Hello folks, let's talk skincare! Do you have a skincare routine, such as using a cleanser and moisturizing? What does your personal skincare routine consist of - both in the morning and evening? Has your routine changed much in the last few years? (Bonus) Do you use sunscreen?

Currently, I use a tea tree facial wash in the mornings, then wash it off and put on moisturizer, and in the spring and summer months I also apply sunscreen afterwards. Where I live there is no need to use sunscreen during the fall and winter, so I forego that during those times. In the evenings I use the same tea tree cleanser and leave it on my face for an hour or two so it can work against reducing any future breakouts (suggested by my cosmetologist and has been working for me), apply a small bit of benzoyl peroxide cream to any acne spots I may notice, then moisturize. Pretty simple, but works well for me!

Ooh, a thread for me! :yay: I'm pretty into my skincare, though I would be lying if I said I 100% trusted and believed it was actually having any major effect on my skin, hahaha.

AM routine:
Cleanse
Retinol serum
Water-based moisturiser
Lip balm
Factor 50 SPF (always, all seasons & weather! Gotta keep that pale complexion going LOL)

PM routine:
Makeup remover
Cleanse
Retinol serum
Hyaluronic acid serum
Salicylic acid serum
More lightweight moisturiser
Eye cream
Lip balm
& I generally apply a targeted anti-acne treatment here if I need to.

I also exfoliate with glycolic acid 2-3 times a week in the evening at the moment.

This is definitely the most extensive my skincare routine has been so far. I used to use moisturiser and suncream when I was in school, then I slowly started expanding on that bit by bit as I researched and learnt more. To be honest, I'm definitely spending far too much on this right now, but it makes me happy. Shrug.

3 serums :o that's a lot. You think it's working better than before? I recently toned (lol) down the amount of products I use to oil-based cleanser, nicamide serum, creamy moisturizer and of course ALWAYS SPF, plus Q10 eye cream for my dark circles. Retinol serum about 2 nights a week. The results are positive so far. Also smearing more Vaseline lately when I'm inside most of the day or for the night. Otherwise I gotta reapply SPF every hour due to the nature of my work. My skin is extremely sensitive but using only these products my complexion has improved compared to when I was using more products.

Definitely! I would say I've got the opposite of sensitive skin: my skin is incredibly needy. The moment I stop using something in my routine or switch a product I like for something else, I start breaking out. Tbh I do take breaks from using them (especially the salicylic acid) when my skin is a little more sensitive or damaged - usually around the time I get my eyebrows waxed or my eyelashes done, since I'm mildly allergic, lol - but for the most part it's definitely working for me.

I do nothing. I honestly couldn't care less, and besides, everything related to skincare feels slimy and painful to use, so I just don't. I have dry skin anyway, and, before people come at me and say "use lotion" it's slimy and disgusting and I hate the texture, so.

Interesting. How did you get into it and how do you research? I have a similar experience to you that I need to use certain product otherwise my skin gets flaky and irritated. I call that sensitive skin or maybe combination skin since it reacts strongly to outside factors. Nowadays my budget isn't the biggest so I'm resorting to the cheapest home brand things I can find unless I can buy in large amounts for a discount. Still very expensive v_v It does make it easier to try out different ingredients to see what works because there's not that much investment into a single product. I dunno if I'll start "upgrading" to higher priced options any time soon. Yes, a 30 euro serum would be nice but I have difficulty justifying the purchase when it's about 6 times the price of I'm using now. I could see myself moving into the 10-20 euro range maybe just to see how significant the quality gap is once I figure out a satisfactory mix of ingredients.

My current routine is lacking vit C so I'd like to experiment with introducing that over the Summer. From what I've read nicamide (vit B3), vit C and retinol are some of the most powerful ingredients you can use. I've had a good reaction to all of them at one point, so I'm gonna try to make a palpable combination out of them. Calm skin is my number one priority still, I don't wanna feel like my face is burning all the time... I'd say I've made some progress during this year already. Once it's stable I'd be interested getting a bit more creative trying other products more frequently. Do you feel as if you're set in your ways or wanna try something else too once in a while?

You don't use sunscreen either? For me I hate the feeling of getting sunburned more than smearing it on. Although, as a child when I got a sunburn my parents would lather me with perfumed sunscreen that made by skin sting even more... I'd say if you wanna try something at one point definitely go for product with 0% parfum. Your choice of course.

I don't go outside, and when I do I'm that weirdo who wears a jacket in summer, so to be honest here.... I don't really need sunscreen since I'm basically a recluse who barely goes anywhere and is outside for maybe a total of ten minutes a week.
