Well we know that Legendary Pokemon cannot evolve, or at least are not known to evolve from anything else. So I was thinking, could 5th gen somehow add maybe Legendary Pokemon with evolutions, or evolutions from previous Legendary Pokemon? It would be rather odd, but it could be pretty cool in a way. What do you guys think?

The pokemon can not evolve, but they can give birth to other legandery pokemon/ Lugia in the Johto League. Meaning they can lay eggs. Also leganderies can lay eggs and come out to other legandery pokemon, Manaphy and Phione. We do not need to have leganderies to evolve, we just need to see a legandery and its baby. Meaning they need to have certain pokemon legandery to have eggs in the games.

They need to stop with the silly evolutions, so no, I don't think that would be cool.

Remember, the main purpose of evolutions is for base stat changes. Legendaries aren't used in competitive battle so there wouldn't really be a purpose.

No, I don't think that legendary evolutions would be something that GF would do. They woudl kind of defeat the purpose of a legendary. Besides, if a legendary evolved, then it's evolution would be super-powerful. So they'd have to nerf the pre-evolution to make it balanced. Then that raises the question of why it's not a regular pokemon to begin with, if you have to manage it so much.

Besides, personally, I think we have too many legendaries. Gen V would be great IMO if it only had a few of them.

Actually legendary pokemon are used quite often in competitive battles.

Could they make evolving legendaries? They set their own rules, so yes.

Should they? No.

would be fun to have one of 'em. But that's it. No others. And the whole line has to be introduced in the same gen.

I don't think Legendaries will evolve, 'cause then there would be Legendaries and Super Legendaries...

I do believe, however, that in the future, possibly in the final generation, they should give us an item that allows Legendaries to breed. A "Legendary Incense", so to speak.

I thought more of pre-evo's for legendaries, and I Think the OP did too (or newly introduced pokémon that evovle into legendaries)

The legendaries in the Uber tier are version mascots and generally Pokemon with a base stat total of 600+

However, there are certain legendary Pokemon that aren't in the Uber tier and thus not banned from standard competitive play (ex: Jirachi, Celebi, Phione, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Latias, Uxie, Mesprit, Azelf, Regigigas, Heatran, Cresselia, Shaymin Land Forme)

So saying that Legendaries are banned from competitive battling is technically a false statement. However, all of the gamebreaking ones are (Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Deoxys, etc.)

It's not merely "technically" false, it's just downright false in every sense of the word. You see legendary pokemon on a regular basis on the standard ladder on Shoddy.

Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Years ago somebody showed me a picture of Torchic and said it is a preevolution of Moltres. They thought of this because they are both Fire-types and are based on birds.

I wouldn't mind a one-off legendary that could have an evolution chain, provided it wasn't related to anything prior or those introduced during the new gen. Just one. The concept wouldn't have to be run into the ground.
Like, maybe depending on what evolutionary stage it's at, it'd help you access different areas of the game, uncovering the secrets of the region's mythos or patching together it's backstory? Maybe it was the very first species of pokemon to evolve and they could make a side-story out of that?
