JJBA is one of the most popular and successful anime and manga series ever made. I quite enjoy this show and I know others around here do as well. So, with Part 4, Diamond is Unbreakable, starting up soon I thought we should have a discussion thread. Thoughts? Please label any manga spoilers as such.

I was excited when DiU's adaption was announced to say the least. It came completely out of left field thanks to the lack of foreshadowing and the animation seems amazing so far. I'm expecting good things from DiU, though I am curious as to what the OP and ED will be like this time around. DiU has quite a tough act to follow given the amazing OPs/EDs we've had up to this point.

I love DiU, it's the only part of the manga I've read, for reasons, partially due to waiting on my partner to finish it so we can do the rest together, though i intend to buy the english releases of P1 and P2.

I should finish P3's anime, but anyway the only thing I'm kinda iffy about with DiU is Josuke's face but the more I analyze it, the more I find it's not too off from what he looks like by the end of it. And everyone else is fine, so ey it might not bother me by the time it's here.

I was a little worried when looking at the concept art though. Jotaro looked hilariously off model, but they released official character art later that was more proper.

Yeah, I get you. It's how un-defined his nose is more than anything I think. In the manga it's defined mostly through shading with the anime doesn't do, but the more I look at stuff I think it'll be alright.

Does make me wonder what further adaptations will look like if they make it past P4. (Hey, never say never, right?)

Yep. I dunno about that though, licensing money on that might be a bit out there...if we did though, that'd be a thing.

This image from the site is the best looking so far. Love it. We're a month away with no official start date yet though, huh. Gotta tell us soon, right?

I'm expecting a Queen, David Bowie, or Pink Floyd ED myself. Given the trend with the EDs being Western songs. .w.;

Personally hoping for songs from 1999, it'd be amusing as all heck :ROFLMAO:

But also because Stardust Crusaders had period appropriate music for EDs lol

(Walk like an Egyptian was a number one song for 1987, and Last Train Home came out that year too. Story takes place in '87-'88)

Was in alone in disliking Stardust Crusaders "monster of the week" format? This issue pretty much faded in S2, but I found many of the Stand fights in S1 fairly boring, especially after Battle Tendency.

I didn't mind most of the opponents in SC, but that's probably because Vento Aureo (Part 5) REALLY desensitized me. The opponents in the Egypt Arc were definitely more interesting though.
Another reason might be the fact that Stardust Crusaders is honestly my favorite part

I'd say I go Battle Tendency > Stardust Crusaders > Phantom Blood.

Joseph and the style of BT really pushes it above the other two, but I did enjoy the characters of SC (with the exception of Jotaro) quite a bit as well.

Well, it is true I liked Part 5's opponents more but it's probably cause part 5 was only a monster of the week arc for like half of its run xD I don't mind Part Iv's either probably because of just how wacky the situations are.

And I agree, Joseph is my favorite Jojo overall, only a little bit ahead of jolyne.

I wasn't really interested in any of the opponents in SC until D'arby the gambler

I watch MOTW stuff regularly because I like it, so not really an issue for me personally.

Having seen the 1st 2 seasons of the anime and now currently continuing to finish the second half of SC, and having read DiU, I like Jonathan and Josuke the most thus far. I guess I'm a sucker for the purer hearted. :D

I've only watched the first three parts (the 2012 series and Stardust Crusaders). I enjoyed the 2012 series so much more than Stardust Crusaders. It's not to say that Stardust Crusaders did nothing of value, I just did not like how formulaic it was compared to the 2012 series. The last episodes were great, though.

I don't have a whole lot of faith for Diamond is Unbreakable because another aspect I really enjoyed about the parts I've seen were the variety of settings, the European and American settings of the 2012 series I really enjoyed. Diamond is Unbreakable looks like it is set entirely in Japan. How many anime have I (understandably) seen in that setting? lol

The setting was so fun in the 2012 series, though. The way it created characters from European history (and gave them names from ELP albums and the like, lol) and then came around and made me like a German military character from a time that we're not supposed to. D:

I hope they keep up the music references. Sadly, the CR subbing of SC made me miss a whole lot of them. Like the captain of a ship in one of the early episodes was a reference to Captain and Tennille, but the way they subbed it, it was impossible to get that, whereas in the 2012 series a lot of them may not have been perfectly accurately subbed (for licensing reasons, obviously), but you were still able to tell what the reference was.

CR, get it together!

Dan of Steel - We'll get that!
Captain Dragon - No one is going to get that!

I've read up to Steel Ball Run myself. SBR and SC are probably my favorite parts overall. It's a real shame SBR won't be adapted for like 10 years though. : s
I liked Stardust Crusaders largely due to the premise appealing to me. The sense of adventure combined with the likable main cast endeared it to me a lot. Best part of SC is definitely the latter half though, with more intense fights and awesome moments for each member of the main cast. (Unless you're Kakyoin in which case your best moment doesn't happen till very late in the second half. rip in pepperoni)
I'd probably say my favorite JoJos are Joseph and Jotaro.
