For years, there has always been huge amounts of conflict between the three main "Ash" ships, Pokeshipping, Advanceshipping and Pearlshipping. Each one says they are right and the other ones are wrong. We point fingers at eachother in order to prove that the shipping that we support is the right one and should be made cannon. This causes useless conflict in the forums and brings nobody closer to proving their ship is the "real one".

Each faction blames the others for this...Yet there is one group of people that deserve all the blame. I speak of none other than the very writers of pokemon. These people deem to give us hints here and there, but when it comes to something concrete, they fail to deliver and end up making that girl leave the show. They make sure Ash dosn't ever...ever get the girl. Who else here thinks that we should stop this useless shipping war and unite to go up to the writers and say:

"you need to focus on a ship, it dosn't matter which one, just get Ash a freaking date"

What are your thoughts on this?

They don't need to focus on a pairing. :/ That's not what the show is about, so what's the point? To stop people from running their mouths and lacking common sense? Nothing's gonna fix that.

I say they should just have the official couple slipped in, like Misty kissing Ash on the cheek at Cerulean Cape.

The writers don't have to do anything. They don't care about some kids on a forum with too much time on their hands.

While it is obvious the writers do like shipping, as that stuff is in the anime, they don't go too far with it because Pokemon is not that kind of show.

what about a classic one two? ash picks one (misty) and brock gets the other two. Everyone's happy!

Ash is still too young emotionally to be with a girl, IMO. The main focus of the show is not romance, it's Pokemon (hence the name). Plus, I like the ambiguity of the whole situation. It leaves everyone at a somewhat equal chance at supporting their ship. I don't really care who Ash ends up with, since I pair for fun and not for seriousness. That's why I don't like it when ships are resolved. One faction of the fandom grows a bit elitist towards the others. *sigh* (curse you avatar and HP)

No ships should be resolved until the end of the show. Until then, just let everyone have their fun. It's the waiting and debating where the real fun of shipping is anyway.

No 'ship should be resolved, ever (except ultimately Contestshipping, but only because they actually went that extra mile with the romance element, only to stop short of the finish line on purpose, and they need to either outright kill it or canonize it).

Why? Because this show isn't about love, it's about the drama-action-adventure (all romance are character subplots or filler side-plots). And if they actually took time to turn Ash's head away from everything pokémon-related...well, hey, that's rather OOC of him.

Besides, they're all wrong. Poke/Advance/Pearl have nothing on Boulder. X)

You guys ever heard of the phenomenon called "Bed Death"? It basically means that whenever the couple finally gets around to consumating the relationship, the fiery spark of romance that was before is extinguished...the excitement is gone.

Obviously, Pokemon isn't going to have sex in it, but the notion stands. Whenever shows conclude their ships, those subplots get boring. That's why most shows wait until the finale episode to unite the guy and girl.

Honestly, I wish the Pokemon show would end. At the same time, I would never want Ash to completely abandon character and get with a girl unless it were the series finale. Ash's character demand that he be a clueless moron. Much tension and excitement results from all the other girls crushing on him...but let's face it, if he ever did get with any of them, what would we have to look forward to next?

Pokemon is a kodomo Seinfeld. "No hugging, no learning."

It's the way it has to be.

Ew, any Ash romance would totally ruin Pokemon. :/
I find him and all three of those ships totally obnoxious, and would find them even more so if they were canon.

But in the end what it comes down to is this:
Think about the target audience of the Pokemon dub. Despite the fact that it is watched by many other demographics, it is mainly aimed at young boys. Do young boys want to watch romance?

... Yeah. I thought so.
Simple as that.

Indeed, a little hint here and there keeps the show more interesting than making Ash choose already, during the current series. But I also hope that in the end my fav. pairing will be sealed.

Alright, really, did you even read the first post here? -_-

Personally, I think the only reason most of these shippings even exist is because of 4kids deciding on the stupid overused subject of "If a boy meets a girl, they have to fall in love. They can't be friends at all. They must love one another." So they went straight for Poke.

Because they started by trying to make Poke canon(Seriously, in the jap. version, at least they evened out all the pairings instead of trying to make one canon) then that lead to Advance when Misty left, and because of a similar pattern, Pearl was made, even though Cartoon Network had it by then.

4Kids is responsible for all of this.

And for the record, not all people in animes have to hook up with someone. Ever seen Lucky Star?

Also, Luna Tiger, even though I don't support it, that is one hundred percent true. Almost NOTHING has anything on Boulder ^-^

POKESHIPPING SHOULD BE OFFICIAL COUPLE

*is shot multiple times*

Anyway....

If romance is added, I think it can be resolved at the end of the Anime....(If it ever ends...)

I think no ships should be made canon during the show's run, but more of at the end. Or left open but highly implied. :)

I think if they decided on one Ash ship, the world would rage. o.o;

If they tossed in any pairings for Satoshi/Ash now, I feel it would be a big mistake as it would, imo, ruin the show, especially since the show isn't about romance. If they toss it in at the very very end of the series, then it won't be so bad and shut some of us up. lol

Really. I just think of Ash as unshippable. I just can't picture him in a relationship anymore. xD
But I would love to have some closure at the end of the show's run.
It's more fun to be kept guessing and coming up with your own theories for now, I think.

I bet this is the closest I'll ever get to you answering my question.

I think if Misty kisses Ash's cheek that won't be going too far, Ash has already been kissed twice and nothing came of it even though their one shot characters, Misty has become a less important character and it will be a one time thing.

Ash can't end the show in an official relationship, realistically.

However, he can end the show with a tendancy towards someone, which could imply one ship but not make it canon.

This is what I hope for.

*shrug* there's a reason I try not to get too into shipping wars and stuff, because for all the fighting and debating it causes, it really doesn't matter in the end. Either one faction wins or no one wins, and the end result is more people unhappy than happy.

My view is to just find good points in each possible relationship. You can have your favorites but don't hate on what's not your favorite.

Ash is likely to not "end up" with someone by the time the Pokemon anime comes to a close (whenever that may be) considering he's probably THE most oblivious character in terms of things like romance.... because he's not very interested. I agree that the most likely thing is for him to have someone in the end that he's more inclined to.... but he's still not totally with.
