Change, like sunshine, can be a friend or foe, a blessing or curse. A dawn, or a dusk.
-William Arthur WardPrologue
It was supposed to be a joyous day. My grandfather was retiring as Gym Leader and my mentor was to succeed him. Petalburg was in a celebratory mood. From a sickly child, to Champion of Hoenn. One of the most prodigious trainer in Hoenn is to grace the small town in becoming their Gym Leader.
Fame and prestige will surely follow, and of course, the money from travelling trainers looking to challenge.
Yet my mentor did not seem at all happy. Beneath all the obligatory smile and warm handshakes, I could see that he was disturbed. I wished I had asked him what was wrong that day.
Perhaps, if the world wasn't so peaceful, then we would have been vigilant and watchful. Maybe, if the old guards were able to toss aside their differences, then we won't be in this sorry state. The villains were right, and we were wrong.
Now, all we can do, is to wait and watch the world end.
Or we could throw away our lives for one final push.

"What do you suppose these symbols mean?" quizzed Brendan. May sighed and gave a shrug.
"Brendan, we're lost, could put finding the way out as our first priority?"
But the primal symbols etched onto the cave walls continue to fascinate the Champion.
Two weeks after defeating Steven, Brendan received a letter from Kanto's renowned League winner. A cryptic message and a detailed map was all Brendan had, but he was not about to let an adventure slip by.
The cave was completely still and devoid of sound, save the footsteps of the couple as they trod down the narrowing path. Brendan's mind slowly wandered back to the letter which sent him on this journey.

Dear Brendan,
Congratulations on your victory!
Your command of the battle and synchronization with your partners were flawless. It is a rare gift that you have, one that the world direly needs.
My name is Red, you may know me as Kanto's current League Champion, but I am no different from you. We were both young trainers who set out on an adventure with our friends, and we both ended up as the strongest trainer in our country because we believed in our abilities.
Yet, I am afraid this peril is beyond our individual capabilities. With me are several trainers of world renown but we need all the help we can get. Steven and Wallace have already accepted our call for aid, we need your skill and knowledge too.
Indicated on the map are our base of operations. Meet us there within a month. Please.
Regards,
Red

May stared in disbelieve as Blaziken collapsed. She has only been defeated twice, both times by Brendan, but they were close matches, down to the wire. Yet this was beyond comprehension, even Lyra is this strong? Just how powerful are they?
"C'mon, relax it's just training." consoled Brendan. After all, he had his team wiped by Ethan just yesterday. A strange feeling to him, having used to being the victor. He is now the newest member of the crew. And one of the weakest.
They arrived at the hideout a week prior, greeted by both new and familiar faces. Steven and Wallace had arrived only a week before them, and they too were under immediate and intense training. Yet none of them complained. They knew of the task, and they were the few chosen to prevent this coming catastrophe.
Later that afternoon, in the usual meeting room, Brendan had an epiphany.
"Why don't we try the cave of Origin? Isn't that where it all started? There must be some answers in there." suggested Brendan.
Wallace shook his head. While legends states that life began in the Cave of Origins, this threat pre-dates life itself, he explained. Besides, he had already searched the cave to no avail. Answers will have to be found somewhere else.
"I still believe that the Ruins of Alph will provide answers" quipped Ethan, much to the exasperation of the others. They had already combed through the ruins without success. Hilbert even suffered a sprained ankle there due to loose flooring.
There must be something somewhere to provide a clue, Brendan thought as he search his mind for any indication of such a calamity during his previous travels. Calming two primal beast and smashing a meteorite seemed insignificant compared to what they told him, yet he couldn't help but feel that all these were connected somehow. It all boils down to one question.
How are they supposed to stop God itself?

~Post Apocalypse Year 5~
Matis was barking out orders as usual, screaming at the new recruits to get in formation. Time and again the new recruits were tardy and slow. It has barely been half a decade since the Great War, and these foolish babies have already forgotten their urgency. These young ones are useless, grumbled Matis to himself.
"All of you, give me another 20 laps!" Screamed Matis. He did not have time to babysit these new recruits. Another pointless interview with historians await, and he had to meet with the mayor on issues regarding security. Can't a sixty year old man get a break?
-
"Have a seat Matis." growled the mayor. Matis declined. "I'd much rather stand thank you. What's the agenda this time?"
Matis hated the mayor. Where was he during the Great War? All the did now was sit and collect money, sitting behind the desk ordering people around. Such incompetent fools should not be running the city. Perhaps if HE was in charge, the recovery would be much-.
"MATIS, are you listening to me?!" Shouted the Mayor. A glare and a nod was all that was needed to for the mayor to continue droning on about wall building efforts and other similarly stupid topics.
A noticeable change in tone caught Matis' attention. "What did you say to those historians?"
"Same old...same old." No one can know the truth. Bullshit thought Matis. Were it not for the threat of treason and exile, he would have revealed to the world what happened.
The government of the world had convened and discussed at length about the repercussions of the Great War. Yet the only thing they concluded after months of debate was to keep the event shrouded in mystery to the public. Fools, though Matis. Those heroes gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep the world at peace, yet those bureaucrats refuse to honor their lives for some political reasons.
Those kids were much better commanders than he was, Matis grudgingly thought. But I'm the survivor. Once again, his Raichu saved his life on the battlefield. Once again, he lives, while his comrade dies.

Hello! Hope you enjoy my little on going project. It would mean a lot to me if you could leave a little note on how I can improve, or where your favourite part was.
Cheers!!
