Shanghai Daily is reporting that a 14-year-old from Yibin in Sichuan, China has been drinking Gasoline for the last five years to become a “valiant fighter” like Optimus Prime. The youngster first saw the animated Transformers tv series when he was nine years old, and was so impressed that be “that he began drinking fuel on a daily basis to “obtain energy” and become a mighty warrior like the Transformers.”

The kids parents scolded the kid after he started smelling the gas in cigarette lighters, and later began to notice that the gasoline in their motorcycle had begin disappearing. They caught the kid in the act and locked the motorcycle away, but the boy started stealing gasoline from unsuspecting neighbors. After the parents learned that their child was drinking two or three bottles a day, they decided to take him to a hospital. The doctor explained to the boy that he would not gain supernatural strength, but instead now has mental disorders from the lead and a strong “gasoline dependence.”
“Since my son start to drink gas, his intelligence quotient dropped sharply and he couldn’t figure out addition and subtraction of sums within 100,” the father said. “Before that, he was a very smart boy, and he could even repair the television. But now he doesn’t know the answer of 7 plus 17.”

ok WTF is wrong with people.. this is the worst that can happen ugh..

Well ... it's nice to know what kind of wonderful influence the United States has in the world. Why spread democracy and morals when we can spread Darwin Award wannabes?

That's really sad and horrible....At least the parents actually tried to stop this.

I really don't understand why that kid would waste his future just to be a robot.

I don't understand how the kid could get away with it unnoticed for 5 years! They didn't notice that the gas in the motorcycle had been slowly missing for that long? Or wonder where their son went every so often? I know kids are sneaky and all, but it's not *that* hard to catch a 9 year old in the act.

Dang that's quite something. @~@

I still remember watching the old Transformers (Megatron = Gun) and it didn't give me such ideas...

That's a scary story. How could anyone do that?
Surely he must have got really sick drinking all that oil.

I'm definitely not an expert on gasoline drinking but... wouldn't it taste really bad? I don't see how he could drink it. I always figured it wouldn't taste that good.

ok thats just wrong on so many levels. if the kid was sopposed the be as smart as his parents say, then he should have had enough common sense to know not to drink it.

Okay, I may have heard jokes about drinking bleach, but this one takes the cake. I know that everyone tries hard to take after the popular ones, but this borders on extraterrestrial. I still can't believe they didn't notice until the fifth year. But as for common sense, I think we all know that common sense is second fiddle only to addiction.

Wow...
This is tragedy and idiocy at it's finest.

Gotta admit, I first laughed at the title, but then I read the story. Poor kid. :/

WTF?

Poor kid. How can his parents not know?

Is it possible for him to recover?

Is it possible for him to recover?
Apparently not:

"Damage from lead poisoning, especially to the central nervous system, is often incurable and may not improve with treatment."

"'We hoped to demonstrate that the effects of early exposure to lead could be minimized or eliminated by administration of this drug,' says Kim Dietrich, PhD, a professor in the Department of Environmental Health. 'Instead, the study showed that neurological damage from lead poisoning is irreversible.'"

I will confirm that gasoline does taste terrible.

Yes, of course it is the fault of the United States that a kid in China drank gasoline. Seriously dude?

... Oh my God! That's horrendous :-(

Wow, what a moron.

I mean, honestly, even at nine years old you should be able to make the connection that transformers = robots, thus gasoline gives them energy, and you, not being a robot, shouldn't be a moron like that.

Wow. He must have had really terrible gas.

ROFL! I almost choked on my drink when I read this.

On a serious note tho, sad for the kid, but I mean...come on. At nine years old you should know better.
