Is called Tropical Depression Eighteen.

The NHC prediction calls it Tropical Storm Rita by tomorrow, and Hurricane Rita by tuesday.

By which point they call it passing over the Keys westward into the Gulf. And it's growing fast; it's a tropical depression and they're already issuing hurricane watches about it (not tropical storm watches. Hurricane watches).

Is it just me, or does the weather seem to be getting worse every year?

Perhaps it's getting worse, or perhaps we simply don't remember how bad it was... the Good Old Days syndrome, maybe...

Don't we have a thread for this booga stuff, D?

We have a generic hurricane thread. Thjis is about the most-likely-soon-to-be Hurricane Rita :p

It's hard to discuss specific storms and hurricanes in the other thread.

 whatever. i guess you'll start a new thread every time another booga storm is named.

It's not getting worse. It's getting normaler, if that's even a word. The evidence suggests that the "dry spell" is drawing to a close.

No, just when one looks like it could be a pretty nasty hit. I'm not planning a thread for Philippe until it's known whether or not it will get close to land, for example, and I never posted an Ophelia thread.

What's so wrong with that?

There is a hurricane thread. Making a thread for each individual hurricane seems silly, unless you want a hurricane sub-forum.

There's a thread on watching the situation as a whole. If a seemingly important storm develop, I'll make a new thread for the specific issue. I fail to see what's wrong with that. I am NOT making a new thread about everyone - there were no threads for Lee, or Maria, or Nate, or even Ophelia, and Philippe doesn't have one yet (either). THIS gets one, because it looks more serious than most.

How about you make some interesting threads instead of wasting everyone's time complaining about what do get posted?

:sigh: You don't have to reply to my posts. I *am* allowed to think it's a dumb idea and post as such.

Yeah, and I'm allowed to think YOUR post is a dumb idea and post as such.

So, when ARE we getting married? ;)

In other news, Eighteen is now OFFICIALY Rita.

However, as I'll be calling in sick, my replacement will have to fill in.

Guess who's my replacement according to the BMG scheme of authority? :p

Thread derailment is fun. Erm, I mean... SHOUNEN-AI!

As long as it's not me, the identity of the replacement is irrelevant. :D

Is this party BYOB? And, um yeah....hurricanes. Can this be a hurricane/engagement party?
