Considering having 35 already how many more? Gen IV adding the most ever will Gen V go higher than 14?

Gen I: 5 new
Gen II: 6 new
Gen III: 10 new
Gen IV: 14 new

Gen V: ?

Thoughts?

5/10, they realised how terrible an idea it was to make so many legendaries. My gut's telling me 7.

I think RSE did it best, so something like that. Two trios, Version mascots and secondary trio. A couple of meta-game Pokemon and a couple of Event Pokemon. You don't really need more than that.

I would want no more than 5 or 6, but I'm probably wrong. Generation IV introduced way too many.

Yeah 5-8 sounds good. I would prefer them to be more like myth Pokemon like in Gen II and III than whatever was going on in Gen IV.

Nice idea! The 4th Gen ones (or at least the latter ones) seemed quite random!

...Am I missing something? Gen. III with ten was just fine, but Gen. IV with only four more in a larger, more mythically-oriented region is way too many?

Honestly, I don't really care how many. Just make them cool, and tie them in with the world.

I think they are going to aim for around 8

5-7 would be good

14? REALLY
it makes legendaries less elite

Version A mascot (1)

Version b mascot (2)

Trio(5)

trio master (6)

1-2 Event Exclusives (7-8)

Legendaries should be an elite corp

If they insist on increasing the number of Legendaries AGAIN, they might as well go ahead and make Gods of every type or something. As in, have Arceus as the God of them all, and each of them ruling over their own type under Arceus.

I'd rather they decrease the number rather than increase it, though.

Forgot trio master for third version, so 8.

nope, 3rd Gen were pushing it whereas Gen. 4 just took the piss out of the status of "legendary" entirely.

You need a trio master for the third game. Don't forget about him!

EDIT: Damn! Ninja'd!

QFT. Good idea but they shouldn't increase the number of Legendaries because they know the fans will go Chris Brown on their ass so hard/fast they won't know what hit them.

I seriously hope they don't go further than 14. Actually, no further than 10. I agree with 5-8, that seems like the perfect number. Then there can be room for plenty of non-legendaries. And hopefully we won't be having pre-evo and evo overload this time. D:

5-8 sounds like a reasonable estimate to me. Though they might return to III's 10, since they could say "Gen IV had too many, but Gen III didn't".

Personally, I don't see why they bother with so many legendaries. A shiny Milotic is miles better for a gift than a super-rare pokemon that feels cheaply rare in my book. Too many legendaries are cheap, there are many better ways to add value to a pokemon without making it legendary.

Since we have to many legendaries, I wouldn't mind if some of them got 'downgraded'. Does anyone really feel as though the legendary birds or the Regis are really that legendary, especially since the show doesn't even take them seriously?

I'd prefer this setup of nine:
-Lesser trio, i.e. the usual birds/beasts/golems/pixies. Don't make them all the same single type again.
-Uber trio, i.e. the version mascots like the Weather/Dragon trios.
-Event trio, with one each filling the archetypes of Mew, Deoxys/Mewtwo and the "master" of the new lesser trio.

Nothing else. This is where Generation IV got too crazy, as things like Heatran didn't necessarily have to be Legendary Pokemon. It was too messy and there were too many of them. Why did Phione exist? Why did we need both Manaphy and Shaymin?

The Birds are hackers on steroids. The Regis not so much.

I personally think Legendaries should get genders randomly assigned to them, just make them incapable of normal reproduction. Because after all, the PMD games make it clear certain Legendary pokemon do actually have genders, and it wouldn't make sense for pokemon to be able to tell the genders of eachother, but humans can't.

as many as they want so long as none of them are stupid like some of the gen IV ones.

If they go by past Pattern's there will be atleast 8 Legendaries in Generation Five.

.Mascot Trio,
.Second Trio,
.Small and Cute but Powerful Legendary,
.The Uber Legendary for that Generation.
I don't really mind if there's more then Eight, Legendaries always look cool^^
