Hello folks! New to the forums, but played Pokémon games for a very long time.
Started off with Red, then Blue, then Yellow, played (but never completed) Gold, completed Ruby (but it got erased) and I then did Sapphire.
Recently started Platinum. I got it a week ago off ebay for £7.99 (a bargain, I thought at the time). When it arrived it looked genuine.
After 70 hours of gameplay however (and a very bulging Pokédex) I decided to go to the Global Trade Station before getting my 8th badge and ploughing onto the PokeLeague. Logging onto the WiFi, it got to the 'Checking GTS Status' screen.
...Then it crashed.
And then, thinking it would roll back onto the last save I made, I got this instead: 'The save file has been erased due to corruption or damage'. Well ffffffffffffff-
A little research on the internet, and I realized I purchased a bootleg copy, as seen here.
So I came onto BulbaForums to browse around for similar problems, and read that Veggietable also very recently crashed and lost his Platinum under similar circumstances.
I'm not deterred, although losing 70 hours worth of gameplay hurts harder than getting smoked by Gary Oak. I'm going to try for HG/SS instead, and yeah. Joining the Pokemunnity ;-)
(Oh, and thanks to Rappak for the earlier Dragon Scale trade. Shame my Kingdra is dead now
