I was thinking about what will happen when the time comes to wrap up the series, what will the last episode ever be like. Will it skip 10 or 20 years and show Ash as a Pokemon Master or just have him finally win a leauge or beat the elite four?
What do you guys think?

it might skip 20 years or so, ash will probably marry one of the main females and have kids that have the same spirit of wanting to be the best as their father, Brock wiil have his own daycare center or take the Pewter City gym back

Being a little realistic it will be your average "ratings fell too much, series being cancelled" type of ending, if someone knows how Inuyasha's first series ends, well, that's more like it, or even like Saint Seiya, but I bet there will be nothing of all stuff we wanna see, no answers, nothing...

And Team Rocket (trio) sacrificed their life to save earth, and Giovanni commited sucide 'cause of depression.

I don't get why so many people think this. Pokemon has been on the air for over 12 years. You don't just get some slapped together at the last minute ending with a show that's been on that long and is so recognizable. Things will definitly be resolved.

Just check how some long runners have ended, it is just one of two possible outcomes, I really like the series but it hasn't changed enough, of course it appeals to younger audience but as I was one of them I would expect the series to grow up with us as well, and it is a viable option if the writers find out how to keep their main audience while expanding it with more than just a touch of fanservice.

In the best case scenario I still expect a rushed ending though...

We must first realize what Pokémon anime is. It is one big commercial on other Pokémon merchandise and especially games. It's not anime like Inuyasha with decent plot. So, expect last Pokémon of the anime who didn't really have that much deep plot to have some deep plot is... well, naive. I don't know how to tell it better.

It's hardly plot-driven. It is not working towards an ending. The entire show is set up to be able to go on forever if it is allowed to. They would have to slap together a last minute ending, because the show is only going to end when it's canceled.

And that's the main reason I expect the worst case ending, once the franchise is no longer successful, the show will be doomed.

I doubt it'll be cancelled to end... they'll probably get told "okay, its been 50 years. Wrap it up, guys." XD

Exactly. With a show this well-known and been around so long, theres no way they'd just slap on an instant ending. Thats company suicide. They'd need to create a good ending for it. Or an ending movie of some sort.

It's more like company assisted suicide. If they're canceling Pokémon, there's not really much left of the company to destroy. If the games are still going strong, people will continue to buy them. They'll get over the bad ending. It's not like most people watch the show for its deep continuity.

InuYasha's first series only ended the way it did because they ran out of source material at the time. Amazing for a Takahashi series, but it's true.

If Pokémon is going to end, they'll probably have advance warning, so there would be plenty of time to at least arrange some kind of conclusion.

I'm surprised people think Pokemon would end without decent closure.

Its not going to simply end with Ash traveling in the middle of a region with whoever is on the cast at the time.

I also think that after Ash's story does end, there will be some follow-up specials or movies.

No, they don't. Buck crappy endings are crappy endings. It can hurt the company's reputation.

"Pokemon ends while Satoshi-tachi are in mid-battle with new Gym Leader! Pokemon fans shocked and dismayed!"

I'm exaggerating obviously. But really, if the ending is TOO bad... well, no anime company wants to end such a famous anime with POS.

I think the ending will be just like Orange Islands, that means Ash becomes a champion, some fireworks, hall of fame, and that's it, but you know, I am still being pessimistic.

And we already know from "word of god" Ash's story will most likely run forever, they said there is no "need" to change the formula.

Personally as much as I like Pokémon, I think the games NEED to stop after a possible Generation V, sounds crazy but is true, every time a new generation is born it comes closer to killing itself by overexposing it's fanbase (newcomers included.)

Meh i hope they do a proper ending but even if they dont i dont think i will be too worried

I really don't think that It will have a sensational type ending, I just think that It will end without conclusion.

Just enjoy the show. Don’t worry about silly things like what the last episode of Pokémon will be like. Besides, it likely going to be a long time before there is a last episode.

^ Its possible.

I just hope the show ends before I'm 30. If the show really does go on for another 10 years...then holy shit.

It'll have over 1000 episodes by then. At that point, the show will feel so disjointed continuity wise with so many characters and older Pokemon that nobody will remember everything that happened in it. I hope that doesn't happen.
