I'm hoping to start doing Let's Plays on my YouTube channel sometime in the near future, and I'd love to do some Pokémon LPs if I ever get the ability to, but I'm not sure exactly what Nintendo's policy is on LPs of their first-party games. I've heard a few conflicting accounts, and it sounds like I actually have to get permission from them or something, and have options on how much of the ad revenue they take depending on what games I play. Can anyone verify/explain exactly what I'd be getting myself into?

I think they have a list of approved games and they get all the ad revenue
Also I don't think they like people playing on Emulators or modified DS/3DS so you'd probably best stick to Pokemon gens 1-3 on a gameboy player (or preferably a super gameboy/GB Tower for gen 1)

Well, that can't be right. Chuggaaconroy does Nintendo games almost exclusively, even DS/3DS titles, and he still gets paid. And he uses a modified 3DS, too, he actually showed a picture of the setup when he figured it out.
I remember hearing that you have two options: Play nothing but Nintendo games and get all the ad revenue, or play both Nintendo and non-Nintendo games and only get 75% of the ad revenue. I'm not sure of the specifics, which is why I asked. Like, if you take the second option, do they only take the revenue from the Nintendo LPs, or do they get 25% of your overall revenue for each video, regardless of the game?

Just looked this up
Nintendo Creators Program
Basically, you can upload anything to youtube and Nintendo takes all the ad avenue. If a game is on this whitelist Nintendo Creators Program and you live in one of the supported countries you can put on these shackles Nintendo Creators Program and apply at Nintendo's discretion to get a cut of the ad revenue
As stated in the FAQ, unauthorized game modifications may not be used. Nintendo also has the discretion to take down anything they don't approve.

So basically just forget about ad revenue and do what you want.

Okay, thanks. I am hoping to make some money off of my LPs (at least enough to pay for new games and equipment), so knowing that I'll still get the revenue from non-Nintendo LPs is reassuring. I might join the program eventually, if my channel picks up.
