IS HE GAY?!?1?11!

...because we're sick of this being discussed in the Rocketshipping thread. If you've got something to say, say it here.

So... I don't think he's gay ;-)

When it comes to shipping and Pokemon (well, in general, an anime), has sexual orientation ever mattered?

Me neither. Hopefully some people will leave us alone now.

There's no reason for this to be its own thread. I really don't get why you guys can't handle his opinion.

Crossdressing doesn't make you gay, and that's the only thing there is originally that would make someone think he was.

That's not the problem. It is just really annoying that we can't even have light discussion without this guy bringing his spiel about him being gay into it. And I can't ignore it because I disagree, but it's just dumb that the Rocketshipping thread has to be cluttered with discussion of his sexual orientation.

It's an issue of its own (IMO) and I think it deserves fair discussion without everyone getting pissed off. I'm happy to justify my opinions on it and fight it out but I'd rather do it elsewhere. If mods disagree, feel free to scrap this, but I really feel that whether or not Kojiro is gay should be debated somewhere else.

It's just a children anime why make such a big deal about James, or Ash or anyone for that matter gay? (whatever that means)

This topic makes me feel like I'm back in 2000 again, back when the show was still new and Eric Stuart started taking "creative liberties" with James voice.

This really takes me back. Good times.

And, honestly, I'd say he's likely straight.

I think the best place to "debate" this is not in the 'shipping section. Sexual orientation pretains more to character than to romance itself, and thusly belong more to the anime section. I am wary to move this, however, because it's a matter of flamebait and headache material to bring back the dead and battered horse.

Recreate the thread at your own discretion. Or ask a mod there if you think it's wise.

Also, if you had a problem with Eryk, you /should/ have reported him. The fact no one did kind of makes me suspect someone was looking forward to the fight, and not necessarily him. *closes*

Reopening and moving to anime section.

But be warned! This thread will be for actual discussion--NOT for shipping theories (since it's leaving the shipping section), not for bigotry (there is no place on the site for any of that bull), and not for any lameo statements like "but it's a kids show" (because we know that doesn't so much matter).

Also, since people can't seem to discuss sexuality on this site without it degenerating, this thread probably has a life span of about two more days. But I figure we may be able to get some diamonds sifted out of the impending crap in that time.

Personally, I don't think he really has an orientation. Not any more, anyway. He used to, but Jessibelle terrified it out of him and he's only just started to get used to the thought of friendly affection ("only just" meaning "since the show started" since time flows strangely for them).

--ok what. Why can't I move or reopen this thread? I'm a shipping mod, right?

While this thread is here, I'll just say that it's sometimes fun to joke about James this way, but I don't think he's actually gay.

I consider him a metrosexual and a sensitive guy. Kinda like Alan from Two and a Half Men.

Carnivore no matter what people say I am note fruit! But you are a fruitcake ;)

According to the wikipedia entry on Kinsey's Scale, "Today, many sexologists see the Kinsey scale as simplistic. They suggest that sexual orientation and sexual identity are more complex and varied." So yes a human being or any living creature for that matter can both hetero and homo at the same time.

But I believe we can safely say that James is definitely not into bestiality as can be seen in A Bitter Pill to Swallow.

I'm not sure whether Eric Stuart did alot of "creative liberties" though, since I haven't watched a large part of Jhoto or AG. Non of the VAs struck me as actively trying to portray James/Kojiro as gay.

There is no (and will never be) canonically homosexual character in Pokemon. It's a kids show, avoiding any kind of controversy (especially political ones). There might be some gay-acting ones but there will never ever be any explicitly stated homosexual character.

Homosexual Pokemon characters exist only in ships.

... Except when it comes to anime that hasn't been censored all the way you can find such characters. At least I find shows like Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon pretty much "kids show"(though older people enjoy it too) and they have both gay and lesbian characters. But, some countries make their own little changes like turning a male character into a female. ;)

Anyways, I don't see Pokemon characters being sexually oriented in any way since most of them are just little kids and it's not necessary for them to think about such things. Of course there is Brock, but e.g. Ash is a great example of a character who is just a kid who likes Pokemon. I don't find it necessary to think about their sexuality, I kind of like the idea they don't have any kind of sexual orientation in that universe.

About James: I think he is some kind of fanservice for the female watchers(although it's a kids show) and that's why he's acting the way he is, not because he's ~gay~. That type isn't so rare in anime and he is so different in the Japanese and US versions anyways.

Jessie does dress in men's clothes sometimes, too. The first episode with Suzie in it, I noticed that James was wearing a dress, and Jessie was wearing, something like a guy's riding habit, or something. Oh, wait it was more like a uniform?o_O

James just dresses up sometimes. After all, in the St.Anne one, he had to, to convince the twerps that he and Jessie had to go out with their boyfriends.

James is NOT gay. He's just metro. That's it.

Also Bishonen does NOT mean gay.

BTW for people saying "OMG ITZ JUST A KIDZ SHOW U GUISE!!121!" stop. We know that already and we don't want to be reminded 200000000000 times.

That's right, but he loves brock in ep020 for a few seconds.
