I know this might sound crazy, but ever since Genesect was revealed a while ago, I haven't liked it at all. I'm not even one of those biased to Gen 1 freaks.
I feel like Genesect is a cheap design no? Like the altered Fossilized Pokémon it once came from was ACTUALLY a Kabutops? Literally, it shares so many resemblances... My boyfriend and a lot of people I have spoken to share these thoughts.

I'm curious to know what you guys think? Or what you think the creators had in mind when creating Genesect?

From what I've read, Genesect is based on some sort of prehistoric insect, whereas Kabutops is based on a trilobite or a horseshoe crab. So, I don't think they're related.

They have no noticeable similarities that scream "They're related!" to me, if I'm perfectly honest. Their abdomens and thoraxes look nothing alike, their heads have different shapes. The only things that look remotely similar are their arms and legs, and even they have some noticeable differences.

I still don't see it. Just because their Pokedex entries have the same time period mentioned, doesn't mean they're the same. Also, there's no mention anywhere that Genesect has any sort of relationship with water, unlike Kabutops.

Edited.
Edited again.

I understand what you're saying, I'm just pointing out the similarities, in all, I think Genesect is a very weak design, that's why.

I definitely would like to see what Genesect looked like before it was modified by Plasma. Perhaps we will find this out in Gen VI.

Genesect does nothing for me despite being a bug fan, anyway the app on my phone calls it an "ancient bug" kabutops is not a bug pokemon it may look a bit like one but its not one, so i dont see any relation between them.

In terms of apprance i still dont see the relation kabutops has a tail a larger head and scyths for arms genesect has none of this.
