The wolf must have a superpower that makes Ash do stuff that he'd never do: neglecting Pikachu, actively going for a Mega Ring and Mega Stone, actively visiting released Pokemon...Next time it could make him age lol

With Serena being 99% confirmed for JN105, it's rather ironic that the 25th anniversary month is dedicated almost exclusively to the series that had the least continuity to the others.

Not gonna lie being trained by Greninja might not be the best setup for an ace going against someone with a Charizard.

Well first off, I just gotta say (and I'm sure I'll say this again,) but damn this is month really is dedicated to XY, isn't it? Clemont, Bonnie, Greninja, and now it's been confirmed Serena too. Just.......

That aside, this episode may hold some promise. As for the whole Lucario training with Greninja thing, we'll see what comes out of that. Wonder if we'll see Ash-Greninja in this episode? Just please, please, let Greninja return this time, at some point or another. There's literally no reason to keep it in Kalos anymore (same goes for Goodra too.)

I'd argue Goodra still has a valid reason to stay around Kalos but yeah the vine things didn't really need to somehow still be around. Don't think Greninja should like return as a team member or anything but they do deserve to get to be brought back to Oak's lab with Ash's other mons.
Ehhhhh, if you ask me, Goodra only stayed there because Ash told it to. You're right though, they should all get together at Oak's. (Maybe, maybe even Naganadel too.)

Sure, Leon's Charizard has no BURASTO BAAN shenanigans, but he does have G-Max Wildfire, which has so far been depicted as hilariously overpowered due to how it keeps repeatedly attacking and seems to be unblockable, undodgeable, and seemingly prevents the target from even moving and leaves them wide open.

Well, the move, indeed, inflicts continuous damage, is "unblockable", since it bypass protect moves, and is undodgeable, since it can't to miss. It could be that the anime G-Max Wildfire version is, then, only half overpowered.

If Lucario beats Gigazard despite having a type disadvantage I'll feel sorry for the froggo cause I do not think the memes will be kind to him (though based off what happened with Lycanroc every major Ash success from now on might trigger Greninja mockery).
Calling it now, the real reason Greninja is being brought back to mentor Lucario is because it'd serve as a sort of redemption for the frog by proxy if Lucario does indeed beat Charizard as a direct result of the training it got with Greninja.

Yes, I do know that the depiction is accurate to the games, but I still can't help but find it hilarious at how much more powerful the anime makes it look. Especially since in the games the continuous damage is relatively minor and only lasts a few turns while the way the anime makes it look implies the afterstrikes are just as powerful as the first and are seemingly endless until the target drops.

It won't count for me; if they want Gekkouga to get redemption, he must fight and win on his own.

I also don't believe that Lucario has any real chance to beat Kyodaimax Lizardon, even with this training.

I agree. Can't let someone else get the win for you. As for Lucario's chances of beating Charizard, it probably won't, considering Greninja lost with a type neutrality, and Lucario has a type disadvantage.

I've considered the idea, but honestly I suspect Pikachu is going to beat Leon's Charizard if anyone does. There's a precedent since Drake, Brandon, and Kukui were all finished off by the 'chu (each of Ash's major victories), we already saw Mega overcome Gigantimax (but not Z-move VS Gigantimax), and Leon being the "world's strongest" means it would be thematically fitting for Ash's starter to overcome him.

Also instead of a weakness Pikachu had an advantage against Charizard but we all know that doesn't matter much, heh.
Although depends on who writes that episode I might change my mind (I have a bit of a conspiracy theory that Tomioka doesn't like Pika much so if he writes it I consider it a bit less likely Pikachu beats Charizard).

I agree, if anyone defeats Leon's Charizard it'll be the 'chu.
Lucario gets hit by Charizard’s ultimate attack
Greninja: Dooooooooddddgggeeee!!!!!!
Was that a.......Dragon Ball Z abridged quote? If so, nice. Props.
