I got the summons a few days ago. Share your experiences!

Actually, I got called up a few years ago but they didn't pick me.

And I'm going to have to defer, since I'm going to be out of the state when they called me in for. Anyone have any experience with that?

I got a summons a few months ago, but I don't live in that county right now, so I got out of it.

I got called in last year. Spent the entire day in the jury pool, never left except for lunch. Not a single call-up, let alone an assignment. Managed to read the majority of a 300 page book, though. Was fun, all things considered. Not the horror most people make it out to be (both of my parents had been called up a few months before me, so I had plenty of stories to listen to).

Let's see. The very first year I was eligible to be called for jury duty, I was. I was called up within 10 minutes of them starting, and selected to serve on a jury for a murder trial. I think the trial lasted.. two weeks? The middle of the second week, I missed the bus to go downtown and had to call in, and got dismissed from service (I was quite glad; it was a little nerve wracking serving on a trial like that).

I think I got a summons the next year too, but since I had served on a trial the year before, I was able to get out of that. I think I just sent back the summons they sent me with a note on the back.

And I thiiiink it was last year that I got summoned for, like, a couple days after Christmas. But that got pushed back to the first week of the year. And then got pushed back to the first week of the new year. I went in and AGAIN got called up within a few minutes of them starting. We had to walk down to another courthouse where we got interviewed (I think it was a DUI case) but I wasn't selected. So we got back to re-check in and we were all told we could go home. So I was out of there by noon.

I'm 18 and have yet to be summoned. The minimum age in most areas is 21 or 18. Seems like it would be quite a drag. If I were to be called in, it would screw over my work schedule and college schedule.

Hi to GrnMarvl from a fellow OKlahoman :D

Never been called up. Although I live in a pretty small county where we don't really have much to get called up for. We've lived in our house over 10 years and my mom has been called up one (not chosen) and my dad never has been.

I've never been called either, oddly enough. Maybe I move around too much.

I've never been called yet. But here's what I think, why the heck don't the have it as a profession rather than just calling whoever the hell they feel like? I mean would they call in an ordinary person to be the judge? I don't think so! That's why I think jury duty in my opinion is stupid.

They do it because there would be less bias than someone who is regularly chosen for the job. The fact that they try to isolate the Jury helps too.

I'm ineligible because I've got dual citizenship with priority to Canada, even though I left that country when I was 2 months old. I'd renounce it but it just seems to be better to keep it because I gain tax breaks and don't need a passport if I ever want to visit.

That's a good point, I guess I get annoyed because once you get summoned, it's almost impossible to get out of it, I just think it should be optional but with good pay.
