I need to construct a really good team to take on the Elite Four on my Leaf Green version. Can anyone suggest what pokemon I should use?

I have almost all the pokemon you can catch on Leaf Green (Except the ones on the national dex, obviously).

So, what pokemon, movesets and various other stuff should I use?

im up to the seventh badge in LG with snorlax (lv.44), haunter (lv.45), nidoking (lv.44), dragonair (lv. 45), articuno (lv. 51), venusaur (lv.52).
i suggest you use snorlax which is a tank when it comes to battling. im no expert so you should maybe wait for someone else to reply, however i have never lost a battle on leaf green.

I used Blastoise, Moltres, Raichu, Fearow, Butterfree, and Victrebell to get through the Elite Four my first time. Haven't been able to beat it sense XD

Butterfree killed everything in it's path. It was a sight to behold. Moltres and Raichu made quick work of Lorelei, Bruno was taken out by my Fearow, Butterfree, and Victrebell. Agatha was taken out by my Butterfree and Blastoise. Took Lance down with Blastoise and Raichu and then all of my pokemon worked together to take out Gary.

My suggestion is to buy LOTS of revives and Hyper Potions.

I forgot to mention that I don't want to use any legendaries. For me, that takes the fun out of it a little.

I don't have a Blastoise, what other water pokemon are suitable for the Elite Four?

And I do have a Snorlax, for some reason I named it Laxative.

I haven't played Leaf Green, but I have logged over 500 collective hours between Red, Blue, and Yellow from back in the day, so ... assuming that their line-up is the same, and that all that may have changed are moves (to 3rd gen-calibre) and the A.I. (ditto), here is my advice ...

Lorelei: all of her Pokemon are part-water in some way, so choose your favorite electric-type and run with it. Not very fond of Pikachu? Try raising an Electabuzz (who gets to become Electivire once you trade him over to D/P). Don't like either of those suggestions? Magneton's always a classic thanks to his wonderful SpAtt. He may be a little slow, but he packs a punch. (And remember that he, too, can become a cool Magnezone if you trade him to D/P.)

Bruno: I recommend Starmie. If you have access to multiple Psychic TMs, then there's nothing to worry about. Find a good Staryu with a Modest or Timid personality, EV train it to be a special sweeper, and teach it Surf and Psychic. One Starmie should be able to murder all of Bruno's team.

Agatha: All of her Pokemon are part-poison, so Starmie returns with a vengeance. Just make sure he's faster than Gengar or else he could get OHKO'd by a Shadow Ball. (I'm assuming she has this, even though I haven't played LG.) If you chose not to raise a Starmie to fight Bruno, then I recommend any Pokemon with a high SpAtt who can learn Psychic. If he's fast enough (Starmie, Alakazam), it shouldn't matter that Psychics are weak to Ghosts.

Lance: If you raised Starmie, this should again be a piece of cake. Teach it Ice Beam and OHKO every single member of Lance's team. If his team has been upgraded from RBY (back then it was Aerodactyl, Dragonair, and Dragonite) and includes some of his later favorites (like Charizard), Starmie can use other moves like Surf.

CONCLUSION: Starmie used to be able to OHKO Bruno, Agatha, and Lance's entire teams using Surf, Psychic, and Ice Beam. Complimenting Starmie with an electric-type made Lorelei easy work, and then the champion was never too bad, either.

If you choose to raise an RBY-gen Starmie, I recommend ...

a) Surf, Psychic, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt (can't learn Grass Knot, it doesn't exist yet! :p)
b) Surf, Psychic, Ice Beam, Recover (if you really want to keep Recover; he only learns it as a Staryu, though, so if you delete it, it's gone for good!)

Man people advocate deleting Psychic (and have advocated this ever since Gold and Silver came out), but that's because Psychic can be rendered useless by any Steel/Psychics or any dark-types. Back in RBY, it was lethal, and Starmie gets a STAB on it. It'll be really useful for your fight against Bruno's Machamp and Hitmonlee as well as Agatha's Gengar, Haunter, and Arbok (if they all still have those Pokemon). If you choose to go with Plan B, many people will tell you that T-bolt is better than Ice Beam. That may be true competitively, but for your ingame purposes, Ice Beam is going to be more useful (killing Lance!!!) than T-bolt (let your electric cover that!).

Thanks for the advice. And Leaf Green's lineups are almost identical to RBY's, apart from a couple of minor changes.

For an electric type, Electabuzz can't be caught on Leaf Green, would a Electrode be any good, or should I go with a Pikachu or Magneton?

I would (personally) recommend Raichu if you want a fast Special sweeper, but I'd recommend Magneton if you know how to use it (in RSE) since the current D/P metagame is lacking in Magnezones and you should be able to take advantage of that fairly easily. (Long story short, there's too many people laying Stealth Rock and Toxic Spikes, and Magnezone sort of shrugs those off. And a Magnet Pull Magnezone would always be useful for trapping Skarmory, just like in RSE.)

I recommend Raichu simply because:
- he's very easy to train
- he's very, VERY easy and straightforward to use (both in-game and competitively)
- in spite of his crappy moveset, he'll get the job done for you if all you care about is beating Lorelei

If the lineups are nearly identical ... then I have to emphasize, YOU WILL NOT REGRET RAISING A STARMIE so long as you can (and are willing to) teach it Surf, Psychic, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt. If any of those TMs are "one-time only" in FrLg and you don't have any way of importing TMs into your LG gamepak (e.g. from Ruby or Emerald), then he might be a little less appealing to you. But man oh man, this one little wonder will OHKO fifteen Pokemon of the 26 you're worried about, and he'll probably OHKO several more depending on his level.

OHKO comes with the assumption that he's at least within 5 levels of the enemy, of course. Don't expect a Level 33 Starmie to be OHKO'ing a Level 55 Dragonite. >> (Although that 4x weakness to ice is pretty important. lol)

I've started raising a Starmie. But I'm screwed. I can't teach it psychic because I used the psychic TM ages ago, and I don't have the Ice Beam TM either.

To get round the problem of no Ice moves, I'll probably use a Dewgong (which I taught Ice Beam to). Dewgong has surf so it can take out some of Bruno's pokemon as well as most of Lance's.

I'm not really convinced with a Magneton, and I hate Pikachu's, but I randomly went and attacked Lorelei with my Electrode, which is level 46, and it took out almost all of her team (which are around 8 levels higher). So I'm sticking with that, but of course I'll be leveling him up a bit first.

For Agatha's evil ghosts, I'll be using a Persian. It has a few Dark type moves, and ghost attacks won't work on him.

I'm going to take along my Butterfree for Bruno's fighting types. It has a couple of good psychic moves and sleep powder in case they get more annoying than they already are.

Now, that's four pokemon, If anyone knows some better ones, and the last two for my team, please tell.

Lapras, Water-Ice type. Very handy, I always have a lapras when I start with Charmander.

You could get Amulet Coin and then Vs. Seeker Trainers until you have enough money to buy Coins for Psychic and Ice Beam (or Thunder Bolt).I would take Lapras just because it's one of my favorite Pokemon.

I have no idea how similar FrLg is to the original games. In RBY, Psychic was a one-time only acquirement in Saffron City. In GSC, however, you were able to visit Kanto and purchase additional Psychic TMs. From 2nd gen onwards, in response to the huge fan demand during the original games, Psychic was (and forever will be) an infinitely-acquirable TM.

I would suggest trying two places ...
a) the Casino
b) the lady who awards Psychic in the first place (in the original games, a fortuneteller in Saffron City)

Talon totally forgot that Starmie has the potential to sweep the entire E4 since it also learns TBolt; so, no need for an Electric type.

And The Psychic TM should be in the Casino, since it ALWAYS is there in every game, along with Flamethrower, TBolt, and IBeam.

I didn't forget; you impolitely chose to not read all of my writing and prematurely came to your own conclusion. :| If you'd read what I wrote, you'd know that I not only did recommend the TBolt Starmie, but that I refrained from suggesting Gandavien rely on it as a Lorelei answer because he might (emphasis: MIGHT) want to keep Recover and Psychic over TBolt. Psychic for Agatha (who is a much greater concern than Lorelei), and Recover because in-game you can always get away with using it, unlike in the proper metagame where Starmie must needs be a pure Special Sweeper.

Please read what I write fully next time before saying I've overlooked something.

This is incorrect, and if you had played Pokemon Red and Blue along with the rest of us back in 1998, then you might know. Psychic only came into being as an "infinite TM" after huge fan demand made GameFreak acquiesce. In the original games, Psychic was a one-time-only TM, which is why teams that included both a Starmie and an Exeggutor (as was common back in those days, when we had pure-Psychic teams) required a kid to play through Story Mode twice (once on Red, and once on Blue). It is also the reason for why so many people were hesitant to include a Starmie on their teams, as they were quite hesitant to depart from the only Psychic TM they had for a Pokemon they weren't even sure they wanted to use it on.
