There are a lot of Kanto Nostalgia, reference, and clue in SM, with Red and Blue return in SM for the Battle Tree, Professor Kukui have travel to Kanto to challenge the Indigo League, Lillie traveling to Kanto to find Lusamine her cure from Nihelago's poison and become better trainer, not to mention Kanto pokemon have Alolan forms. In USUM, the only thing we have right now is ryuki is an building that looks like the Vermillion City gym. Now here's the kicker, even though it probably won't relate to USUM, but today an anime special that come out on 14th and 21st ash will be traveling back to Kanto for a school project for a couple of episode, but he encounter his long time companion Misty and Brock. The fans be speculating on going to Kanto in USUM, since there are a lot of kanto reference in Alola, especially ohmori is interested into doing Lillie's story (since she traveled to Kanto). So are we going to see Kanto in USUM in the post-game or will they hold it off for Kanto/Johto Sequel?

EDIT: Since this disprove my Kalos post-game Are we going to see Kalos in the Post-game? I would like to discuss about Kanto, since everybody going nutty about it.

Gonna be honest, I'm so sick to the back teeth of glorious Kanto right now. It holds no nostalgic value for me despite my age group.

More to the topic at hand... What they're doing in the anime is just a little nod for its 20th anniversary year, I really doubt that it'll have any bearing on USUM. That 20th anniversary for the games was last year, it has been and gone, there's no reason for Kanto in the new pair unless it's to knowingly bait everyone's nostalgia (which I find pathetic).

No, absolutely not. Even if Game Freak could pull all of this off in one region, which past history and Game Freak's current development habits say they can't, do you really expect them to be able to do that in one year? Remaking Kanto, especially remaking it with the modern overhaul it deserves, is going to take longer than that. I don't think we should be expecting anything region design wise more than the modest smattering of extra areas and changes we see on the map. Any kind of second region is flat out unrealistic, let it go please.

This is assuming that they've only been working on Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon for one year. They also could have been working on Kanto for SuMo post-game. It isn't an unrealistic as you think.

Given what's happening in the animé, I wouldn't be surprised if Kanto was in the post-game of Ultra Sun/Utra Moon.

Treating the anime as the secret decrypter codex to the games isn't really a reliable practice, as the XY&Z arc surely demonstrated.

Kanto will most likely not be featured in USUM, but they're also not going to be making another Kanto game any time soon. Just because Kanto isn't going to appear now doesn't mean it is being "saved" for anything in particular.

Okay, I've just added another poll "They won't do anything for Kanto" option. I hope will put Kanto thing to bed after all of this.

I'm currently leaning towards Kanto in USM or No Kanto.

Kanto sequels would make sense for the 25th Anniversary, but we're not discussing that far into the future.
If there is Kanto in USM, then I think we won't see Kanto for atleast 2 generations (hopefully).

I still think adding Kanto to USUM is unlikely but recent events have seen the likelihood increase imo.

If before I thought there was a 10% chance I'd now rate that chance at about 35%

The hype for Kanto is now. They won't have a better time for a Kanto sequel for next year. Johto hype is also being increased with Gold and Silver for the VC next month.

At the same time, I think it's going to happen and and it's not happening. Kinda tired of Kanto this and Kanto that, and if they are really reading any kind of forums that discusses Pokémon, they'd see that all the Kanto Nostalgia is wearing off pretty quickly. In fact, it already did.

That said, however, IF they were to put the whole region on the post game for our visiting and battling purposes, I would still shriek, because I'm a gen 2 sucker and I love me some dual region games.

Don't see it happening, TBH~ The way it works is that the games will do something and then the Anime does it because the Anime is based on the games, not vice versa. Ash going to Kanto in the Anime means nothing for the games~ It's most likely just to tie in with the latest movie but nothing more.

I'm leaning towards no Kanto too. I'm actually leaning on locations based off of Kanto from that Vermilion Gym-ish place in that Ryuki screenshot, but not the region itself; the franchise has been using Kanto as a way to boost interest and sales a lot in the games recently and I'd be disappointed if it appeared.

The anime has shown Ash visiting / revisiting Kanto through various intervals even for a small break throughout Pokemon History. Until we get more information we really cannot assume this means anything as it hasn't in the past.

My brain wants to tell me yes, that they are doing so. With the scene from the trailer with Ryuki n a place that looks very much like Vermillion gym, and all this recent Kanto hype with the anime, with Brock and Misty returning for a couple episodes, it really makes you want to believe it. But I am just not sure. I mean remember how much Gen 4 easter eggs we got in SM, and in the recent movie, and then they announced USUM would be the next game? They have proven that they can very easily fool some of us.

So I am a little hesitant about it being true, that Kanto will be there. If it is, sweet! It will be really cool, and add a lot of Post-game playability (also please let Johto be accessible if this is the case.) Kanto hasn't seen much love since FRGL came out (not counting Virtual Console), and I personally think the better move for GF to make would be featuring it as a Post-game for another game. There are quite a few people who would like to see the Kanto games get a sequel (or a second remake), but there are also a lot of people who don't. So having it as a post-game will make it a lot better, since it will get some focus, and we can see it in this new style, and get some of those nostalgia ratings, without turning down the fans who don't really want a another whole game focused on Kanto.

HGSS was Kanto's last appearance. Kanto also got eater eggs and locations added to the newer games (Santalune forest is rip-off Viridian forest, Nugget Bridge in Sun and Moon, and Cerulean cave rip off in XY)

AND if we're talking about Kanto Pokemon representation then they've got so much love that it's to the point of sickening.
Megas were predominantly Kanto till ORAS. All Alolan forms are Kanto. Most exclusive Z-Moves are Kanto Pokemon's.

HGSS didn't do Kanto much justice though. It was very watered down.

The Pokémon may have gotten many updates, but the region itself has not ever. That's the part that I am sure most people wanted to see again.
