Oh... wait... F***! I thought it was coming out on Friday and Saturday!
Maybe if I get the chance I'll watch it tomorrow... (I just don't like dubs over live action, it's the only kind of dub that weirds me out)

Yeah, I agree with you there. Dubs don't really work too well with live action. Also, it would have been better on a Friday and Saturday imo... I wonder why they decided to do it Wednesday and Thursday. There would be more people actually going if it were on a weekend I would think.

I can't make it sadly, I'll just get it on DVD at the Asian festival

I'm sure Viz doesn't really care, it's probably the movie theaters, I thought about it after and they always have it that way it seems. This week I can't blame them with movies like Wolverine coming out. But yeah, I don't think Viz cares because I think those things always sell out anyways.

Dubs don't really work too well with animation, either

Anyway...I can't say I was a fan of this movie. I caught a bit of it when it aired on Japanese TV a few months ago, and the whole "L running around trying to protect a group of children" just didn't sit right with me. I guess L really is a super uninteresting character if he doesn't have Light to match wits with.

It's cool that it's getting a (limited) theatrical release, though. American theaters need all the foreign movies they can get.

This movie actually has nothing to do with the death note does it?

I didn't watch the whole thing, but from what I could gather...nope.

I mean...it could be a good movie if you watch it from beginning to end, like you're supposed to. But since I didn't do that, I only have what I *did* see to go off of.

Truthfully, I know very little about the series, so I went into the movie just to watch and enjoy. I actually enjoyed it more than I expected. My sister, who is a Death Note watcher/reader liked it as well, but did have some issues with things that were not as they should be.

I am proud of my little sister though, she insisted on going to the subtitled version instead of the dub.

Was this even out in Canada? I didn't see any advertisement for it at all. I sort of like DeathNote from what I've watched but I can never get around to watching more than 7 episodes. I heard the movie is pretty good.
