Based off of a story idea I've been working on.

Plot: In a Pokemon World where Pokemon Trainers have been illegal for over 200 years and the use of Pokeballs banned, Pokemon have become a race of creatures with intelligence that rivals that of a human and have learned to live in tandem with them through an organized "sponsorship" system...a system in which a Pokemon is paired with a human for life, and said Pokemon must aid their sponsor in whatever career choice they have chosen. This works because many of today's technology is based around the human/Pokemon partnership, and for Pokemon, it allows them to legally be considered citizens of the region they live in by meeting the requirements that they must live in a man-made dwelling with a human and hold a job that, in some way, contributes to society.

Before a Pokemon can enter into the sponsorship system, however, it is mandatory that they attend a school that specializes in educating Pokemon in order to prepare them for any sort of sponsor that they will be paired with in the near future. A sister school for humans is usually located within walking distance nearby, where children around the same age can come over to observe the Pokemon students, and put in their requests for which one they would like to sponsor in the future (though in Kalos, where this RP takes place, sponsorship pairings are determined by a Pokemon's skill level and a human's career choice, with little to no input from either side). There is one such pair of academies per city, with varying student population sizes and quality of schooling. The school this RP will be focusing on is L'Academie de Lumiose, one of the biggest such educational complexes that is located in the heart of Lumiose City.

This is where you come in.

You can choose one of three paths. In the first one, you are a human student in your last year of schooling, only months away from graduation and therefore pairing with your Pokemon candidate. Perhaps you've had your eye on a certain Pokemon student for a while, or maybe you're either not sure or indifferent to which one you are paired with.

The second path has you take on the role of a Pokemon student in the same situation. How do you feel about leaving behind the friends you've made to live the rest of your life with a human? What is it like if you have a passion for a career path that you know you're not quite certain you are going to get? Are you at peace with the laws restricting Pokemon to human dependence?

The third path is the path of an Academy teacher or staff member. You may choose to work on the human or Pokemon side, and regardless of whether or not you choose to be a human or a Pokemon, you must still be paired with a human (for a Pokemon) or a Pokemon (for a human). You are to be the epitome of how the sponsor's bond works, as well as an influential component of preparing final-year students for the rest of their lives. How does the pressure of your job effect you? Was this what you had hoped you would be, back when you were in these student's shoes?

Extra Information:
- Pokemon can still learn moves, but are forbidden by law from using them. Certain abilities, such as Pokemon being able to cloak themselves or spin silk or move boulders, are permitted as long as it's not used in an offensive or defensive manner, which would classify it as a move and warrant arrest and jail time.
- Pokemon families, unlike humans, are usually broken because a sponsor comes first and foremost. While a few of the mothers and fathers of Pokemon children do live together in the lucky circumstance that their sponsors also happen to share the same household, many still are separated by sponsors either not knowing or simply disliking each other.
- Kalos is the only region where entertainment jobs are closed to Pokemon, and Pokemon are excluded from being patrons in certain venues such as some restaurants and hotels; when they are allowed, they are usually strictly segregated from humans.
- Remember! In this AU all Pokemon can speak human, as well as having their own language. Therefore they are able to communicate effectively as well as say things amongst themselves that humans would not normally understand. The Pokemon language is simple called Poke, with the derogatory term being "Feralspeak".

Rules:
- COMMON SENSE RULES APPLY. This means no godmodding, bunnying, etc..
- I will close all reserves within two weeks of posting if they are not edited accordingly. I've had issues in the past with people reserving spots and then not following through on them, so I'm pretty serious on this.
- Proper spelling and grammar are a must. In addition, I reserve the right to reject an application if it does not meet the standards of the RP, and I promise I will give a good reason should I do so. You will also be allowed to edit and resubmit an application if it is rejected.
- Though the RP takes place in Kalos, it is perfectly alright that if you want to play a Pokemon, you can play one from a different region (i.e. a different generation Pokemon not normally found in Kalos). L'Academie is one of the more prestigious schools in the world and one of the few with both human and Pokemon dormitories, so it is entirely likely that a student from another region would be sent to attend school there.
- Multiple characters are allowed!

Accepted Cast List:
Reserved Cast List:

Name: Zaffer
Species: Fletchinder
Gender: Male
Hometown: Santalune Forest
Preferred Area of Study: Human Behavior/Language
About: As a Fletchling, Zaffer lived with his younger brother Twister. The twins lived in an old-growth tree in the center of Santalune Forest. Humans invaded the forest, taking away Zaffer from his brother rather abruptly. When he evolved, Zaffer decided to study the humans' language and behavior so he could understand - in a sense - what in the world was going on in their heads.
Description: .: Fletchinder disapproves of your malarkey :. by RooksRookery on deviantART (credit to RooksRookery)
Personality: Zaffer it a headstrong and hotheaded (no pun intended) Pokemon who doesn't always follow through with commands. He is a bit rebellious towards those he doesn't respect. He'll often stare down his opponents in the heat of a battle, as if daring them to move. Very I'll-tempered, Zaffer tends to ruffle a few feathers with his rivals. He doesn't like to socialize, and will often ignore any humans who tell him to follow orders, no matter how hard they try.
