Kelleo's Pokemon TGC Pokedex

So, when I was a kid, my stepbrothers and I loved Pokemon and Pokemon cards. We played the trading card game sometimes too, but we mainly just liked collecting the cards and displaying them in binders and card sleeves. However, compared to those of my stepbrothers, my collection was, well, subpar. I hoped one day that my collection would become as good as theirs, but it never did, and we eventually grew out of the cards. To this day, I still don't remember what I did with that old collection I had.

But I was forever envious and a bit jealous of my stepbrothers for always having awesome cards like holo Charizard, Blastoise, Mewtwo, Nidoking, even holo legendary birds. My best card? A holo Scyther (which I ended up trading to one of my stepbrothers anyway. I still regret that to this day). Maybe a Machamp as well, but I'm not sure. Anyway, my stepbrothers had way more good cards.

Then, during my early high school years, I noticed a bunch of kids on the bus were showing off their Pokemon cards to one another and trading them and such (the school I went to at the time was right next to the middle and elementary schools, so everybody shared buses. It was an international school too). It reminded me of when I was a kid collecting them. After seeing these kids so often, I decided I wanted to start collecting again myself. And I did. I got some starter decks and put them in a binder.

However, it wasn't until sometime after getting lots more cards that I decided to start a big project with them: the Pokemon Trading Card Game Pokedex! I'm crafting a card encyclopedia of every Pokemon by placing my cards in Pokedex order in my binders (I have two because there wasn't enough room for gen 5 Pokemon in the first binder. In fact, I'd like to get a bigger binder for those first four gens anyway lol). It'd be the greatest Pokemon card collection ever. I'm not saying MY collection in particular would be the greatest, but that a card collection version of the Pokedex would be the greatest. Anyway, in this thread, I shall share my progress and post updates for whenever I obtain a card of a Pokemon that I did not yet have.

Special Pokemon, such as those belonging to gym leaders or those that are dark (like Dark Dragonite or Dark Tyranitar, for instance. I actually have the former, btw), won't count, but if I have room in the sleeve where I keep the specific Pokemon, I'll stick 'em in there. The normal Pokemon will just be on top. I got a whole crapload of Pokemon cards from my stepbrother for Christmas this year, so I've made a lot of progress so far. Here's the current status of the TGC Pokedex. Pokemon whose names are in blue are the ones that I have.

Incomplete, yet to be fully analyzed. I don't have many of these yet, though, but mainly because they only recently started getting made.

I shall continue analyzing as soon as possible. :] I will also take photos to prove that I have what I claim to have. When I can, of course. xP

i was thinking about doing that but just a 4 and 5.and all my other cards in later seasons would be counted as 4 like soul silver the game

Ah, I see. Interesting.

I forgot to mention one more thing about the special Pokemon cards not counting. They WILL be counted if they are the only cards I have of the specific Pokemon. Like right now, the only Exeggutor card I have is Erika's Exeggutor, so that will have to be used in place of a normal one for now. This is the only exception I'll be making for special Pokemon cards, though.

I would also prefer to use English cards, but again, if a Japanese one is the only card I have of a Pokemon, I'll use it. The only Clefable card I have is Japanese, so yeah. No choice there again. xP

I buy them at Walmart, Target, places like that. I also bought a Crobat card at a card and comics store once as well. And no, I graduated high school a couple years ago. I will be starting college soon though. But I kinda doubt many, if any, other college students play Pokemon. xP

I don't mind telling people I do, though.

Anyway, I've finished analyzing my gen 2 Pokemon cards. As you can see, I have most of them now, all but ten. It'll take me awhile to do the other gens, though, because I noticed I forgot to leave a place for Celebi. I'm gonna need to fix that, so yeah. >_<

I even have a lot of the old cards thanks to my stepbrother, including TWO first edition holo Charizards, a first edition holo Blastoise, an Ancient Mew, and a movie Mewtwo. ;D

I've analyzed gens 1-4, but since I have not yet finished putting all of my gen 5 cards in card sleeves, it'll be awhile before I analyze them. This is because I don't have many gen 5 Pokemon beyond Klinklang, so I've neglected to leave a bunch of empty spaces. I'm waiting to get some more cards first.

True. Guess I have to give this up, then. I thought I was doing something no one attempted before, but I guess not if a bunch of people have done it. Oh well. It wasn't my biggest project anyway.

Why give up if you're not the first? You could very well be the first to complete one all the way up to Black & White.

It doesn't matter. I was thinking no one had completed a TGC National Pokedex during any generation. I didn't think anyone would take the time to do such a thing since just about everyone I see with Pokemon cards is an elementary school age kid.

And besides that, if all you need is Gothitelle, then no way would I be the first to get 649 Pokemon. That would be you. xP

It's an idea many people who haven't collected collectible cards before get when collecting Pokemon. The fact that they were collectible in game made most people want to collect one of each Pokemon instead of one of each card.
