Well, I'm currently battling (well, trying to catch) Regice right now, and I noticed something:

Even when the Pokemon is legendary and you can see it, it still says 'Wild ____ appeared!' when you start to battle.

I just noticed that, and I'm not asking for an explanation (the Nintendo people probably just got lazy and didn't change it xD, I'm just sayin', it's kinda weird. Hmm.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place (I don't think so o_0) or if it shouldn't be here at all. I just joined, so I'm fairly n00bish :3

Well, for Giratina in Platinum, it's different. It'll say 'The Distortion World's GIRATINA appeared!' and it drops out of the sky and it has no shadow. So far, Giratina is the only one to do this.

It is something that more attentive writers would notice, but whatever. Hopefully the Giratina thing sets a precedent.

I for one would like it to scream "ARE YOU READY FOR THE THUNDEEEEEERRRRRRRR?!" when you challenge Mewtwo.

Hell yes! XD I'd like to see that. Or when a Seaking appears:
"Fuck yeah, a wild SEAKING appeared!"

When you Fish whit your Old Rod (I don't make you think naughty thought them by yourself) "Holy, shit, a madderfuking MAKIKARP appeared! Run, run!

i liked how when you met Jirachi in the pokepark (or was it pal?) it says something along "Jirachi's the wish maker appeard" quite clever since the owner name nintendo used was "the wish maker"

^Win.

Anyway I don't think is weird, I mean, even if they're legendary, they're still wild...

I think for legendaries it should be like "(legendary pokemon) appeared!" Instead of wild. There's only one. Duh, nintendo.

It is a wild Pokemon. And also, most legendaries aren't the only one of their species at the time.

Obviously not, since your trainer partner at the Battle Tower can have a Regi, a Legendary Beast/Birds, Lati@s, or Cresselia. So I don't think it's too far fetched to have a "Wild Regi" appear.

"Fuck yeah, a wild SEAKING appeared!"

"Is that a fucking mew?!"

^ These.

It'd be entertaining if it did mix up the sayings. When you're fishing, the Pokemon doesn't just appear; you are fishing for it.

Some possibilities:

"Goddammit, another Zubat appeared."
"Don't get too excited; it's just another Magikarp."
"You were looking for a Pikachu? That's cool. Metapod attacks!"
"A wild Rattata attacks! Why don't you just go buy a repel?"

These are great.

It does seem a little unfair that legendaries get the same message as Bidoof. I mean, in the Pokémon world, these guys are like gods, and it does kinda make the climax of DP, for example, seem a little lame:

A god of time/space stands before you and you're about to battle it with your fire-monkey to cram it into the little ball in your hand. Cue dramatic legendary music.
"Wild DIALGA appeared." *retarded cry* -_-

if im not mistaken the anime displays them as being able to breed, remember the lugia egg in master quest?

yet in the game there one of a kind....i think.

I think the only legendary that is absolutely confirmed as being unique is Mewtwo, and even it might have found some way of breeding after having been created. All of Johto's legendaries were cloned in one of the GCN games, and the god-like pokemon in gen 4, being gods, are probably more than capable of making copies of themselves to suit their purposes.

In the old games, if you fished or Headbutted for something, it'd say "The hooked MAGIKARP attacked!" and "PINECO fell out of the tree!" They ought to bring those back. Heck, in HGSS, Pokemon you encounter by Headbutt should come onscreen from the top, like Giratina in Platinum.

And don't forget in D/P, "Woah! A wild STARLY came charging!", at the beginning of the game? When you picked your starter?

Anyway...

Regular wild Pokemon: "A wild KOFFING appeared!"

Legendary: "The Whirl Islands' LUGIA appeared!"

Roamer: "Woah! The legendary ENTEI appeared!"

Fished up: "The hooked QWILFISH attacked!"

Headbutted: "A wild EXEGGCUTE fell out of the tree!"

Safari Zone: "Hey! A wild EKANS drew near!"

By Surfing: "Woah! A wild SEAKING emerged from the depths!"

Rock Smash: "A wild GEODUDE was under the rock!"

Red Gyarados: "The Lake of Rage's red Gyarados attacked!"

Snorlax: "The wild SNORLAX attacked in a grumpy rage!"

Sweet Scent/Honey'd: "Look at that! A wild SENTRET was lured by the aroma!"

Shiny: "...Woah! Is that thing shiny?!"*would follow normal wild___appeared message*
