I have a question.. Why does everyone hate Jynx? o_O; Well not everyone.. but MOST people.. Like come ON! read this!

And go down to Jynx. Seriously, Jynx was NOT racial! It was black, doesn't mean it's racial. X_x And HOW can people think It's ugly?? It doesn't look one but ugly at all! Does anyone here like Jynx? Or hate it? Tell me why.. cause I wanna know..:-(
 
Some lady wrote a letter about it and Nintendo of America banned it. Hopefully, purple Jynx won't be as offensive. (It's going to appear in an episode that 4Kids can't ignore.)

Jynx was complained about because it emulates an oooolld stereotype of a Black Woman with huge red lips and massive breasts.

Basically, it was offensive to Politically Correct Obessives in the US so Nintendo of America had to bow to pressure and get Jynx recoloured to purple. Any instance where Jynx appears in the anime and is not the new purple - it's gone, either in a cut or the ep being dropped. I believe the ep that did feature Jynx in Indigo and was delayed because of the case was edited to make Jynx purple - although it's been so long since I saw it, I cant really remember.

There is a contest ep coming up, however, where Jynx is a lead Pokemon - and is purple - so will be appearing unquestionably.
 
The delay was actually due to the delay over the seizure incident and the want to show the episode at Christmas. The letter was written a month after the Indigo episode aired.
 
Yeah.. I know Jynx Is gonig to appear in the Pacifidlog Contest episodes. Which I can't wait to see. XD But still... I still think it's seems wrong to almost ban a Pokemon because of it's looks.. or Porygon and Porygon2 for just one episode..
 
Porygon does makes sense as the whole seizure incident was a major problem, (unlike the political correctness seen here.) Though a new appearance shouldn't really be a problem - the Mossdeep space Center would have been a great place to show Porygon2. The thing is, if it looks racist then the easiest way to avoid trouble is simply to ban it - and we see the purple one now, so the ban will probably be lifted.
 
Porygon/Porygon 2 is a weird one. There's really no reason why neither shouldn't reappear in the anime as Porygon was never the reason for the seizures in the first place. Pikachu just happened to choose its ep to go all strobey on us.

Considering neither have even appeared in the background since - I think it's possible they'll never show up. Mind you, Togetic (I believe) never appeared once, even as a background Pokemon to give way for Togepi's eventual evolution so if Porygon and it's evolution do appear it'll probably be something planned from waaay back.

And more to the point, will probably be made a huuuuuuuge deal of. Possibly even in the mainstream media again.
 
Errr.. togetic HAS made any appearance. o_O Misty's evolved in the episode: The Togepi Mirage.I HAVE seen quite a few Smoochum episodes.. but I guess Smoochum WOULD looke strange as black.. o.o

I think Jynx is very beautiful. ^^ Black Jynx... not this ugly purple thing.

I saw the new AB promo this morning and Jynx was shown in it. Which means the Pacifidlog eps are free. And if that person wants to whine about it again, she better have a death wish.
 
I don't see why she would. She may not even be aware of it since Pokémon does not have the popularity it used to have.

And you may want to edit your sig. ^^
 
I very seriously doubt that CBW has been keeping up with the Pokemon franchise for the past eight years. She probably isn't even aware that the character is now purple.

Still, someone else could just as easily tune in and find a black Jynx offensive, so it'll be purple from now until the end of time.
 
Just out of interest, does America get the music video of "Together Forever" with the scene of Jynx in it?
 
We did, back in the day, but it's been so long since any network's played those videos that it's impossible to say if those have been "banned" or not.
 
Well, I also noticed they had a "Who's That Pokemon" segment back in the 4th season (I think) and it was Porygon. And it even had a voice, which was a pretty good one too.
 
*doesnt remember* Ah well. XD Yeah, they played Together Forever, and it had Jynx in it.
