Who are Morton, Lemmy, and Larry named after? I know Ludwig=Ludwig Van Beethoven, Wendy=Wendy O. Williams, Roy=Roy Orbison, and Iggy=Iggy Pop, but what about the other three?

Also, what are their Japanese names? Is it true they were named after Nintendo office workers?

And...um...how would one go about making a KK-like shell? I want to cosplay as Wendy, but I can't think of how to build her shell so that I could wear it.

Well... apparently according to one site, the Japanese SMB3 (and I guess SMW as well) completely omits giving them names.

Morton Koopa = Morton Downey Jr. famous country singer and had his own talk show

Lemmy Koopa = Lemmy Kilmeister from Motorhead, a metal group

Larry Koopa = Larry King who has his own talk-show.

From that same site, it says that Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that the Koopa Kids' appearances were modeled after the game's programmers as a tribute to their hard work.

I have no idea on the cosplay thing though.

Answers were from this site: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0249174/trivia

Larry I belive is Larry King. Morton is Morton Downey Junior. Lemmy was a member of Metalheads.

I think their Japanese name are the same, err, right?

Why would Larry be named after a talk show host when all the rest are named after musicians?

Also...um...who's their mother? I think the closest we've come to getting an answer to that was in the movie with Queen Lena, but she's not game canon.

Larry and Morton are named after Talk Show Hosts actually.

If they don't have names in the Japanese games, then what were their names in the anime?

The Koopalings' names are the same in Japanese. From SMW onwards, anyway. No idea about SMB3.

...I have never heard that before. What site are you talking about?

*is so glad nobody's asked stupid questions about Bowser Jr. like is he's actually Morton* <3 Junior's awesome, y'all.

The mother of the Koopalings is Petey Piranha.

I think she's talking about the Mario-themed retellings of fairy tales that were made for video.

EDIT: link'd

And I don't think they were in the Blue-suit Luigi Mario anime either....

Hmm. Argy, do you mean the SMB3 and SMW series made by Dic? I don't think they were ever released in Japan.

Although they didn't even have the right names in that show for whatever reason.

Probably since the show was so cheap, they couldn't liscense the names.

Oh, my bad, I didn't know the cartoon was American-made.

Lemmy got his name from Motorhead's lead...? Neat. Fascinating stuff, guys...

In their one named Japanese appearence (Mario and Luigi Superstar), the Koopa Kids were given their US names, since they had no Japanese ones, even in the Japanese version.
