The story I am about to tell you does not live in the human world.
You probably have seen this story the eyes of a pokemon. Well, the story has never been told from the heart of one. Not until now.
I was born here in a world, which was considered to be newborn and unclaimed. For our kind the land was ageless and free. The land, as well as our kind, had no beginning and no end. There was no boundary between earth and sky, no limit between real and fiction.
Like the spirits in the sky, we belonged here. We would always belong here.
They say the legends are the driving force that kept the quest for life alive. Whether that quest was won or lost in the end, it is up to you. But I was there. I remember the wind in the grass and the sun in my mane, and the beating and pawing of each little step, as the legendary dogs ran free.
I can never forget the feeling of running together, running as one. I remember it well. We roamed the lands, seas, and skies of the world. We all had a purpose. But back then my purpose was to be found. My purpose in life was still out there. And so, our story begins when my journey began.

Here I Am

High up in the sapphire sky, the sun flickers through the wings of the Ho-oh to silhouette his reign on the forest trees below. He searches through the thickets to find the creatures he was searching for.
Ho-oh circles above a location in the dense trees and gives a cry out to someone outside the forest. After hearing his call, and waiting no longer, Mewtwo enters and follows Ho-oh to the encircled spot.

In the dark dense meadow covered with dusk and fog, the Absols use their powers to search and hunt. They have found their prey, and nothing will stand in their way. One scout from the herd sniffs out the hiding place of the child and barks at the leader to come. The entire herd sneaks over getting ready to pounce.
As the leader jumps, Mewtwo stands in the way of the thicket hiding the babe. He stands tall, boldly carrying his pride and power. The herd stands down, all but the leader. The leader lunges with a dark attack. Mewtwo strikes first, and sends the Absol flying in midair with his psychic power. Mewtwo lets the Absol drop to the ground. In fear of another attack, the leader runs with the herd following.
Mewtwo kneels down and digs through the brush to find what he was looking for. He picks up the babe and heads out of the forest.

The herd of legendary dogs pounds their way through the mild prairie. With Suicune leading the way they never miss a beat, nor a breath. Over the next dune, Suicune abruptly stops, the herd also cease behind her.
Mewtwo stands, with babe in arms, in front of Suicune. The water dog leans forward to see the child enfolded in the psychic cats arms.
The babe was a steel type. Suicune can tell by the metallic fur glistening in the sun and brushing through the wind. She can also tell this babe was a dog all right, a male dog. He had eyes that seem to glow the whitest of white. By each ear stood an antler looking extension that seemed to make a y shape. Dangling down from behind each antler was a long extension of fur that hung to his chest and seems to stay there. His tail was made of the same long gray fur. His belly was a cream gray color while the rest of his fur was a light smoke shade. Spikes covered with fur laid on the sides and back of his body. The spikes were covered with fur and he had the ability to extend and retract the spikes if he wanted to.
Mewtwo laid the little dog on the ground. Almost instantly the dog tried to get up and walk. Suicune greeted the dog with her own soft, friendly roar. Her roar is a sound that was soothing and smooth. The little dog did the same; his bark sounded artificial. After their greeting the herd ran off with the little dog following them.

They knew I was no ordinary creature, no ordinary pokemon. They did not know where I came from, or if I was either born or placed on this earth. They knew that my existence was a sign that I was a special kind of creature, a creature destined for special things. And so, with the name Xayclo, I grew with the herd in mind, body, and spirit.

Growing with Xayclo

In the prairie below Mt. Silver, the herd stops for grass and other sustenance. While the elder ones take their time to eat, young Xayclo hops along the plains around the dogs.
Xayclo finds two legendary dogs drinking in the pool nearby. These dogs are new and look like their young, but they are older than they appear. Xayclo squeezes between them and take a few sips with his brethren. Xayclo winces and pulls his nose out of the water. Just of the tip of his snout squirmed a Magikarp bit onto his nose. The two dogs laugh at his embarrassing state, but Xayclo grinned and knocked one of them down. Xayclo ran away howling with laughter, with or without a Magikarp stuck to his nose.

The herd ran through the Ice Caves of Johto, with every step as one. Xayclo, a little older than last time, ran on an ice shelf just above the pack. He watched Suicune leading the way, which he referred to as his mother since she took care of him a lot as a pup.
Xayclo found a slide jettison out of the ice shelf. For fun, Xayclo jumped up and landed on the slide of ice. He slid down as the slide ran into the way of the herd. The dogs stop and watch Xayclo come towards them in a fast speed. The dogs step back, but Xayclo flies by with a wave of fresh powder covering the dogs behind him. Xayclo laughed, but the dogs were not amused. Suicune, with a grin on her face, shook her head.

At the entrance of the ice caves Xayclo found a little Sneasel stuck on an icicle. Since the pack was taking slow steps to get over the ice that led out of the cavern, Xayclo took his chance to help the Sneasel. Xayclo noticed the Sneasel had her tongue stuck on the icicle, it froze there as she was trying to lick the drippings off of it. Xayclo had an interesting grin on his face as he came up with an idea.
Outside the cavern, the herd stopped as they heard a loud snap echo from inside the cavern. They saw a Sneasel walk out of the cave with an icicle stuck in her mouth. Even within her predicament, the Sneasel was glad as she hopped away. Behind her was Xayclo, glad that he helped her. The dogs laugh at Xayclo’s successful plan. Xayclo was glad to hear them and sounded off a glad bark.

Much older now is Xayclo, even older than he looks. Xayclo looks like a young teenage dog would look. He ran with the two legendary dogs that he drank with earlier in life at the pool of Mt. Silver, now looking like adults. They followed the dusty charcoal trail inside the volcano of Cinnabar Island.
Xayclo stopped and let the two other dogs run off. Something spotted Xayclo’s eye, a river of lava. He has never seen lava before and thought it was a river of red water. Xayclo took a sip of the water, and jumped back in a yelp. He burned his tongue and singed his nose. As Xayclo’s tongue lay panting out of his mouth, he learned the hard way that he was weak against fire.
The two dogs found him and laughed at him. Suddenly, a fireball came shooting out from behind them. The dogs ran away and took cover near Xayclo. The fireball came from a Magmar who was about to fire another one. Xayclo stood ready for battle, even if he knew he was weak against it.
Magmar fired another fireball. Xayclo countered by jumping over it. After realizing Xayclo will not attack back, he fired another that Xayclo cannot jump over. Instead, Xayclo ducked under it. Magmar got furious and fired four consecutive fireballs at four different spots, hoping to hit Xayclo with one of them. But the steel dog dodged them all one by one.
The Magmar got furious and stormed off. Behind him, Xayclo can hear his friends cheering and howling for his successful battle.

The dogs rest in the dawn of the Viridian Forest. The elder dogs lay under the shade of the trees as they watch the two dogs and Xayclo drink from the little stream that crossed through. During their drinking a rumbling shook little waves in the creek. The two dogs were spooked at what caused it and ran away to the shade. Xayclo could not tell why they were frightened for he was standing right behind what it may be. Xayclo looked between his legs and saw the brown snout of a large creature. He jumped and turned to see it was more than one creature; it was a giant herd of Tauros. Xayclo stood there in awe gasping for air. The head Taorus, with a happy grin, roared at the steel dog. Xayclo returned the happy grin and growled back. Suicune called Xayclo to come, and Xayclo did, not without giving a loud roar of goodbye to the herd.

Xayclo runs off on his own, now looking like a teenage dog about to hit his adult years. He ran across the beach that stood between the forest and the sea. Every animal nearby comes out and gives a happy roar at him, from a little Rattata from the forest to a Dewgong from the seashore.
As Xayclo begins to run the bend of the beach, a great burst of water comes and unveils a Gyarados ready to battle Xayclo. The Gyarados perches on the sand bar and roars a mighty roar that shakes the land. The creatures nearby tremble at the thunderous roar and for Xayclo’s safety. Xayclo has a grin of pride on his face, even if he was weak against water. The steel dog roared back, his roar echoed louder than the Gyarados. The Gyarados knew he was outmatched; he nodded and returned to the sea calmly.
Behind him the forest and sea were a buzz with uproarious applause for the mighty dog. Also proud of his accomplishment, the Xayclo jumps up on his hind legs and kicks his forelegs, giving out a mighty roar in return.

Xayclo jumps up in the same pose years later. He now looks like a wise adult, but he is much, much older than that. It is now impossible to tell how old and wise he may be. He runs alone in the prairie where he first met the herd as a babe, chasing the Ho-oh as he glides above the steel dog.

And so I grew from pup to legend, carrying everything I’ve learned from the caregivers, the land, and myself. Wherever I ran, my presence was sounded like thunder over the land. Gliding with the Ho-oh, racing with the prairie winds. Flying? There were times I knew I could.

The Battle / A Legend's Purpose

Like Suicune before me I became the leader of the herd, and with that honor came responsibility.

Xayclo joined his herd in the clearing where Suicune and Mewtwo met with him as a babe. The legendary dogs take their time to eat the grass and bask in the warmth of the sun, all except Xayclo.
A little creature shuffled through the grass, bending the long strands into a path. The creature was too small to see in the tall grass, but Xayclo can tell it was staking.
The bent path of grass was leading right to the two new dogs playing in the sun, not noticing the approaching danger. The dogs jump and run as the creature springs out of the brush. The small yellow rodent was small, but powerful.
Xayclo jumped in between the dogs and the Pikachu, bucking his forelegs in midair. The dogs had a chance to leave before the fight began.
The Pikachu jumped up onto Xayclo’s mane and took a bite, however, he became injured from the metal defense of Xayclo. Xayclo bucked and kicked around in a circle trying to knock the Pikachu off. The rodent tried to stay on, but the long, thin, pointy metal spikes that was Xayclo’s fur pricked and clawed at him. The Pikachu was eventually knocked off and was very displeased at the outcome. In a spur of the moment, he threw out a mighty Thunder hitting Xayclo dead on. Xayclo stood there. As the Thunder cleared, he was unharmed. Pikachu was frightened, and furious. He ran up to the steel dog hoping to tackle it. Pikachu jumped in midair and gave out a loud screech. Xayclo jumped up on his forelegs and swung around in a circle, knocking Pikachu out of the air with his hind feet.
Pikachu hit the ground hard. Out of nowhere, Xayclo towered in front of Pikachu with his forelegs kicking, the spikes on his sides flared wide, and his artificial-sounding roar bellowing throughout the land. He threw down his fore paws, barely missing Pikachu. The rodent got the idea that his battle was lost and ran away to where he came from.
Xayclo could hear the dogs barking and howling for his winning battle. Xayclo folded his fur-covered spikes back down onto his body and joined his herd and called them together in his native tongue. Together, they ran off to another land.

Back in the brush, Pikachu joined his trainer. The trainer held him close, nursing his wounds. The trainer took the cap off his auburn hair so his wide eyes can see better and clearer of what has just occurred.
“What was that?” Ritchie asked himself.

The rainforest meadow looked like another world overlooking the real world. The skies were bright, the trees reached the sky, and the waterfall tumbling over the majestic cliffs were just heavenly. The falls kissed the stream the dogs laid by as they prepare for their night of slumber. Xayclo walked around observing his domain, and his brethren.

It was told by humans that the legends were the gods of the lands. That fact is entirely false. We legends may have godlike powers, but we are certainly no gods. We live and bleed like mortals do, but our life span is just long. We live nearly forever for we try to keep out of danger that may threaten our lives. Our lives were so important as our purpose. Yes, we legends have a purpose in life. We control the balance of earth. One will grow the grass as another supplies wind to move the grass. One will control when day may come and another will control when night may end. Even we in the herd have a purpose.

Suicune rested by the stream, the reflection replenishing her as her power made her glow like the dew.

There’s Suicune, the water dog. Her powers are to control the waters of the world and which direction their current may go.

Entei rested on a rock away from the stream, but in the pack. He treid to rest, but the moonlight would always be in his eyes.

Entei, the fire dog, had control of the volcanoes and the magma that flows through the world. With help from Regirock, the controller of the tectoral plates, he can cause a volcano to erupt or a batch of magma to break free from its core.

Raikou laid on his back playfully batting at fireflies. The glow of electricity around him kept Entei awake as well.

Then there is Raikou, the electric dog. Now Raikou does not control the storms of the world, he controls the lightning. He knows when Zapdos, the controller of the storms, will need lightning or not. And, to brew up some mischief, he can cause lightning without a trickle of rain needed.

In a clearing the two new dogs used their powers to play tricks on each other. Sicne they were night creatures, they played long into the night.

That leads to the two dogs you probably never heard about. They are as new to the land as I. Everything about them is a mystery, even how they look. All that was known was their names, types, and purpose. They are Centren, the dark dog, and Faltren, the ghost dog. They had a purpose with life on earth. Just as Latios and Latias guide souls to the world, Centren and Faltren guide souls out. There are a lot of deaths in the world these days, so a purpose like this requires two legends.

Xayclo walked up a rock next to the waterfall that was overlooking the stream and his pack. He watched the stars twinkle as one shot by like a falling star.

As for me, my purpose was undiscovered. Legends need to prove that they are needed, so they must find their purpose, a reason why they are here. My purpose could have been as infinite as the stars in the sky or as simple as friendship. Either way it was out there, I could smell its scent in the wind. And like a thief in the night, I would find it and take it as my own. Yes, then will my life be fulfilled.

Well, yeah, but I just started writing this a week ago for another site. You guys got more replies than they did, so I decided to share it here. I'll wait a while until you get the next two sections, then you guys hsould be caught up with the other forum.

The Campground

Xayclo woke up in his state of slumber hours before sunrise. He noticed the two dogs Centren and Faltren have finally fallen asleep. He also noticed a glow of distant fire in the canopies far away. It was a controlled burn that dared not move, but he knew it did not come from any fire pokemon.
Xayclo got up and walked a little closer. At further inspection he knew a fire pokemon could not do such a burn.
Suicune awoke from her slumber and stood next to Xayclo. She was also wondering about the flame in the distance. Xayclo walked closer, but Suicune grabbed his mane with her teeth and grunted at him. Xayclo softly barked to her that she should not be concerned. With Suicune watching, Xayclo ran off.

Something new came upon the land one night, something that would change my life forever.

Xayclo entered the clearing where the blaze was. Outside the clearing were a Pikachu and a Togepi sleeping side by side. Xayclo sniffed them for their scent, and found their scent was different from any pokemon he has met. Xayclo entered the trees which were the last barricade covering the burn, which turned out to be a campfire. Xayclo looked around the campsite and took a few steps closer.

A wiser legend may have turned and run, but I wanted to see what creatures may live here.

Xayclo circled the campfire, which he found as nothing but smoldering ashes at this time. He stopped and found one thing most unusual, something looked like it was sleeping inside a cocoon. Xayclo sniffed at the head of this cocoon, but a thin beige arm came out and threw his nose away. Xayclo was most confused and kept looking around in the campsite.
He then found a brown backpack, which looked darker in the evening light. He brushed his nose up on the backpack looking for a scent, but he put his nose inside the open backpack and got it stuck on his metallic snout. Xayclo shook his head as hard as he could and finally got the backpack off. The pack landed on the cocoon he sniffed earlier. A young human girl wearing a red bandana on her head got up from her slumber in the cocoon, most irritated.
“Hey! What the!” May said as she threw the backpack at the cocoon that lay next to it.
A young boy with skin as dark as mud came out of the cocoon and grabbed his backpack. “Son of a-!” Brock replied.
The girl told the boy to be quiet and pointed at Xayclo. The near morning moonlight shined on his metallic fur making him look more majestic and mysterious.
“Wow,” Brock explained quietly. “Look at that steed, he’s beautiful.”
Xayclo approached the third cocoon, not knowing that the two humans have emerged from theirs. Xayclo found a baseball cap near the cocoon, another object he has never seen before. He sniffed it, but the scent was so unusually unbearable to him that he shook his head to get the smell out of his nose. Out of his eye, he saw something stir from the cocoon next to him. He knew that scent and sniffed at the cocoon. The young boy that was inside rolled over and opened his eyes. There Ash and Xayclo were eye to eye with each other.
The new creature Xayclo saw spooked him and he jumped back. His hidn legs landed on the ashes of the fire smoldering their flame out. Even in the darkest of the night, Xayclo could see the three new creatures approach him, speaking in a tongue he has never heard before. He was not afraid, but the creatures looked like they were as they watched Xayclo’s nocturnal eyes glow as bleached white as the sun.
“Careful guys,” Ash said. “Don’t try to scare him anymore.”
“We’re not,” May said back.
Xayclo turned and ran off into the forest. Behind him he could hear the rustling of trees as the creatures tried to keep up with him. Xayclo jumped over a stream as he ran, but he stopped and got an idea. He waited for the creatures to come close. As soon as they did he turned around and threw his forelegs into the water, causing a giant wave to rise and fall onto the creatures, drenching them from head to toe. While the creatures stopped in their tracks, Xayclo turned and ran again.

The steel dog ran and ran until he found his way back to the dogs. His howl awoke them from their slumber. The dogs looked up at the happy Xayclo and roared back. Taking his place at the front, Xayclo and the herd ran off to begin their day.

The Rockets Attack

It is another usual sight of the legends taking a well-deserved break. This time it is in the land where the meadows end and the desert begin. Suicune, Entei, and Raikou search for grass to eat while Centren and Faltren sleep in the warmth of the sand.
Rustling is heard in the dead brush behind them as a wild call rings out.
“Tangela! Attack!”
Two long vines whip out of the brush and toward Centren and Faltren. The call has awoken them, but there is no time for escape. Suddenly, Xayclo steps in the way and stomps the two vines down with his hind legs. As the two dogs make their escape to the others, Xayclo stands firm for battle. Tangela throws her vines upward and is free, but Xayclo doesn’t move an inch. Instead, he grabs the vines with his teeth and whips the Tangela around in the air. He throws the little crass creature into the shrubs from where it came.
Xayclo stands firm and watches as another creature emerges from the dead branches. The creature was beige skinned with wild hair, dressed in black. The creature looked at him, wanting him, calling him out. Xayclo took his challenge and ran into the desert.
The Rocket grunt hollered a loud cry as he ran. After he picked up space he jumped up and threw down a small sphere. Out of the sphere emerged a Dodrio, tied to a saddle and bridle, taking his master on a wild goose chase after the steel dog.
Through twist and turn, from one tree to the other rock, Xayclo went on a rampaging trail in order to lose the grunt, and hopefully get him lost. Xayclo looked behind him and still saw him right on his tail. Xayclo knew he couldn’t shake him, so he had to face him.
Xayclo stopped and turned. He unfurled his spikes and stood tall, bucking his feet at the enemy. The grunt stopped and tried to protect himself with his arms. Suddenly, Xayclo threw his legs down and caused a giant rumble in the area, throwing the grunt off. The grunt was tangled onto the bridle of the Dodrio as the spooked bird ran off, dragging the grunt in the dust. Xayclo laughed and ran back to his pack. In the distance he could hear the Dodrio laugh as well.

Xayclo finds his family together waiting for him to return. He stands in front of them with an ecstatic bark to see them again. The others return their praise.
Suddenly, Xayclo twitched his ears behind him as he heard a rumble come from the distance. A rumble of a stampede he has never heard of before. He turns around to find five grunts in the distance, riding different types of fast pokemon. Xayclo turned and looked at his family in deep worry. He gave a roar of warning, which frightened them all very much. They have never seen Xayclo worried before. Xayclo turned around and saw that they are getting closer. He turned and roared again.
Knowing that he is serious, the dogs ran off into the desert. Xayclo ran behind them to keep them safe. The Rockets had fast pokemon and were gaining on the pack.
Xayclo looked to the side to see one of them riding a Ponyta nearing Entei. The steel dog did not know what the grunt would do next, and he did not care to know. Xayclo threw his body over there and threw his paws on the Ponyta, stopping the herd in his tracks.
The herd of grunts now faced Xayclo. The dog now had his chance to throw them all off the trail. Xayclo headed a different direction than the legendary pack and the grunts followed.

Xayclo ran past the cacti and Joshua trees for miles trying to shake the team of Rockets. Xayclo knew that five would be harder to shake than one, so he ran trying to find a plan to outwit them all.
After some time, Xayclo passed by a rare thicket of Joshua trees. He ran through the brush and the grunts followed. The grunts came out first, thinking that Xayclo bolted into the distance. However, Xayclo dashed out of his hiding place in the trees. Instead of running to the dogs, he chased the grunts. He wanted to make sure they were stopped for good.
Xayclo gained up on the one in the back. This was the same one that rode the Ponyta he stopped. The horse was hurt, but the Rocket grunt kept pushing her more, hurting her more. Xayclo reached out and bit the backside of the grunt. The grunt yelped in his pain while he let go of the reins and toppled into the dust. The Ponyta kept running and neighed a sound of thanks to Xayclo. As she parted from the team, Xayclo ran up some.
Xayclo dashed between two more Rockets, pulling the reins in their hands. The grunts let go of the reins, but they halt their steeds in the process. With them subdued for a moment, Xayclo headed up to the two in front. However, the one with the cornflower ponytails that rode a Houndoom could hear him coming. He motioned for the other grunt that rode a Girafarig to follow her lead.
Suddenly, the two steeds stop and let Xayclo take the lead. The two pokemon bolted with their masters in tow. Now the Rockets were chasing Xayclo again. But this steel dog is not licked yet.
Xayclo ran into a rise of rocks, the Rockets followed. They ran and watched as the rocks kept growing and growing from the ground until the formation became the walls of a tiny chasm. Xayclo could not jump over the walls and he was nearing a dead end.
“Yeah! We got him now!” yelled Cassidy, the girl with the ponytails.
“Yeah, you betcha!” added the grunt on the Girafarig steed.
As Xayclo reached the dead end he jumped up and dug his metal claws into the wall. The claws sunk through the rock like a hot knife through butter. The grunts stopped and watched the dog climb up the wall.
Xayclo looked down at them with a smirk on his face. He leapt off the wall towards the girl with the cornflower hair, roaring and kicking his legs. Cassidy screamed and fell off the Houndoom so the steel dog wouldn’t trample her. Xayclo landed behind the Houndoom and ran, the dark dog following him as he happily roared.

The two dogs parted ways, Houndoom to the meadows and Xayclo to the plateaus of the desert. Xayclo ran through the rocky twists and turns of the canyon the mighty plateaus made as he headed a straight course. He was trying to find his herd, but he stayed on his toes for another ambush by the Rockets.
Suddenly, at the bend of the last plateau, something jumped up and rung around Xayclo’s neck. Xayclo was jerked sideways and almost thrown of balance. He looked up and saw the strangling rope held onto a Rocket grunt with short blue hair, riding a Mightyena.
“Thought you could get away didn’t you boy,” Butch said to the dog.
Xayclo roared and pounced at Butch. Suddenly, anther clenched rope wrapped around one of the antler like extensions on his head. The dog yelped and tried to hold his balance as he landed on the ground.
“Come on! Quickly now!” commanded Cassidy next to the grunt who threw the last lasso. She threw out her tangled rope and tied another nose around Xayclo’s neck. As she pulled back on the rope it tripped his front leg up in the air. Xayclo tried to lose balance, but went crashing into the ground.
As the other two surrounded his retreat, Xayclo looked up on a plateau above him. There stood the legends, all five of them, shocked at what they saw. A legend, caught in his prime.
Suicune could not believe it and tried to climb down and help Xayclo. Xayclo saw her and roared at her, telling her to stop. Suicune stopped in shock that Xayclo is not doing anything, not even attacking. All Xayclo could do was roar one more metallic roar, telling her to go back. Suicune shook her head in sadness. In tears, she turned and called the herd to run away.
As the dogs left him there, Mightyena looked up and saw the legends. He looked down at Xayclo and could not believe it. The humans did not know what kind of pokemon they had, but their pokemon now knew.
Xayclo looked up at a grunt’s Girafarig, who could barely neigh with the bit of the bridle in her mouth. She shook her head in despair and looked away. She did not want to see the one who will endure the torture she was in.
Xayclo had a strong will, but his face showed great fear of the future.

I did not know what was going to happen to me, no one there knew, but at least the legends and the herd were safe.
