Lack of Generation VI Pokémon in the anime?

Is it just me or is there a serious lack of gen 6 Pokemon being showcased in the anime?

I heard that gen 6 has the lowest amount of Pokemon introduced in a new generation so is that the reason why or do the current gen 6 games show Pokemon from all regions and the anime is replicating that? I know the gen 5 games showed only the gen 5 Pokemon (until after beating the elite four) and the anime did the same thing until Best Wishes Season 2 so maybe that is happening.

=)

Kalos is filled with pokemon from all regions, its true in the game so they are showing that to an extent

Excluding legendaries there's roughly 66 Pokemon introduced in Kalos, most of them had been shown earlier in the series in some form, as a Pokemon of the Day or one caught by Ash and friends. As has been mentioned the Pokemon you can find in XY are from across all the different regions, it wouldn't be very sensible to only use those 66 Kalos 'mons for the routes tbh.

Gen 5 was different though, it had over 150 new Pokemon introduced and was effectively a Kanto 2.0, if you will. The anime just stayed true to the games in that respect.

The problem is the fact that excluding legendary Pokemon, X and Y only introduced about 66 new Pokemon. To compensate for the unusually low amount of new Pokemon, several Pokemon from other regions can be seen through Kalos. Because of this, there's been a handful of episodes in XY that have had to focus on older Pokemon. There's still some that haven't had a feature episode, including Litleo, Quilladin, Phantump, Carbink, and a few others.
