So, I've decided I'd start my New Year's Resolution and learn Japanese. I've decided I'm going to get "Genki: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese", since that got 5/5 stars average rating on Amazon and I heard it's THE best out there, but . .

any other recommendations before I go out and buy everything?

well i dont have any recommendations but thats cool anyway. Ive always wanted to know some japanese but I think I might have trouble learning it so I just look up a word everynow and then.

Never used that series of books, so I couldn't tell you how good it is. One thing I will suggest though is that you learn Hiragana/Katakana as soon as possible, and avoid the use of romanji. It helps a great deal in the long run, both in writing and speaking (or to be more specific, in pronunciation), by forcing you to think of each syllable, and how it should sound.
