Having a level 100 pokemon is seen as an accomplishment to some people, and people often brag about their awesome level 100 pokemon. I'm not really sure I understand why though. I'm actually disappointed when one of my pokemon starts approaching level 100.

When one does I never use it again, because there's no point at all. It doesn't even gain any experience, so it feels like I'm wasting experience that could be used for another pokemon that I'm trying to level up. Sure it can wreck anything in game if that's what you care about, but to what end?

lol what do you do do you just EV them and let it sit there in box til you get a battle??? lol???

wat if um... someone comes up to you and asked for a free battle then what would you do huh????

Actually that's precisely what I do.

If someone asks me for a free battle, then I don't accept. Why would someone ask me for a free battle?

isnt that the point of raising pokemon? (the anime would disagree with me)

i have a whole box of pokemon that im trying to raise to level 100

I actually understand and agree with you MissingNo.

Although LV 100 pokemon are awesome (especially when you first get one), once they reach that level, what's the point? Not only does it feel wasteful to keep using them, but it's not like there's any real fun or challenge anymore. All the monsters you meet will either be pretty easy to take down or just evenly matched enough that they irritate or bore you.

I finally raised a Pokemon to level 100 (and I have two more on their way) a few days ago, my first one. I've been playing since Red & Blue, but never was able to raise my own level 100 (except for with the ol' "rare candy trick"). I was excited for a little while that I finally raised a level 100, it definitely isn't as fun to use anymore, and hasn't really been fun for the past few levels, too.

Also in Platinum, you can catch a level 100 Magikarp.

Which is pure awesome.
Though really annoying to get. Stupid fishing...

I never enjoyed leveling up my Pokemon, and I feel good walking around the world on my errands with my level 100 Mew and Mewtwo.
I don't focus on battling too much, and I don't really care about those kinds of challenge, so it's good to know that should any Pokemon challenge me, I can whip their ass in one hit, than be on my way.
Sure, the actual battles aren't too much fun, but they're short, sweet, and I do feel rather epic, whether or not I actually am.

With the fact that competitive battling is just so easy to compete in nowadays, it seems that this is the only reason to get a pokemon to lvl 100. Frankly, in my whole life I only once got a pokemon to lvl 100 and that was (surprise surprise) in Silver. I never saw much point to it till the DS came out and wireless battling came about. But then again, you could just fight a lvl 100 battle and it wouldn't really matter. So in the end, there isn't much reason to get to 100.

Personally I only got one Poke to lvl 100. The closest I've gotten with any other Poke was Garchomp in Platinum which got up to lvl 89. I don't see a point in doing that now days since WiFi just bumps your Pokes up to lvl 100, all you need to do is give them good EV and etc and you're set.

If we're talking about old games, I will admit that I raised a team to level 100 in Blue so I could beat Pokemon Stadium. I'm convinced that that game is impossible to beat without raising a team to level 100 (unless you get some mad hax over and over or something).

Getting Pokemon to lv100 is the only thing I really do now on my Plt, i mean, i have beaten the game, i dont have wifi on it so what else is there to do. I raise my Pokemon to lv 100 so i can have a lil bit more varity when i battle, cuz i like many other People only raise my favorites but you have to run out of favorites eventually so raise more, thats what i have been doing and now i have around 60 lv 100s on plt with a Bastiodon and Wigglytuff not far behind.

And i got through the elite four so quick so that i can raise Pokemon to a high enough lv to where they can do most of the battling, i just have the others as back-up

Battle frontier? Contests? Collecting all 493? Shiny hunting? You've done all of that? How about competitive battling (go to one of many many wifi hotspots)? If growing pokemon to level 100 is what you're in to, then I say go for it by all means. Just don't say there's nothing left to do in the game, because I guarantee there is something else.

Also, why are you raising them to level 100? Is there a reason, or is it just so you can have a collection of level 100 pokemon?

Done the Frontier, I refuse to do Contests, I got all except for the event Pokemon, i got most of the shinys that i want and i can't really get wifi. I wouldn't see it as a collection, more as a lil goal

you train them to 100 so you can win free battles? duh. It's not that hard.

Why train to level 100?

You might as well ask:
Why would you bother defeating Bowser in Super Mario Bros?

Its an achievement. All games end eventually (well maybe not games like the Sims)

The only reason I level my Pokemon to 100 is so I can battle people in real life since it's easier than going on Wi-Fi.

That's completely understandable then.

Me and my brother enjoy battling eachother, I've always had lv.100 pokemon
I got platinum a month ago or so and I have 7 100 pokemon 2 ev trained. I have a team ready to ev train with iv's and nature. Its fun to train for me, I also got 350+ pokemon. Im tryin to get them all too. I don't care about contests, I think there the worst thing in the pokemon games...

I feel a sense of accomplishment whenever I get a new Pokemon to level 100, and also that I just added another Pokemon to my permanent arsenal. *Nods* That's why I raise my Pokemon to level 100. n.n

I can understand the argument that a level 100 Pokemon is a waste to use later... But that's why I set them away for matches, any time anyone wants to challenge me - in person or on WiFi - and start training another.

One day, I want to have a competitively battle-ready level 100 of every fully evolved species. A pretty well impossible goal, if I'm going about it completely legit, I know... But a guy can dream, right? XD
