In Academy Events, players team up with a special Sync Pair, who initially only knows a single move. These Sync Pairs are released starting at Lv. 140, with the ability to be raised to 6★ EX, and the ability to unlock an EX Role. During your Academy Experience, the event's featured Sync Pair will have a special In-Training Sync Grid. After completing the Final Exam stage, players will be able to select the Sync Grid they'd like to retain as their completed grid for the Sync Pair, which will then apply from then on when the pair is used outside the Academy Event. Over the course of the event, as players battle and interact with other Trainers at the Pasio Academy, they will acquire exclusive Sync Orbs and TM Orbs to upgrade and customize this Sync Pair with different Passive Skills and moves. The amount of items that players can acquire is limited, so players will need to think long and hard about exactly what kind of Sync Pair you want to raise their Sync Pair to be. If you get it wrong or want to try out another combination though, there's no stress! Players are free to can complete and replay each Academy Event as many times as they like over the course of the event until they get the Sync Pair of their dreams, however every time the event is restarted the Sync Pair's upgrades will also be reset. Each time the event is fully completed, players receive 4× Custom 5★ Power-Ups for the event's featured Sync Pair, with any excess able to be traded in the exchange. Each Academy Event also includes a set of exclusive stories, which appear at random, giving players another incentive to repeat the event if they've not yet managed to unlock every single one.

As of the last Academy Event back in April, several quality of life changes have been made to the event format to make it easier to play. Most notably, special area info allowing players to acquire large numbers of custom Sync Orbs will gradually appear more easily from the second playthrough of the event onwards, meaning most players should be able to end up with an S+ rank Sync Pair with enough attempts; and players can skip certain battles by using Skip Tickets after having previously completed the same battle without any Sync Pairs fainting. Please note that the Exam battles, as well as battles with Recommended Levels of 140 or higher, cannot be skipped.

The featured Sync Pair for this latest Academy Event is 5★ Juliana & Chimecho. All players will unlock Juliana & Chimecho immediately after completing the initial introductory story.

Similar to regular Story Events, players will receive an amount of bonus rewards if they take on event battles using teams that feature specific sync pairs. The more of these sync pairs that players place in their lineup, the greater the bonus received. The applicable Sync Pairs and reward rates for this event are as follows:
These bonuses stack additively, so having a team consisting of Juliana & Chimecho, and any two other Paldea sync pairs would grant a combined +70% (×1.7) rewards.

Players should also note the following when playing this event:
  • To participate, unlock Juliana & Chimecho's 6★ EX status, or unlock Juliana & Chimecho's EX Role, players must have completed Main Story Chapter 1: The More the Merrier (Normal) in single-player.
  • The sync pairs that appear as opponents in battle have different capabilities than those players can actually obtain.
Log-in Bonuses
The Academy Event Support Log-In Bonus will be held twice during Academy Event: Pasio Festival of Masks, with one bulk reward each time:
  • First Run: July 30th at 10:59pm (PDT) through August 6th at 10:59pm (PDT)
    • Day 1: Stamina Ticket ×5
  • Second Run: August 6th at 10:59pm (PDT) through 13th at 10:59pm (PDT)
    • Day 1: Stamina Ticket ×5
Gem Specials
In conjunction with the launch of this Academy Event, the following three Gem Specials will be available in the purchase gems tab of the in-game shop until July 1st, at 10:59pm (PDT):
  • 48h July event gem special 1: Gems ×1,000
  • 48h July event gem special 2: Gems ×4,000
  • 48h July event gem special 3: Gems ×10,000

EX Fair Scouts

Carmine (Alt.) & Mightyena and Florian (Alt.) & Yanmega make their debuts in separate EX Fair Scouts running alongside the launch of the Pasio Festival of Masks Academy Event. Both scouts will run through to August 17th, at 10:59pm (PDT).

EX Fair Scouts are effectively the Poké Fair equivalent of the recent EX Master Fair Scouts, with an offering rate of 2% for the featured EX Master Sync Pair, 1% for additional featured 5★ Fair-Exclusive Sync Pairs (0.5% each), and 10% for other 5★ Sync Pairs, which may include other Fair-Exclusive Sync Pairs. Like with normal Poké Fair Scouts, EX Fair Scouts require 400 scout points before players are able to get a free selection of any one Sync Pair available in the Scout.

The two Fair-Exclusive Sync Pairs who will join Carmine (Alt.) & Mightyena in the Carmine EX Fair are Sygna Suit Cyrus & Darkrai, and Giacomo & Kingambit. Joining Florian (Alt.) & Yanmega in the Florian EX Fair Scout meanwhile are Sygna Suit Hilbert & Genesect, and Alder & Volcarona.

The two EX Fair scouts each include daily discounts, where players can perform a single scout for ×100 paid gems. This daily discount can be used 1 time per day during the entire length of the scout. The first twelve times players perform a Sync Pair Scout ×11 for the Carmine and Florian EX Fairs, they will also receive the following respective bonus presents:
  • 1st-4th Scout: Support/Strike Move Candy Coin ×1
  • 5th Scout: Superawakening Candy ×1
  • 6th-9th Scout: Support/Strike Move Candy Coin ×2
  • 10th Scout: Superawakening Candy ×1
  • 11th-12th Scout: Support/Strike Move Candy Coin ×2
In addition, players who team up with Brassius & Sudowoodo or Hassel & Baxcalibur in these scout will also receive Field/Sprint Roll Cake ×4 and 5★ Power-Up ×4 each time they scout the pair, up to 5 times.

Carmine (Alt.) & Mightyena are a 5★ Dark-type Support Role Sync Pair with an unlockable Field EX Role. Raising them to 6★ EX Status changes their outfit from a Jinbei in shades of blue with a yellow obi belt to one with shades of grey and a red obi belt. Similar to past EX Fairs from Academy Events, Carmine (Alt.) & Mightyena are designed to significantly debuff opponents to make things easier for your Dark-type physical attackers. Their Dazzling Jinbei Look Passive Skill will apply a Paldea Circle (Physical) to the field of play when they first enter battle, as well as applying the Endure and Restore effect to Carmine (Alt.) & Mightyena themselves. Their Sharp Fangs Crunch move is activated by an allied Circle being in play, and will lower the target's Defense by three stat ranks, and increases the Physical Moves ↑ Next effect of all allied sync pairs by two ranks. The first time it is used successfully in each battle, it also applies the Physical Move Break effect to the target, as well as turning the field of play into a Dark Zone.

Florian (Alt.) & Yanmega are a 5★ Bug-type Field Role Sync Pair with an unlockable Strike (Physical) EX Role and the ability to Sync Terastal. Raising them to 6★ EX Status changes their outfit from light shades of green, to one in dark green and red. Despite an entirely different set of roles, Florian (Alt.) & Yanmega function in a similar way to Carmine (Alt.) & Mightyena in that they are designed to debuff opponents while boosting their own side's Bug-type attacks. Their Jadeite Tera Blast Terastal Move hits all opponents with a strong attack while also lowers all target's Defense by two stat ranks, and turning the field of play into a Bug Zone the first time the move is successful each battle. Their Zipping Lunge move, which can be used once after each time an ally uses a Sync Move, hits all opponents with an attack that lowers all target's Attack by three stat ranks, and applying the Free Move Next effect to Florian (Alt.) & Yanmega.
