Well, I figured that since I inspired a Goddamn subforum, I might as well post something in it. It's Monday where I'm from so that means that it's technically been a week since I posted my last VS thread.

Anyway, I just wanted to post this before I go on vacation and don't have access to the internet.

So, what I really wanted to do was a Lugia vs Ho-Oh thread because those are probably my two favorite legendaries, but I was beaten to the punch. So here's the next best thing:

This battle really needs no explanation. Kyogre is the legendary Pokemon that created the oceans, Groudon the one that created the lands. Groudon is more physically inclined, Kyogre is more specially inclined. Kyogre summons perma rain, Groudon summons perma sun. Yada, yada, yada, mascots of Ruby and Sapphire, blah blah blah, in-universe counterparts, etcetera.

So, which one do you prefer?

Which one would win in a battle?

Which one is more useful?

I'm going with Kyogre here. Sapphire was my first Gen III game so I'm biased. Also, Water beats Ground so assuming that it manages to keep the sun away, Kyogre has the clear advantage in this fight.
 
I like Kyogre, sapphire was my first gen III game and I like the design better.

Wow, I didn't notice you caused a whole sub forum o_O
 
Oh wow I didn't notice either haha.

Kyogre for me, the mascot of my favourite Pokemon game... And it's one of my favourite legendaries.
 
Kyogre is the best hands down....

Now i kinda inspired this cause i stole your idea & then everyone copied me

Kyogre, if only because its ability and movepool synchronize much better with its stats than Groudon's does. I suppose I'm a bit biased, seeing as how Sapphire was my first 3rd Generation game. I still really like both, however.
 
Groudon looks cooler. But Kyogre is much better at battling though by no means is Groudon bad.

I'll go with Groudon because Ruby was my first Gen 3 game. Kyogre's Flood theme is awesome though.
 
Kyogre because it has the type advantage over Groudon (if it's slower than Groudon, it can use rain and STAB boosted Water attacks to take Groudon out).
 
I prefer Groudon for its looks. I like reptiles, especially extremely powerful legendary ones.

In a battle, Kyogre would win. It has a type advantage. All Groudon can do to stop it is SolarBeam, but Groudon is unfortunately more physically suited. However if you train it well enough, it all comes down to who's faster.

Overall, Kyogre again. Both have plenty of great moves, but Kyogre is suited to them better. Water Spout, Hydro pump and Thunder all benefit from its ability and its awesome stats. Groudon has Fire Blast, Eruption and SolarBeam, which do benefit from its ability, but its mediocre special stat can't give them that much potential. Its forced into using Earthquake and Hammer Arm, which are good moves but the former 3 are just a waste.
 
Kyogre, water-type, i love water types.Besides it has a type advantage and is better looking.
 
I prefer Kyogre, because in rainy weather, Water Spout can defeat any Pokémon that doesn't resist it strongly.

Actually it comes down to whos slower!
The faster pokemon gets it's weather first, but then the slower pokemon overrides it with it's own weather effect.

If groudon is slower, then it can maybe surive a sun-weakened water spout and hit back with solarbeam?

If kyogre is slower, it obviously survives anything groudon can throw at it and murder it with hydro pump
 
Kyogre. It's better looking and I've and guess I always will prefer water types over fire. And Water Spout is cool.

It depends on who comes out actually.
If Kyogre is sent out second then Kyogre wins because of Drizzle and water sprout.If Groudon is sent out second, its solarbeam is enough to finish off Kyogre with the help of Drought.But then again, its not a STAB so I guess Kyogre wins.

Sorry Groudon but U still rock!
 
I guess I have to agree with the OP, Sapphire was my first game, mainly because of Kyogre on the cover. Looks infinitely better than Groudon, is infinitely more useful, and is one of the few legendaries I actually use.
