Ok so first this is NOT a debate about how weak Ash's Johto pokemon may seem (as I believe is a common opinion among many fans)

I think some of Ash's Johto pokemon need more air-time at least just to remember that they are there apart from brief cameos when he goes home.

I'm not saying right now or anything just maybe use some during the Sinnoh pokemon league finals to good effect or maybe in the next season for awhile.

My vote is for Totodile, because of his fun personality, or Cyndaquil for some further development, either way I think they should also evolve. Bayleaf was way overused as it was and noctowl was ok but kinda boring. Heracross could use some further development especially considering how little time it was on Ash's team before being ditched.

Anyways what do you think?

None of them are likely to get a significant amount of screen time anymore, but as for who I would like to see back, that would be Noctowl and Bayleef. Noctowl was interesting and had some abilities that made it different from typical Normal/Flying Pokémon, and I liked Bayleef's character. I don't have too much of a connection to the others.

Only one I can seen coming back and being fledged out more than the others (from an advertising perspective mostly), is Totodile. Bayleaf is a possible no-no since it has evolved once, was the most developed of the Jouto starters AND Ash already has Sceptile, Grotle and Bulbasaur, who have either evolved or proven to be really strong. Then there's Cynda, at first he was my choice for returning if there where to be Jouto Remakes..but with Monferno and also taking Charizard into consideration..no. I could careless about Noctowl, but it does have an interesting move pool.

And Ash is in need of a water powerhouse, I could totally see Totodile being redeemed and evolved all the way.

Bayleaf needs to come back. I want to see if it still has that crush on Ash

I think Bayleef, Cyndaquil and Totodile will make reappearences during the inevitable (and pretty much confirmed now) return to Johto. I forsee Cynda and Toto both evolving at least once, Toto hopefully all the way so Ash finally has the fully evolved water starter he so desperately needs.

I would love for Totodile to reappear, unless it evolved. I don't like Feraligator, and Croconaw is just okay IMO. I think if they needed to showcase more old pokemon, they'd use Noctowl (it's a shiny Noctowl and is much more marketable), or Cyndaquil (it could evolve and still be a relatively cute pokemon).

HELL YEAH. I'd be in support of any and all of them coming back for anything. If I had to pick one, though, it'd be Heracross, if only for the fact that it's a Heracross.

Bayleef. And you keep making the wron gkind of polls. We need to OR only pick one of them OR you have to get rid of the "more then one" option ;)

Waninoko (or possibly Hinoarashi). I liked Waninoko's personality but I can't remember it doing much. Bayleaf was (IMO) ridiculously annoying, and it got enough pimping in Jouto itself. I don't care at all for the rest xD

Probably Bayleef. Easily the most developed/interesting personality of the bunch.

Realistically I can see them being used for a battle, but the only one I could see returning to Ash's travel roster is possibly Totodile, simply because Grotle/Monferno negate the other two from returning.

Heracross and Donphan are reserve Pokemon, they're used with his others.

1): Heracross is an overly-used pokemon in the anime so there is no reason for Ash to reuse it again.
2): Bayleef seems to be a good choice, but it'll probably end up in Dawn's hands anyway (just like Ambi). BTW it is a habit for the writers to start fresh, as in the starters. They won't bring in an evolved starter from Gen II back. Expect yet another Chikorita.
3): Cyndaquil is a fair choice, but its nitch has already been filled by Monferno. Maybe Cyndaquil will finally evolve. There have been at least 3 occassions I could count (got miltank, olivine gym battle, and magby episode) where people expect Cyndaquil to evolve but it didn't. Its evolution, Quilava, has already been featured in an episode of Diamond and Pearl.
4): Totodile is a pokemon with a lot of character, but frankly it would have been better. It looks like the kind of pokemon that may get itself in trouble with Piplup if it travels with the group. Totodile really lacked overall battle experience and now that Misty is gone, its nitch as a water pokemon may help it. We have not seen that many Croconaw in the anime, but it has been seen in DP029.
5): Ash will probably use Noctowl if he Oaks Staraptor and/or Gliscor. Noctowl's only purpose was the same as any other primary flying type pokemon he had. Noctowl was fairly weak in battle and its only exceptional trait was that it was shiny.
6): Donphan was already used in Battle Frontier, so it has been milked out for all of its worth.

Permanently, none of them!

Think about it. They've already been through Johto once. It'd be boring for them if they traveled all over Johto, once again. They never visited the Kanto Region (Pallet Town excluded), the Hoenn Region, and the Sinnoh Region.

I have nothing against Ash using his old Johto Pokémon temporarily. But permanently, in the Johto Region? Again? Not for me. :/

Basically, Ash's party should look like this, in my opinion:

- Pikachu
- Kingler
- Muk, PLEASE.
- Monferno/Infernape
- Free space
- Free space

For the 2 free spaces, Oak would send Ash either Bayleef, Totodile/Croconaw (yes, even if Ash's got Kingler), Cyndqauil/Quilava/Typhlosion (yes, even if Ash's got Monferno/Infernape), Noctowl, or Heracross. The 4 Pokémon I listed should stay on Ash's team for the whole journey across Johto. I repeat, Ash would ask Oak to send him Bayleef, Totodile, Cyndqauil, Noctowl, or Heracross as temporary Pokémon.

Oh, I'd love to see Muk actually on Ash's travel roster for once.

I can see why Kingler/Tauros went to Oak's immediately, but I always wish Muk stayed awhile before being left at Oak's.

I just thought of something. Ash's second kanto adventure brought back phanpy, a unevolved previous gen pokémon. So who'll be brought on the second johto trip? Yeah, Corphish! I actually think he has more chance of returning then anyone else.

Out of the Johto team, Totodile actually does have the best shot of coming back, since the others contradict to Ash's starters. I see Noctowl coming back to do something though, same for Cyndaquil, Bayleef, Donphan, and Heracross, but Totodile has the best shot of traveling again.

Phanpy was brought back since it was caught very late in Johto and barely did anything
It couldn't come to Hoenn since Ash had this whole "new beginning" thing
With that logic, it's Glalie who should return... or even Torkoal, but certainly not Corphish who got a lot of screen time

It's obvious Ash will take back at least one if not two (or even all three) of his Johto starters
Sinnoh alone is going to be around the length of the whole AG so the Sinnoh team will get more than enough screen time, about as much as the AG team got (if not more)
They'll want thing to be a little more fresh for the next two years, not keep the same team for two more years

I agree. It's kinda surprising to see people who would want Corphish to come back, rather than Muk, Kingler, and other underused Pokémon that Ash owns.

But... Corphish hasn't evolved yet, which is the whole essence of a come-back. That's why muk or kingler probably won't return. Neither would heracross or noctowl. Corphish would be perfect, just because he's funny and has a perfect chance of ever evolving.

If they wanted it to evolve, they'd probably do back in AG... I think they simply want it to stay unevolved... just like some other Poké like Bulbasaur
Not all the Poké have to evolve
Totodile is much more likely than Corphish
