Hi, im new to this forum (to tell the truth, i joined for the christmas contests) but i noticed there are ALOT of intro threads.

on of the forums i frequent most used to have this issue, and as new people joined, the majority of threads disappeared under a deluge of 'hi! im new here! threads. so, we made a thread, called 'the official introduction thread' for people to introduce themselves. and, at different intervals, certain members took it upon themselves to be the un-official welcoming commitee, go in once or twice a day, point the newbies in the direction of help, chat, etc, and thank them for joining.

i just thought it would be cool to have something like that here.
it also gives people who would like to be mods, but cant, for whatever reason, a way to be... i dont want to say more important, or anything like that, oh well, im sure you guys know what i mean.

I'm in the "New Posts" section about 90% of the time I spend on these forums and the intro threads are not a issue what-so-ever. I don't know about you but I've seen the Shipping, Pokemon Video Games and Fun and Games thread's bury other threads down the list then anything else.

If that makes sense.

Given that all the intro threads are in here I don't think it'll really effect the rest of the forum.

Oh and
WELCOME TO BULBAGARDEN

I think it makes a person feel a tad more important here when they have their own introduction and people coming there to say hi, instead of going onto the big thread and saying to multiple people, "Welcome new members." It's more consumer friendly. If a site wants to survive, it has to make its users happy.

Please note: The thread is from 16 years ago.
Please take the age of this thread into consideration in writing your reply. Depending on what exactly you wanted to say, you may want to consider if it would be better to post a new thread instead.
