous and that trait stayed all the way through it's evolutions.
Ditto: snuck into my tent one night and thats when i found her, believe it or not it has got me out of many a tight situation!!
RP Sample: "you me battle NOW" The boy exclaimed
"okay but I personally don't see what boost your fragile ego will get from me beating you" I said nonchalantly
"Right THAT IS IT!! VENUSAUR GO!!" The Boy shouted irritably, he promptly threw his pokeball in a slightly violent fassion, the pokeball glowed briefly and Venusaur appeared (as if anything else would happen)
"okay kiddo you're on!!" you exclaimed "I can take it!! Blastoise This is it Mate" My pokeball cruised out of my hand onto the grassy floor below and opened revealing the Great beast that my blastoise was.
"Right kid you can make the first move......just to give you half a chance" I said cockily.
"Okay VENUSAUR Vine Whip NOW"
The attack strikes Blastoise across his front, he appears to only just feel the attack.
"Blastoise i Think you should.......Hydro Pump!!!! GO!!"
The jet of cruel icy water strikes the venusaur even though this is not a very powerful attack it seems to take it's toll.
"Venusaur Don't be pathetic Hit him With Razor leaf you useless piece of pokecrap!!" The Boy is really starting to sound cross now!!
"Blastoise Dodge" Blastoise takes a casual dive to the floor. *Thump* and the attack cruises over his shell.
"Right Now get up and use ice beam, we can win this!!" I said calmly as blastoise spits a bolt of ice out of his mouth, it strikes the venusaur hard....The venusaur collapses, attempts to get up quite pitifully and then collapses and faints.
"YOU PIECE OF JUNK YOU ARE UTTERLY THE BIGGEST LETDOWN SINCE SINCE.........WELL THE SIZE OF MY DAD'S DI...." The boy literally screams.
"Right well i'm not sure i want to hear the rest of that so if it's okay i'm off....your pokemon will never win if you're such a gimp to them....c'mon blastoise mate we have bigger fish to fry."
I turned around and hastily left the boy, Blastoise close behind me, today was not a very trying day for me, i thought they'd all be like this....little did i know how wrong i was!!

Name: Leeann Sonano
Age: 17
Gender: Female

Appearance:
Leean is a fairly short girl at about 5' 2". She has large eyes with irises colored a light blue and short, shaggy black hair that has been dyed pink on the tips. She wears a red shoulder-bearing crop top and baggy, denim jeans, which is held by a large belt with a teasing slimy face on the buckle. She also has a set of two silver-colored bracelets on her right arm, and two small, light blue earrings.

Personality:
Leeann is best described as eccentric. She approaches people optimistically and is almost instantly playful with them, even if she doesn't know them. She has an odd habit of collecting anything she finds interesting from the ground, including coins, bundles of hair, and rags. She's also one of those people who will either be your best friend, or your worst enemy, which only happens if you do something to offend her to begin with, and even so, she doesn't like holding grudges.

As far as pokemon is concerned, she has no particular preference as far as elemental type is concerned, only by what she thinks makes a balanced team. Thus, unlike most women, she does not solely prefer the "cute" pokemon, but ones that also look dangerous or intimidating, such as Gabite. While she has a weird personality, she can actually be conniving, and prefers to disarm her opponents first, then hit them hard. Thus she likes pokemon that appear "tough" or "scary".

Her favorite color is red, but specifically primary red, not any of the shades.

History:
Leann was born in Blackthorn City in the Johto region, famous for the Dragon-type trainers that come from it. Despite this, for the first 10 years of her life, she was never really interested in dragons, nor pokemon battling in general. This disappointed her father, who constantly trained at the Dragon's Den, and wanted her to live up to his name since he didn't have a son. The only pokemon she owned at the time was a Wynaut, which was given to her as an egg by her mother, even though her father preferred she had a Dratini. Since he didn't have a son, Leann's father would make her do more masculine chores for him, including chopping wood and lifting heavy objects, thus developing a very tomboyish personality. Her father also tried to take her to his battles against other trainers to prove how powerful Dragon-type pokemon are. However, Leeann was never interested in the battles, and even told her father that she does not like pokemon for their power, but for who they are. It seemed like she would never try to become a trainer at that point in time.

One day, while she and her Wynaut was walking home after buying Pokeballs for her father, Leann encountered a vicious Gible, which may have wondered from the Sinnoh region, that attempted to ambush her. In an effort to defend his master, Leeann's Wynaut used it's counter technique as soon as the Gible tried to leap forward and take a bite out of Leeann, greatly injuring it. To prevent it from causing any further harm, Leeann threw one of the pokeballs she bought and successfully captured the Gible, much to her surprise. That is when she realized that pokemon battling is not truly about having the strongest pokemon and brutally harming an opponent, and finally told her father that she is interested in trying out for the championships and that she wanted to move to Violet City to study pokemon at the academy. While her father was initially skeptic about having her join an academy to train pokemon instead of staying home, he was overjoyed that she wanted to become a trainer and let her go, even letting her keep the Gible she caught.

Leeann spent the next 4 years of her life at the academy, learning about and building her team of pokemon. She developed her disarming strategy there and even prevented Wynaut from evolving so that it would work. By the next 3 years, she successfully defeated all gym leaders of the Johto region, and even tried against the Elite Four, though she only managed to defeat the first in line. She was quick to brush off her defeat, though, as she simply admitted that she has to train harder.

She was eventually invited to the Jewel tournament, and was excited to be accepted, so she took her mind off the Elite Four to participate in the Jewel Tournament.

Wynaut was the first Pokemon Leeann recieved, hatching from an egg that was found by her mother, in an attempt to get her more interested in Pokemon through methods other than what her father presented. Through time it developed a protective, playful personality living with Leeann, and even went as far as to willingly protect her from a rampaging Gible. He tends to mimic Leeann's movements when she is speaking and loves getting her attention. Interestingly enough, he only received the nickname "Lover Boy" when Leeann was at the academy.

Bio:
Leeann captured Dandel as a Hoppip during her first year at Violet City's Pokemon Academy. She chose this pokemon to be one of her "disarming" types in addition to Wynaut, only capable of causing status problems to her opponents and even infatuating them. Outside of battle, Dandel has a habit of brushing her spores against people's faces, sometimes triggering harsh allergic reactions.

It was captured as a Teddiursa during the journey to Violet City to study at the pokemon academy. Leeann initially didn't want to use it for battling because of it's cuteness, and thought it could be a present for her parents. After researching it's evolutionary potential, however, Leeann decided to keep it to train. One of this pokemon's signature achievements he the ability to use Fire Punch and Ice Punch. Despite this, it has trouble using the two opposing moves at the same time, leaving him to only use one of the two moves per match. It loves it when Leeann rubs his stomach.

Leeann actually caught this pokemon, in it's fully evolved form, quite recently. After completing the Pokemon Academy in Violet City, she went to the Bell Tower with her classmates for a party. This pokemon managed to appear and scare the partiers, however, it's reign of terror ended when Leeann used Wynaut to capture it. Though tutoring, Gengar, now called "Maul", learn Taunt and Dream Eater. Unlike Leeann's other pokemon, she almost never sends Maul out of his pokeball outside of battle, as he has disciplinary problems that often gets Leeann into trouble.

Bio:
Leeann first met Blackthorn as a Gible. It was somehow accidentally introduced to the Johto from the Sinnoh region and wondered around Blackthorn City. There, it attempted to attack Leeann as a child, but thanks to the efforts of her Wynaut, Gible was defeated and became the first pokemon she captured. He was named "Blackthorn" to remind Leeann where she first met him. Early down the line, it was highly disobedient and proved to be frustrating to train, but over the years he has grown to trust Leeann and now serves as one of her most powerful pokemon that she uses as a last resort.

Bio:
Kippy was raised from a Mudkip during the time Leeann was traveling to receive her 8 badges from the Johto League. She originally found it as an egg, when a gang of poachers beat and captured a Swampert parent and disregarded the nest it was guarding. Because Leeann wished she could have done something about it, she took the liberty to raise the Mudkip egg that the Swampert was originally guarding. Currently, as a Swampert, Kippy regards Leeann as her "mother" and even breaks out of her pokeball to defend Leeann when she thinks she is in danger.

RP Sample:
Leeann was sitting against the side of cliff, petting her Wynaut, named Lover Boy, to calm it down from it's last defeat from the Elite Four.

"Honey, it's okay." Leeann said to the Wynaut softly. "We're gonna try a little harder next time." Suddenly, a young, male trainer began to approach her, taking out one of the pokeballs from his belt.

"Hey you!" the boy cried out. "I heard you defeated all of the gym leaders in Johto, let's have a match!" Leeann looked towards the trainer in a smug sort of way. "A match as in to like a cig? Sorry, but I don't smoke," she joked. She wasn't really in the mood for another Pokemon battle.

The boy gave her a confused look. "What!? What's the matter, are you so scared you're gonna lose, especially since you have nothin' but a Wynaut!" He then began to laugh and point at her. "How'd you win with that?" Leeann took a glace at Lover Boy, and the little Wynaut nodded back. She then stood up and released her Wynaut from her arms. "You really want to know how I beat them, little boy?" she taunted. "Bring it on, I'll answer your phone call for a butt-whoopin'!"

Grinning the opposing trainer threw his pokeball, unleashing a Charizard. The beast let out a loud roar that initially startled the Wynaut being sent foreward. "Alright Charizard," the trainer began to command. "Toast this little twerp with a Flamethrower!" The opposing Charizard spewed out a long stream of flames towards the Wynaut.

"Mirror Coat!" Leeann quickly commanded. Lover Boy became enveloped in a reflective substance. As soon as the Flamethrower hit him, the stream of fire bounced back towards the Charizard, knocking it to the ground.

"Charizard! Don't give up! Get up!" the opposing trainer commanded to the weakened Charizard. Leeann saw the opportunity right and shouted to Lover Boy, "Encore!" The Wynaut then cried in cheer for the Charizard and clapped it's hands. It started to glow, and a white light was fired at the Charizard. Suddenly, the Charizard got up and performed the same Flamethrower move again. "You know what to do!" Leeann commanded Lover Boy confidently, and the Wynaut performed the same move successfully, deflecting the attack and this time fainting the Charizard.

The opposing trainer let out a scream "What the!?" and withdrew the KO'd Charizard. Leeann rushed forward and hugged the Wynaut, then she brushed the ashes off of it's head and carried him back. The Wynaut was breathing heavily, it could never take a move like that again, but it was still confident in it's trainer. Leeann then threw a pokeball, unleashing a floating, dandelion-like Pokemon, Jumpluff, out into the field. She then looked at the trainer in his pitiful state. "I thought you said Wynauts were weak! Why did mine beat you?" she teased.

The trainer was furious. "Shut up! This time I'm serious!" He threw another ball unleashing a burly Machoke, which growled and pounded it's chest, ready for a fight. "My Machoke will crush that little puffball of yours, It wasn't wise of you to send it out!" he called out to Leeann. The trainer then commanded the Machoke to use Dynamic Punch. The ferocious attack greatly injured the Jumpluff enough for it to go flying straight and crashing into the cliff edge. Fortunately, it did not faint.

"Come on, Dandel!" she cried to her Jumpluff, Dandel was it's nickname. "You can do it! Just use a Stun Spore and everything will be alright!" Dandel then got back up and kept itself afloat. It let out a battle cry and waved it's cotton spores to release an orange powder towards the Machoke. As the powder blew towards the Machoke, it's muscles began to stiffen, and it could no longer move.

The opposing trainer was in a panic, as it would be difficult to control Machoke in his state, and he got a feeling that Leeann was plotting something nasty. "Great Job!" said Leeann to her Jumpluff, and she withdrew it to it's pokeball. Finally, she threw another ball, with revealed a frightening reptilian, Gabite. The opposing trainer's eyes widened, and he called for Machoke to use another Dynamic Punch, but to no avail, as it was paralyzed.

"Let's call it a day, guys!" Leeann said to her pokemon. "Dragon Rage!" The Gabite started to spew a large ball of fire from it's mouth, then it shot it straight towards the Machoke, creating a large explosion. The enemy trainer screamed as he saw his Machoke, fainted, become visible through the smoke. "No way! This isn't happening!" the trainer cried frantically. Leeann withdrew her Gabite and giggled. "Did you really think that you could just beat me with force alone?" she asked, rhetorically. "Been nice fighting you, sweetheart!" she teasingly blew him a kiss and headed towards the nearest pokemon center with her Wynaut, who was skipping about with her in honor of it's victory.

Name: Acer Derson
Age: 14
Gender: male
Appearance: White hair, long bangs, blue eyes. He wears jeans, silver shirt, and a saphire coloured trench coat. He has pale skin, with a scar on the right of his mouth. He is Five foot eight, and weighs 100 pounds. He does not look that muscular, but is stronger than he appears. He has a Tatto of an A on his left shoulder, in blue ink
Personality: Acer is a polite child, who doesn't make new friends easy. Any friends he does make are close to him because of this. He is nice, and acts friendly, but just doesn't bond easily, and he usually keeps his emotions in check, although when he is stressed he get's angry easily, and will take it out on those around him. He likes dragons and they are his favorite type. Silver is his favorite Color.
History:

Acer was born and raised in Pacifilog town, a small town in the hoenne region. His family has lived there for as long as anyone can remember. He was always interested in pokemon, and broke his arm trying to chase one underwater when he was four. His parents were both pokemon researchers researching Rayquaza, so he knew a lot about it, and a lot about dragons. He recieved a mudkip from them when he was ten, and he trained it until he was eleven. Then he followed his parents requests and took a few years of schooling at The Hoenne Academy, and then set off to take on the Pokemon league. He encountered team magma in the desert, and fought them with all of his might.

Two television reporters made these conflicts famous, and he used this to urge people to fight team Magma. He Trained his team and shifted his goals from taking on the league to fighting team magma. He started dating a girl named Krystine, who he had met in the academy, and she recommended entering a tournament to test his strength. He had become slightly famous around Mauville town, as well as quite powerful. His fame made him a good candidate for the tournament, and was quite happy to be accepted.

Acer's Starter pokemon. It is very loyal and he trusts it completely, and it has proved it deserves this trust time and time again, from taking on magma grunts to saving him from drowning fallowing a defeat at meteor falls.

Blaze was the fourth pokemon aquired by acer, in a trade with his future girlfriend, Krystine. He traded a Cacturn for it, and never regretted it. Blaze is uncormfurble with The relationship between it's two masters, but seeks to prove it can get past that.

A pokemon Caught by Acer during a rampage at Lilycove, Destructor is violent by nature and does not seek to change this. It's goal is to shape it's violent nature to aid Acer.

Umbreon (shadow)
Shadow was rescued by Acer as an eevee from team magma, and when Magma grunts overwhelmed The rest of his pokemon they fought together to escape to mauville. Shadow does not like other humans because of what magma did to it.

RP Sample:
"Acer!" Krystine Yelled, taking out a great ball. "Let's see how you do in a real battle!" she continued, smiling. Acer reached to his belt and took a dive ball off.
"Very well, don't expect it to be easy," Acer replied. He had not expected this on his way home from the Desert. Having met up with Krystine Again only a week ago, he was still not used to seeing her around. "Delta, to the skies!" Acer yelled, Throwing the ball. Water Droplets flew as a Flygon emerged from it's pokeball.

"Delta? Talk about predicable!" Krystine laughed, and dropped the great ball, revealing a Metagross.
"Fire Blast!" Acer yelled, and Delta let a fiery pentagram loose, burning into metagross. The metagross, collapsed, but then fired an ice beam that slammed into Flygon, knocking it from the sky. Acer didn't have time to call out the next attack before flygon hit the ground, and decided to use the impact to launch an earthquake. The weakened Metagross collasped, no longer able to battle. Krystine threw the ball again, and Metagross disappeared. She reached for another pokeball, but Acer motioned for her to stop.
"My parties still weak from training in the desert. That's all I've got right now," he explained, firing a red laser from the dive ball that encompassed Delta, who disappeared in a Red flash.

Name: Colin Oakley

Age: 15

Gender: Male

Appearance: He has light brown, wavy hair that reaches to his shoulders, and his fringe reaches to the top of his bottom eyelids. He has amber eyes that have a strange, swirling pattern in them. He's very tall, at 6ft 5", just an inch taller than his twin sister. He weighs roughly 110 lbs, which is five lbs more than his twin sister. When in cold weather, he wears a dark orange scarf, a black duffel coat, baggy black tracksuit bottoms, orange boots and an orange ski cap. When in warm weather, he wears a long-sleeved orange shirt, a pair of black jeans, a pair of orange sandals and dark orange-tinted sunglasses.

Personality: Colin makes decisions on the basis of personal values, is appreciative and accepting of people - enjoying company and seeking harmony, assesses the impact of decisions on others, being sympathetic or compassionate and takes a personal approach to things. Colin seeks stable, harmonious relationships, tends to adapt to the environment, taking on board those values that are held as important by friends and family, or society as a whole, expresses the appreciation that is felt towards others, tends to consider others' feelings before his own and be sensitive to praise and criticism, and seek to conform to others' reasonable expectations. The potential ways in which Colin can irritate others include talking too much, assuming he knows the needs of others - in trying to help them develop insight, Colin can appear bossy and avoiding conflict and not giving criticism when it is needed. He takes criticism personally and focuses so much on interpersonal issues that cost and other impersonal considerations are not adequately addressed. His favourite colour is orange, and his favourite Pokémon type is Normal.

History: Colin was born to Holly (née Wattley) and Hektor Oakley, along with a twin who was named Clare. Colin and Clare were unlike normal siblings, as they never fought once with each other, shouting and arguing, but they did irritate each other in their own little ways. They were born and raised in Goldenrod City, where Holly worked in the flower shop, where it was very popular, whilst Hektor worked as a Pokémon Doctor, and also was a DJ in the Goldenrod Radio Tower.

Holly was adamant that Colin trained with Grass-types, although Colin was not interested in them, and Holly punished him and his sister, who also did not like them. Hektor was not around enough to know that Holly was mistreating the twins, and whenever Colin and Clare tried to tell him, Holly would cover up for herself, irritating the twins a lot. All Colin had was a little Porygon, which he had won at the Game Corner, because he was actually quite good at Voltorb Flip, and never lost a game once he had got the hang of it.

Clare had found a Piplup egg, which was hatched, and one day, they got their own back on their mother, and left her, setting off on their adventures together. They swiped through the Johto and Kanto Gyms, and have defeated the Indigo Plateau twice, once because of Johto, and once because of Kanto. This was why they were chosen for the Jewel Tournament.

Porygon-Z
Nickname: Techno
Gender: Genderless, but Colin refers to him as Male
Bio: Techno was received by Colin from the Game Corner, since Colin was so good at the games there. Techno has developed to be exactly like Colin in every personality trait, and has even picked up some human speech. However, sometimes Techno can become extremely hyper, and has been known to flicker in and out of sight sometimes. Techno is Colin's best partner and friend.

Swellow
Nickname: Amaterasu
Gender: Female
Bio: Amaterasu was found as a Taillow when Techno accidentally fell out of the air and squashed the poor thing flat. Colin returned the Taillow to health, and returned her back to her home, but she was adamant in following Colin and Techno. Techno showed Colin that she wanted to come with them, and Colin agreed. Amaterasu is an extremely sweet and kind Swellow, but at the same time, sort of proud, although she only slips into her pride once in a while. She's graceful and ladylike, and expects to be treated like so. She acts as an overhead scout, surveying the area and then reporting back to her team. When she's feeling sad about something, she suddenly turns outrageously fierce, and will shut herself off, even from her bestest of friends. Forgiving, though, she will forgive anything, even if it was badly terrifying or evil or whatever.

Furret
Nickname: Silk
Gender: Female
Bio: Silk was found as a Sentret when Amaterasu was scouting ahead through the skies, and Silk was standing on her tail, looking for something. Amaterasu led Silk to the team, and Colin noticed that she had lost her family, and was close to despair. Colin tried to comfort Silk, but she kept attacking the team, and Colin was forced to capture her. Silk is a slightly crazy and hyper Furret, and loves zooming around the place. However, she holds grudges to easily, and that is her flaw.

Wartortle
Nickname: Kamei
Gender: Male
Bio: One day, whilst Colin was at the Lake of Rage, Silk noticed that there was an egg at the bottom of the lake, and dived down and retrieved the egg. Silk was very protective of it, and until it hatched, never let it out of her sight. Kamei is a very calm, collected Wartortle, who hardly ever lets his emotions completely take over. He is peaceful, and very brave. He will risk anything, as long as he does not put his teammates in danger. His flaw is his personal loyalty - to save his friends, he would give up the world, because he's so trusting towards those who he is very good friends with. Strangers, he will practically ignore and 'freeze out'.

Rapidash
Nickname: Zippy
Gender: Male
Bio: Kamei saw Zippy as a Ponyta, and, predictably, challenged him to a fight, which he lost. When the Ponyta lost, Colin captured him, and trained him. Colin mainly used Zippy for transport. Zippy is a competitive soul, and will chase anything in the hopes of chasing it. Zippy never gives in, and is very brave. He also thinks of Amaterasu as his little sister, and is very protective of her.

Gardevoir
Nickname: Arcana
Gender: Female
Bio: Zippy found Arcana as a little Ralts, and rescued her from a gang of poachers. In turn, Arcana never left Zippy, and so Colin had to accept her into the team. Arcana is a sensitive and imaginative being, and often foresees the consequences of actions. She is very susceptible to criticism and will cry if judged too harshly.

RP Sample:
Colin stood at the last Elite Four member's door, and proceeded through. The room was dark, illuminated with lights all shades of purple. Colin swallowed nervously - the feeling was nervousness, and he was afraid that he had come so far just to lose. Out from curtains of sequins and gems came the last Elite Four member of the Indigo Plateau - Karen, the Dark-type trainer. Nodding, they introduced themselves, and began their battle.

Karen flung a Pokéball into the air, which cracked open, and in a burst of light, an Umbreon had appeared. Colin simply outstretched an arm, palm open and facing towards Karen, called, "Zippy, to arms!" The Rapidash simply trotted in front of the young trainer, and stood in a defensive stance. Suddenly, the Umbreon dashed forwards, and Colin just had enough time to call for a dodge before the Umbreon collided with the Rapidash. Colin yelled out, and Zippy whirled around the room, dashing in circles. Umbreon did not know where to attack.

The faster Zippy ran, the more fire was in the air, and soon enough, there was a column of flame, which engulfed the Umbreon, tossing it into the air and grinding it against the ceiling, burning it in the process. The pain was too much for the Umbreon to bear, and it crumpled down to the floor when the flame had stopped.

Speed is what I use, Colin thought.

When Colin had eliminated the others, there was only one of Karen's left - a Spiritomb. Colin knew that this thing had no weaknesses, and he did the same thing again. Palm facing outwards, he called, "Techno, to arms!" The little Porygon-Z zipped in front of Colin, and the Spiritomb immediately shot a beam of dark energy at the Virtual Pokémon. But too slow. Techno zipped around the thing, and began to glow a yellow colour. Zooming around the Spiritomb, it unleashed powerful electric zaps upon the thing.

The Spiritomb, however, had other plans. It unleashed energy in a 360 degree arc, but still, too slow. Colin's speed plan prevailed, and Techno easily downed the Dark/Ghost-type Pocket Monster. Colin had won.

[Johto Trainer]

Name: Paige Korper
Age: 13
Gender: Female

Appearance: Paige is average height for a girl her age, about 5 feet and 4 inches (I'm not sure if this is the exact average, though xD). Her hair is a bright red color (That's right, red head ) with purple highlights. Her hair goes down 2-3 inches below her shoulders and is wavy, mostly at the bottom. Her eyes are a dark brown color, and her skin is a pale white color. She wears a yellow T-shirt with a white pokeball symbol in the middle. She wears jeans shorts that are about 2 inches above her knees. Her sneakers are white and pink. She also ties a Purple hoodie around her waist, just in case it gets cold.


Personality: Paige is a very cheerful girl. She is kind and caring towards most people, except people that she would, for some reason, dislike. She can be a bit stubborn at times, especially when she loses, which can be a problem. She rarely gets afraid of anything, with the exception of heights, and pitch black caves. She loves the color Purple, and her favorite pokemon are Dragon and Water types (Mostly Dragon, but still likes water types).


History: Paige was born in Blackthorn city, Johto, which is probably why she became a Dragon type trainer. Her father works at the Blackthorn gym, and he is the referee for the gym battles. Her parents are good friends with Clair because of this. When Paige turned 10, Clair gave her 2 very special pokemon to begin her journey - a horsea, and a dratini. Paige was very excited, and couldn't wait to begin her journey.

Her goal was to become Blackthorn's new Gym Leader, but she first wanted to collect all 8 Johto badges. She traveled throughout Johto, collecting badges and capturing the rest of her team. By the time she was 13, she had defeated all 8 Gym leaders and had a full team of 6. She was about to take on the Elite 4, when she got invited to a cruise on the S.S Jewel, and to compete in the Jewel tournament. She was super excited, and gladly accepted her invitation. She gave her pokemon several pep talks to get them pumped and ready for the tournament.

RP Sample: Paige was thinking hard. She was facing Clair, the last Gym Leader of Johto. Clair's Kingdra had taken out all of Paige's pokemon - execpt one. Paige had to battle wisely, or things wouldn't be so good. "Ok, I'm counting on you, Shelly." She whispered. "Go! Shelly!" As the pokeball was thrown into the air, a purple Kingdra had emerged. "King!" The seahorse cried. "Let's finish this!"

Clair laughed. "Don't get too cocky, Paige! Go Kingdra, use Dragon Pulse!" The blue Kingdra attacked Shelly with a blue beam-like attack, that glistned in the light. "Let's see you beat me!" Clair joked.

As the dragon pulse approached Shelly, Paige had to act quickly. "Ok Shelly, hurry and dodge, then use Dragon Dance!" The purple Kingdra obeyed her trainer, and quickly dodged the attack. After this, Shelly performed a mystic dance that surronded her with clouds of black and red. "Great! Now you can move faster, and hit harder! But first, get some distance, and use Draco Meteor!" Shelly moved back and began gathering energy to unleash an attack.

Clair began to panick in her head, as she knew that this attack was powerful, and was a bit ashamed that her Kingdra didn't know such an attack. "Hurry Kingdra! Use Rain Dance, and then Waterfall!" The Kingdra began a dance that suddenly made rain appear. This would boost the Kingdra's speed, and make Water attacks stronger. Then, Clair's Kingdra began charging at Shelly, surronded by a veil of Water.

Paige giggled. Clair had made a mistake using Rain Dance, since that also made Shelly a bit faster. "Now, attack!" Shelly unleashed the Draco Meteor into the air, and several "meteors" fell towards Kingdra. The Kingdra moved swiftly enough to dodge the first few, but was hit hard by the attack. "Yes! Now Shelly, you use Waterfall!" Shelly began charging at Kingdra with great speed because of the Rain Dance and Dragon Dance.

"Kingdra! You must get up and dodge!" Kingdra quickly got it's act together and got up, but with Shelly so close. "Hurry, counter with Dragon Pulse!" Kingdra released another dragon pulse attack from it's snout and directly hit Shelly head-on. Shelly was sent flying to the other side of the field.

"Oh no! Shelly, tell me you're ok! Please get up!" Shelly slowly stood back up. "Great! Thank god you're ok! Now, another Dragon Dance, then Outrage!" Paige said. She prayed that the Outrage would work, and hope that the confusion wouldn't kick in. Shelly majestically danced once again, and then began rampaging, surronded by a red "aura", towards Kingdra.

"Kingdra, hurry, dodge!" But unfortunately for Kingdra, 2 Dragon Dances, plus Rain Dance, meant that Shelly was going very fast, and was hit stupendously hard. Clair could tell that Kingdra was greatly injured, but did not accept defeat. "Kingra, get up!" Clair shouted. The Kingdra got up out of desperation to win. "Now, use Waterfall!" Kingdra ran towards Shelly with a Waterfall attack.

"Ok, Shelly! Go head-on with Outrage again!" Shelly and Kingdra charged towards each other, both at there full power. As they approached each other, both Paige and Clair were getting worried that their pokemon may faint, and lose the battle. Then, they collided, and there was a small tremor in the gym. They were both sent flying back. But surely enough, Shelly stood right back up, and Kingdra had fainted, mostly because of the two Dragon Dances that Shelly had applied, which made Outrage much more powerful.

"Kingdra is unable to battle," The referee, Paige's father, announced. "which means that the challenger, Paige, is victorious, and will recieve a Rising Badge!"

Paige cheered with joy at her victory. "Yes! We did it, Shelly!" She ran and hugged her pokemon. "You deserve such a great rest." Paige pointed Shelly's pokeball at her pokemon, and Shelly retreated to it. Paige gladly walked past her father, and smiled. He gave her a proud look that said "Good job.", and she walked up to Clair to receive her 8th gym badge.

Clair was obviously upset, but accepted her defeat, since it was from a friend. She put her pokemon into a pokeball, and looked at Paige. "Congratulations on defeating me, and receiving your 8th badge of Johto." Clair smiled, and handed Paige the badge. "You very well deserve this, and now you can finally challenge the Elite 4!"

"Thank you so much, Clair! I won't dissapoint you! I'll see you soon!" Paige hurried out the gym, and Clair waved to her. She headed to the Pokemon Center to heal her team. Then, she went home, and knocked on the door. Her mother appeared in front of her. "I did it!"

Name: Avarice Baroque

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Appearance: Avarice has glossy jet black hair that falls to her shoulders, and black eyes. She is about 5'7", though she seems quite a bit shorter. Avarice wears a black off-the-shoulder long sleeve shirt adorned with burgundy lace and ribbons, a black knee-length skirt with burgundy ribbons and lace, a burgundy belt with a diamond studded silver buckle, and black boots with a burgundy satin ribbon at the heel. There's a small cluster of burgundy and white flowers in her hair, with matching ribbons streaming down the side of her head. Everything she wears looks expensive - because it is.

Personality: Avarice is known as "Black-Garbed Princess Avarice," because of her personality. Avarice, true to her name, loves everything fancy. Expensive clothes, gourmet food, gems that sparkle, anything with high value. And no matter what she wanted, she always got it. With rich parents, who wouldn't have anything? Not only that, Avarice is very arrogant, constantly looking down on those below her in rank, both socially and battle-wise.

However, Avarice isn't just some stuck-up princess. She's been known as somewhat of a scourge in battle, as her tactics are all over the place - constantly changing and evolving, though never with any emphasis on cuteness. Despite her princess-like and haughty demeanor, Avarice places high emphasis on Pokemon that can hold their own in a battle.

History: Hailing from the Resort Area of Sinnoh, Avarice is the only daughter of an incredibly rich family. She was treated like a princess no matter where she went in her hometown, to the point where it became customary to refer to her as "Princess Avarice." Her parents constantly pulled strings to get her what she desired, so when she asked for a Ralts, she received one a mere week later. Immediately, Avarice headed out with her Ralts, traveling to mainland Sinnoh to begin. At first, she would throw tantrums whenever she lost. However, when she began challenging the Gyms, she became incredibly cold, and started gaining massive amount of skill.

Eventually, Avarice became known as "Black-garbed Princess Avarice," due to her usual black clothes, royal demeanor, and unpredictable battling tactics. By this point, Avarice was about ready to challenge the Elite Four. She was told that they were unlike the gym leaders, but she marched in anyways, easily leaving a trail of tears and destruction in her wake. After all this, Avarice moved on to Hoenn, only to find everything much to easy. By the time she had defeated all 8 gyms, she had been in Hoenn for a mere month. Because of her unnatural skill, Avarice was asked to participate in the Jewel Tournament

Pokemon: Gallade [Prince]

Prince is Avarice's first pokemon, received when she had pestered her parents for a Ralts. Prince has always been a vital part of her team, what with his high attack and speed stats. He often gets into fights with Doll and Gui, as the three of them constantly argue over little things. Prince normally has a Crown Accessory on.

Dragonite [Lolidragon]

Dragonite is Avarice's third Pokemon, but was received through a trade for a rare shiny Dustox. At first, Lolidragon would never listen to Avarice. A few gym badges fixed that problem instantly. Lolidragon wears a bright red scarf as an accessory.

Mighteyena [Wolf]

Wolf is Avarice's fourth Pokemon, obtained during a Poocheyena swarm. Although Wolf is Avarice's fourth Pokemon, he's also the oldest. This is proven because he appears to be an older brother figure for Prince, Doll, and Gui, as he tends to break up their fights. Wolf's accessory is a muted yellow bandanna.

Marowak [Doll]

Doll is Avarice's fifth Pokemon. She is mainly used for her high defense and special defense stats, though she'll occasionally be used to surprise enemies with a Bonemerang attack. She has a good relationship with prince, but doesn't work well with Gui, so Avarice hardly ever uses Doll and Gui in double battles. Doll normally wears a pink ribbon as an accessory.

Togekiss [Guileastos]

Guileastos, or Gui, is Avarice's sixth Pokemon. Although Guileastos is his official nickname, he is commonly referred to by Avarice as Gui, due to his excessively long nickname. Though relatively calm, Gui is the little homo of Avarice's team, and obsesses over Prince. He wears a music note charm.

Typhlosion [Yulian]

Yulian is the seventh Pokemon, and last of Avarice's team. She is just like Avarice, haughty, but also greedy. She tends to be very ruthless in battle, especially if she's bribed with food. She wears a tiara accessory.

RP Sample: "Yulian, Doll, go!"

Avarice tossed two Pokeballs, and in a shower of flames and confetti, a Typhlosion and Marowak appeared. As she stared at her opponent, she vaguely wondered which Pokemon they would use. Her thoughts were quickly interrupted by the sudden arrival of a Jumpluff and a Kecleon.

"Piece of cake. Yulian, close in on the Kecleon, then take it out with a Focus Blast, take out the Jumpluff with Eruption. Doll, hold defensive for Yulian."

While the element of surprise allowed Yulian to catch Kecleon off guard with the Focus Blast, her Eruption had completely missed, allowing Jumpluff to sneak an attack at Doll. Doll blocked a number of Razor Leaves with her club, but fell prey to a Magical Leaf. Doll fell to the ground, then struggled up.

"Doll! Stone Edge, quick!"

Doll quickly shot off a number of rocks at the Jumpluff, catching it in the head. However, Doll was then taken out by Kecleon's replacement, a Gengar. Seeing the Ghost type was the basis for Avarice's decision to replace Doll with Wolf.

"Wolf! Crunch on the Gengar!"

Wolf dashed up to the Gengar, and sank his fangs into the ghost Pokemon, instantly KO'ing it on the spot.

"Alright, you win."

Avarice's opponent held up his hands in defeat, while returning his fainted Pokemon to their Pokeballs. Avarice, meanwhile, had gathered Yulian and Wolf over to her.

"Nice battle, Black-garbed Princess."

Her opponent made to shake hands, but Avarice brushed him off, saying, "Next time, up the level of your team," before stalking off, her two Pokemon at her side.

[Buoy]

Name: Clare Oakley

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Appearance: She has light brown, wavy hair that reaches down to her waist, and amber eyes, which have the same, strange swirling pattern as her twin brother's eyes. She has the same pale skin as her brother. She is tall for a girl at 6ft 4", an inch shorter than her twin, and weighs 105 lbs, just 5 lbs lighter than her brother. When in cold weather, she wears a light grey, floppy beanie cap which she keeps her hair tied up in, a lavender scarf, a light grey spencer coat, a purple polo-neck jumper, light grey ski trousers and a pair of lavender ski boots. When in warm weather, she wears a light grey corset with purple laces, with a three-quarter sleeved lavender shirt underneath. She wears tight, light grey jeans and a pair of lavender high-heels.

Personality: Clare likes making decisions on the basis of logic, using objective considerations, is concerned with truth, principles and justice, is analytical and critical, tending to see the flaws in situations and takes an objective approach to things. She will spend time thinking analytically, organising thoughts on a logical basis, develop an understanding of the principles involved in a situation, spontaneously feel critical of a person or situation, but not necessarily express that criticism and be inwardly decisive, but not communicate those decisions to others and think mostly about impersonal issues, focusing more on concepts, truths and systems rather than individuals' feelings. She will irritate others by focusing too much on the current task at the expense of longer term or interpersonal issues, not seeing the wood for the trees, not completing a task before moving on to the next one, not communicating her understanding of the situation, taking shortcuts and seeming to flit from one thing to another. Her favourite colour is purple/lavender and her favourite type of Pokémon is Steel.

Empoleon
Nickname: Emperor
Gender: Male
Bio: Clare found Emperor as an egg, which was floating by the Johto Radio Tower. How a Piplup egg came all the way from Sinnoh to Johto, no-one knew. It hatched soon, into a proud little thing. Clare and Emperor trained fiercely with each other, and they loved each other to bits. Emperor is an especially proud being, and will do anything just to please those who he likes. Despite being tough and proud, Emperor wants only one reward from those who he pleases - a hug.

Skarmory
Nickname: Stymphalian
Gender: Male
Bio: Emperor found Stymphalian wandering around, lonely, because he had recently lost his flock. Emperor brought Stymphalian back to Clare, who fretted over the poor thing, and decided to bring Stymphalian with her. She named him Stymphalian because she remembered reading about ancient creatures that were described exactly like the Skarmory species. Whilst Stymphalian isn't exactly smart, he's very brave, but quite clumsy at the same time. He's sweet, and that's why Clare likes him a lot.

Mawile
Nickname: Wiley
Gender: Female
Bio: Clare found Wiley in Blackthorn City, whilst she was visiting her uncle. Emperor trashed Wiley, who was threatening to eat Clare, and Clare managed to capture the savage thing. Under Clare's care, Wiley became less maniacal and savage, even becoming slightly ladylike. Even so, Wiley loves to play jokes on people, and is rather mischievous.

Ditto
Nickname: Slinky
Gender: Genderless, but Clare refers to it as female.
Bio: Clare found Slinky when she was travelling up to Ecruteak City. The Transform Pokémon leapt out at her and nearly scared her to death. Emperor tried to bat the thing away, but Slinky kept sliding around and slipping away by changing its structure. Slinky also managed to befriend Emperor by entertaining him, and now Emperor acts as Slinky's bodyguard, too. Slinky is a funny Pokémon, always finding a way to put a smile on somebody's face.

Houndoom
Nickname: Hellgar
Gender: Male
Bio: Clare found Hellgar as a Houndour whilst wandering through a forest. She had become lost, and had also lost Slinky and Emperor. However, Slinky and Emperor had found Hellgar, and he led them back to Clare, who he immediately became interested in and wanted to come with. Hellgar secretly fancies Clare, although he knows that trainers can't have romances with their Pokémon, so he yearns to become human. Hellgar, despite looking doomy, is actually one of the kindest Pokémon you can ever meet. He's also strangely a herbivore, and has forsworn meat for the future, just to please Clare. He's also been fed a lot of Iron and Zinc to make his defenses higher.

Altaria
Nickname: Altair
Gender: Female
Bio: Clare found Altair as a Swablu egg, which hatched at night-time. At the moment of hatching, Clare looked into the sky and saw the star Altair, so that is why she named the Pokémon so. Altair is a daydreamer, and is quite creative. She loves to lay at Clare's feet and sing or hum. She also loves warmth, and will often wrap herself in her own wings just to be cosy.

RP Sample:
Clare was in the Battle Tower, and she had just walked through Palmer's door. The room was strung with silver ribbons - a sign that this battle was for the Silver Print, which she would have loved to win. The blonde-haired Tower Tycoon hopped off of his little 'throne', and made his way towards Clare, shaking her hand and nodding to her. They introduced themselves, and Palmer quickly started the battle off by sending out his Milotic, at which point Clare had sent out Wiley.

A blue orb appeared in Milotic's mouth, and a powerful Hydro Pump blasted towards Wiley, who simply turned around and let her massive maw swallow the water - all of it. When Milotic stopped, Wiley's massive jaw began to glow, and a powerful beam shot out of it, hitting Milotic full on, resulting in it being thrown against the wall and severely damaged. Clare grinned at Wiley - this was going great. However, Milotic was not down yet. Its tail began to glow blue, and it slammed it down upon Wiley. However, by this time, Wiley was glowing a silver colour - Iron Defense!

They always find it hard to get past my defenses, Clare thought.

As the tail pressed down, Wiley was crumpling with pressure, but suddenly, she thrust her whole body upwards, smashing her head into Milotic and whacking it against the ceiling. Milotic had fainted by the time it had reached the ground.

After this, Clare went on to defeat Rhyperior and Dragonite, winning herself the silver print.

Riff has long blonde hair and ice blue eyes.She wears matching eyeshadow and has diamonds all around her eyes.

Riff believes she is some sort of evil angel,and wears all black to prove it along with a pair of black angel wings.She wears a black minidress,black and blood red biker boots and fishnet gloves,black fishnet tights and several necklaces.

Riff also carries an onyx electric guitar.It is extremely thin but still manages to hold all her pokeballs in a secret compartment.

Personality: Riff is generally not evil unless you make her furious.She just likes to look evil and dangerous.But,yeah,now that you think about it,she is dangerous.Riff is an expert guiter player and singer,which is why she is called Riff,like a guitar riff.Music is Riff's life,it's the fuel she needs to keep her going.Riff is quite cocky and very confident and sometimes a tad too much but nobody cares.Riff is very wild and crazy and always up for a challenge,so some of her rivals call her 'Riff Raff'.Although Riff wears quite a lot of black,her favourite colour is white.Her favourite type of pokemon is the flying type.All of the pokemon in her party are of the flying type apart from Larvitar.

History: Riff was born and raised in Goldenrod City in Johto,but got the Magnet Train to Kanto to get her starter pokemon because her three siblings already had all of the Johto starter pokemon.However,Riff travelled back to Johto a day later because she 'Just wanted to give everyone back home a head start' and began her journey from Twinleaf Town so 'The competition wouldn't be unfair'.Fair and square,Riff defeated all the gym leaders and the Elite Four before anyone else without even trying.Riff politely declined position as Champion before moving onto Kanto to gather all the gym badges with great ease whilst solving a few problems that were happening in Kanto and Johto and see a few rare pokemon.Riff then travelled to the Hoenn and Sinnoh region to gather more gym badges,but refused to challenge the Elite Four because she didn't have the time or responsibility to become the champion of another region.Riff did visit the Battle Frontier in every region and enjoyed battling the Frontier Brains because they were 'Much more challenging than the Elite Four!'.Riff is also an expert Pokeathlete and a bit of a Coordinater.

Riff travelled to Pallet Town to specifically get a Charizard because her siblings already had all the starters from Johto.From then on,they became insperable.

-Fury (Gyarados)

Riff caught Fury as a Magikarp when she was quite young.She was fishing with her friends in the National Park with an old rod they had found.A Magikarp bit the rod and her friends wanted to throw it back in,but Riff had already caught it.Her friends laughed at her for catching such a pointless pokemon.But they pretty much stopped laughing when Riff turned up at their houses two days later with a Gyarados.

-Malisse (Drifblim)

Riff caught Malisse when she was a Drifloon.Riff had been passing past the Valley Windworks with Baby trailing after her slowly because he'd just eaten a tiny hill so the people in Floroama could plant some more stupid berries or something.Riff had been warned by the people that a pokemon that looked like a purple balloon called Drifloon could try and take her pokemon away if they grabbed onto it.Riff agreed to watch out for a purple balloon,which was why she ignored the yellow floating thing behind her whilst trying to read her brand new poketch.Naturally,Larvitar grabbed onto it.Riff suddenly heard a scream come from behind her and turned around to see a yellow Drifloon yelling in pain because it couldn't lift the usually light Larvitar after it had eaten a hill.Larvitar,bored,yanked the Drifloon down and tossed it towards the ground,enabling Riff to catch it.

-Fang (Gliscor)

Riff had been travelling from Blackthorn City to Twinleaf Town when she came across a blue Gligar.It had been staring at Xanthe.Xanthe stared right back.It was the stupidest staredown known to man.Why the blue Gligar wanted to outstare a pokemon that stared into the sun all day,nobody knew.But the instant Gligar blinked,Xanthe leapt forward to attack.She missed,but the Gligar pretended to be injured.A few minutes passed and he hadn't moved,so Riff caught it.Riff later realised Gligar wanted Riff to catch him so he could have another stare-down at Xanthe.When he realised he couldn't ever win,he stopped bugging Xanthe and aimed to become an incredibly strong yet not necessarily wise pokemon by evolving into Gliscor.Gliscor loves pranks and laughs all the time,which is why Riff named him Fang,because when Fang smiles you can see his sharp fangs.

-Xanthe (Xatu)

Xanthe was first given as an egg to Riff when she saved an old woman's Wynaut when visiting her friend Flannery,the gym leader of Lavaridge.In exchange for the Wynaut,the old lady gave her a green egg that had been found in the hot springs.The egg hatched into a Natu and became one of Riff's best pokemon,what with such incredible knowledge and wisdom in battle.Xanthe's knowledge was lengthened when she evolved into a Xatu,enabling her to see into the future.

-Baby (Larvitar)

Baby was found as an egg when Riff was climbing Mt. Silver.His mother,a Tyrannitar had rejected it because it was an unexpected second egg.Riff felt sorry for the egg and looked after it,thinking it was a flying-type pokemon because it was an egg.3 days later,much to Riff's surprise,the egg hatched into a Larvitar.Neverless,Riff adored the little pokemon and gave him an everstone so Baby would never evolve.It's no secret that Baby is Riff's favourite pokemon.
