(I will update this post as I gain knowledge, recommendations, add Pokemon to my list, and try different things!) Yosif, how goes it? I just recently started playing Pokemon again earlier this year when I picked up a 3DS and Pokemon Y at a pawn shop, now I just got Omega Ruby and I;m just getting into the Competetive scene and for the first time have acess to trading. (No link cable when I had Gold and Silver, I stopped playing in 2nd Gen)

I'd basically really appreciate reccomendations/adice/helpful tips on how to better shape up my Current and Future Competetive Pokemon!

From my experience, that Gengar moveset, while good, is extremely common. A good way to get the upper hand in competitive battling is by offering something a little more surprising to throw your opponent off. I haven't used any of the other Pokemon you do competitively but if you took a lot of these movesets from, say, Smogon, then you should tinker with their movesets and strategies to make them a bit more viable.

Gengar probably has the most Kos of them all, he's my fave <3 I actually got all of my movesets and stuff from Pokemondb.net, alot of them I had to tweak cause they were 5th gen sets though. Should I start using Smogon?

It's clear you have little experience, but hey, when I started playing competitively I used Delibird in OU!

1) Ghost and Dark have completely redundant coverage, so drop Dark Pulse in favor of Shadow Ball/Focus Blast/Thunderbilr or HP Fire/Taunt, as unreliable as Focus Blast may be, nothing by far resist Ghost+Fighting, giving you 100% neutral coverage in just two moves; akso, Timid>Modest.

2) Greninja is banned at the point, and that's due to Protean, use Azumarill.

3) Scarf Rotom-W Hydro Pump/Volt Switch/HP Ice /Trick or TB

4) MScizor SD/Bullet Punch/Bug Bite/Knock Off.

5) Unaware Quagsire should run Scald.

6) Run Weavile ir Tyranitar over Spiritomb as a Dark-type if you wish.

GL!

You could use Smogon if you want, Pokemondb is pretty good already though.

Continue to tweak things, though. It'll help out in the long run.

is Timid>Modest the same for Dragonite?

SD pretty much always means "Swords Dance" when talking about competitive Pokémon.

It's a bit late here so I'll probably just bring up a few points for now, hopefully I can add more later on.

There are many battling formats out there (Singles, Doubles, Inverse, Multi, etc) so take your time and read up on them to see what interests you. You don't have to focus on a single one but I'd suggest being familiar with them to see how they work. People have posted a couple of resources to help you on your way, and you can also use the Bulbapedia wiki to learn more about abilities and what moves each Pokemon learns.

Some general points:
- Give Greninja Protean, its Hidden Ability, and I'd go with giving it a Life Orb, that'll let it hit things hard and fast. Though, as it has been mentioned, Greninja is banned under the Smogon Singles format (which is widely used in single battles) so make sure that your team complies with whichever format you're playing.
- Sucker Punch on Mega Mawile lets it deal with its low Speed and hit things. Ice and Thunder Fang do offer pretty good coverage but I'd suggest dropping one in favor of Play Rough. The Fairy type offers good offensive coverage and with the STAB "Same Type Attack Bonus" on Mawile (it's a Fairy type now!) it's usually preferred over the elemental fangs.

Will be using Vitamins on these ones, I heard you get a better stat yield... :/
- No matter which way you give your Pokemon EVs it wouldn't affect their stat yield, so no need to drain your wallet for those vitamins :)

It looks like you have a lot of Pokemon you're considering but for now I suggest focusing on a couple of them and testing them out. Get a feel on what their strengths and weaknesses are, and see how you can make changes to help them work to your liking. Practice some battles so you can develop a sense of your team's capabilities and limitations, and analyze what to do to improve your performance.

Always cool when a trainer wants to learn more about battling, if you have other questions or concerns feel free to ask! If you want to have some practice battles you can drop me a line and I'll do what I can to help, best of luck!

Thanks for the helpful advice! :) I've learned a lot from the couple forums I joined.

SOwait, if I lets say have an EV trained lvl 50, and I use the Reset Bag to bring it back to 0 Evs, then re-EV train it, its stats will change according to the new EVs?

Well I'm not the best about competitive but here's my advice.

Gengar @ Gengarite/Focus Band/Focus Sash
Modest Nature
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Moves:
-Shadow Ball
-Dark Pulse
-Giga Drain/Energy Ball
-Thunderbolt

Gengar needs be Timid and should be using Sludge Bomb. It's very useful to hit Fairies and between Shadow Ball/Sludge Bomb/Focus Blast there's little that wants to try and switch-in once you get Gengar inside.

So:

-Shadow Ball
-Sludge Bomb
-Focus Blast
-Taunt / Wisp / Sub

Also consider using Life Orb as an item. But Sash isn't bad. A Scarf/Specs set with Trick would also work too.

Greninja @ Expert Belt
Timid Nature
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Sp. Att / 4 Def
Moves:
-Dark Pulse
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-U-Turn

Remaking Greninja

Greninja needs Protean as its ability (if you don't have one I'm sure you'll be able to pick one up in the trade section. Once you get a Protean one you basically tailor Greninja to meet your teams needs as Protean gives it STAB on every move. Ice Beam is usually a keeper though. Also Hydro Pump > Scald. Greninja excels at dealing very fast damage and Scald is a lot weaker than Hydro Pump. Its move choices will be from: Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, Dark Pulse, Grass Knot, Low Kick, Gunk Shot, Extrasensory and if you have them/can get it Hidden Power Fire (but don't worry if you can't, as you can see it has plenty of other choices and all get STAB!). Spikes or Toxic Spikes aren't bad options either since Greninja forces lots of switches with its incredible coverage, but they are lesser choices. U-turn is usable too of course.

Rotom (Wash) @ Wide Lens/Choice Scarf
Timid Nature
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SP. Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Moves:
-Signal Beam
-Hydro Pump
-Thunderbolt/Thunder
-Volt Switch

Definitely use Trick on it if you use a Choice item. And you could run Wisp for after you've tricked too. So Trick/Hydro Pump/Volt Switch/Wisp works fine. Building a bulky Rotom is also an option too.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Adamant Nature
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Sp. Def
Moves:
-Iron Head
-Superpower
-Acrobatics
-Bug Bite

Bullet Punch > Iron Head. Scizor loves Technician Bullet Punch and it pretty much makes it what it is. If you want a Flying move on Mega Scizor then Aerial Ace is stronger than Acrobatics because its holding an item. However you'd probably be better of replacing Acrobatics with Swords Dance. Also consider Knock Off over Superpower or Bug Bite. And Roost can definitely be needed too.

Those Def EVs should be moved to HP or split between HP and Speed. Scizor can also run a Speed iirc but off the top of my head I can't remember how much. I want to say enough to outspeed 44 Speec Rotom-W, but I could be wrong.

Qaugsire @ Leftovers
Impish Nature
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 Def / 204 Hp / 52 Atk
Moves:
-Waterfall
-Earthqauke
-Ice Punch
-Toxic

Quagsire absolutely needs Recover (egg move) and Scald. I'd replace Waterfall with Scald and Ice Punch with Recover. Go with a Relaxed nature if you do.

Spiritomb @
Modest Nature
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SP Atk / 4 def
Moves:
- Hypnosis
- Dream Eater
- Shadow Ball
- Dark Pulse/Energy Ball/Pain Split

Notes: Spiritomb is slow as John Goodman, 2 hit faints before I can do anything...

Remaking this Pokemon.

You'd probably be better of training a Sableye/Mega Sableye over it tbh. Has the same typing but provides the team with far more utility and also a potential win condition in Calm Mind Mega Sableye if you go that route (rather than utility Mega Sableye). If you want to stick with Spiritomb then a BlackGlasses/Dread Plate set with Pursuit, Sucker Punch, Shadow Sneak and Will-o-wisp seems ok in theory. Or even a RestTalk Calm Mind set with Dark Pulse. I don't know much about using Spiritomb but Hypnosis probably isn't the best strategy for it.

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Modest Nature
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Moves:
-Flamethrower
-Dragon Pulse
-Air Slash
-Earthqauke

Remaking Charizard.

Fire Blast over Flamethrower. Solar Beam over Dragon Pulse. Focus Blast over Air Slash. Roost over Earthquake.

Scolipede
Adament Nature
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Att / 252 Spd / 4 ?
Moves:
-Megahorn
-Earthqauke
-Poison Jab
-Rock Slide

Scolipede has a few potential sets. If you want to go more offensive then I'd personally use Life Orb with Megahorn, Swords Dance, Rock Slide and Earthquake. Poison Jab could fit in there if you have trouble with Fairies. Baton Pass can work too. Or just Spikes/Toxic Spikes for a lead set. Though most people expect pure Baton Pass with Scolipede and react accordingly. So a more offensive set might catch people off guard!

Mawile @ Mawilite
Brave Nature
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Att / 4 Def
Moves:
-Iron Head
-Thunder Punch
-Ice Punch
-Swords Dance

Notes about Mawile: TOO slow, 54 speed at lvl 50, I faint before I can use

Sword's Dance even once. Remaking this Pokemon

Mega Mawile is amazing, but I'd consider breeding another one with an Adamant nature and some speed EVs (I think mine has 124 iirc or it was it 132 icr, to outspeed neutral base 60s I think?). You absolutely need to be using Play Rough on it. And Sucker Punch. So I'd ditch Thunder and Ice Punch for those two moves. You can use Fire Fang over Iron Head too if you want to hit Ferrothorn hard. A SubPunch set is usable too if that takes your fancy. Mawile also gets Knock Off which is such a dumb move it's always worth considering especially when you have the highest Attack in the game.

Aegislash @ Life Orb
Brave Nature
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Att / 128 Def / 128 Sp. Def
Moves:
-King's Shield
-Shadow Sneak
-Swords Dance
-Sacred Sword

Notes on Aegislash: TOO Slow, I can't even get in a Sword's Dance. He has

63 speed at Lvl. 50... :/ Remaking this Pokemon

Consider the Special Attacking set. That way it doesn't need to set up a Swords Dance first and can just fires off Shadow Balls. Quiet nature needed on that one iirc. My Aegislash is Quiet.

Alakazam (M) @ Life Orb/Alazakazite
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
- Energy Ball
- Psyshock/Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam/Calm Mind/Recover

Needs Focus Blast otherwise bulky Steels just wall it. I'd drop Energy Ball unless you specifically have trouble from a Grass weak mon.

Dragonite @ Wide Lens
Modest Nature (+Sp Att, - Att)
Ability: Multiscale
252 Sp Att / 252 Spd / 4 HP
- Flamethrower
- Surf/Icebeam
- Hurricane
- Dragon Pulse/Focus Blast

Physical Dragon Dance with Lum Berry or Weakness Policy is better, special Dragonite worked better in Gen V where that was permanent rain. Multiscale allows it survive a lot of super effective hits and gives you +2 Attack if Weakness Policy. Though whenever I have used Dragonite I've preferred Lum Berry so your choice. Choice Band can work too. Make sure you use Extreme Speed + Outrage/Dragon Claw + Fire Punch/Earthquake on a physical set if you decide to try it.

Mawile-Mega @ Mawilite
Adament Nature (+ Att, -Sp Att)
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
- Swords Dance
- Iron Head
- ThunderPunch
- Ice Punch

Aegislash @ Life Orb/Shell Bell/Weakness Policy
Nature: Adamant (+Atk/-SpAtk)
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk/ 128 Def / 128 Sp. Def
- Swords Dance
- King's Shield
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword

See earlier comments about Mawile and Aegislash. Aegislash has 150 Sp.Atk like its Atk, so mixed/special sets can work. SubToxic was also a thing at one point but that was used by more experienced players to lure things like Mandibuzz I think, so if you're just starting out probably better to try the more basic and user-friendly sets.

Aggron @
Adament Nature
Ability: Rock head
252 Att / 252 Def / 4 Hp
- Earthqauke
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Tail
- Head Smash/Iron head

You're probably gonna want to use Mega Aggron if you're using Aggron. It has a better typing, ability and stats. Rock Head Head Smash is done better by Tyrantrum (if that was the allure of using Aggron definitely look into Tyrantrum which can even 2HKO Mega Slowbro with a Choice Band Head Smash!)

Tyranitaur @ Focus Sash
Adament Nature
Ability: Sand Stream
252 Att / 252 Sp Def / 4 HP
- Stone Edge
- Earthqauke
- Crunch
- Aerial Ace/Fire Fang/Fire Punch

Try Choice Band over Sash and give it Ice Punch. Mixed with Ice Beam also works for Landorus-T and Gliscor switch-ins if they realise you're Banded. Fire Blast is another option for the likes of Ferro and Skarm too. Those are more lure moves though so probably won't need them unless you play and notice yourself needing them. If you're going with Sash I'd at least try and slip Stealth Rock in there so it can act as a lead too. Smooth Rock with Sand Rush Excadrill is also a common T-tar set. Pursuit also works for catching Psychics trying to switch out. Scarf works on T-tar too but needs Jolly not Adamant.

Tyrantrum @ Life Orb
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 Atk
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Head Smash
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw

Oh you have Tyrantrum here after I mentioned it above! Well looks fine. I don't like Dragon Dance Tyrantrum personally, I think Band or Rock Polish are better. But with Dragon Dance Lum Berry is an option over Life Orb if you find it gets status'd a lot, it can also just provide ease in setting up that first Dragon Dance.

Hawlucha @ Power Herb
Ability: Unburden
EV's: 252 Att/252 Spe/4 Def
Nature: Adamant/Jolly
Moves:
- Hone Claws
- Sky Attack
- Hi Jump Kick
- Stone Edge

Acrobatics over Stone Edge and Swords Dance over Hone Claws imo. I mean Hone Claws can work but +2 allows Hawlucha to hit much harder than +1. I've used Hawlucha a lot in the past (one of my fav mons tbh) and another set that works is Substitute + Swords Dance while holding a Sitrus Berry to activate Unburden. Sub/SD/High Jump Kick/Acro is that set. You don't need to use Sky Attack w/ Power Herb to get Unburden with that set. Both work though, so choice is yours. I do like Sub + Sitrus personally.

Garchomp @
Trait: Rough Skin
Jolly Nature
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
-Substitute
-Sword Dance/ Hone Claws /Fire Fang
-Earthquake
-Outrage/Dragon Claw/Dragon Rush

Looks like it wants a Life Orb as an item. Or Leftovers if you want to abuse more Subs. Fire Blast works on Chomp too for Skarm and the like (go with Naive if so).

Swampert @Focus Sash/Leftovers
Adamant Nature (+Att, -SAtk)
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 SDef
-Waterfall
-Avalanche/Ice Punch
-Hammer Arm
-Earthquake

Seems ok. You want those Def EVs in HP though. Again, if you use Sash Stealth Rock can work as a lead, but I probably wouldn't use Sash on Swampert as pretty much only thing that will OHKO it are Grass moves. It's pretty bulky outside of that and lacks weaknesses so Sash seems a bit wasted. Choice Band would be good here. Or if you want a more tank one then Relaxed, with Leftovers and Scald, Earthquake, Ice Beam/Roar, Stealth Rock/Roar should be ok, can even slip Toxic in there if you wanted.

Charizard (M) @ Leftovers
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
- Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Thunder Punch
- Stone Edge/Dragon Claw

Charizard should be used as one of its Megas. Without its Megas it's really mediocre. Since this is Jolly you might as well turn it into a Mega Charizard X. Outrage/Flare Blitz/Swords Dance/Tailwind or Roost will work. If you can get Dragon Dance on it then you can use Dragon Dance over Swords Dance (it's somewhat better, but I'm not sure if you've already bred this which is why I said SD not DD).

Spiritomb (Physical) @ Black Glasses/Choice Band
Adament Nature
Ability: Pressure
Evs: 248 HP / 252 Atk /8 Spd
-Shadow Sneak
-Sucker Punch
-Pursuit/Foul Play
-Will-O-Wisp/Trick

Oh I suggested something like this earlier. :0 Didn't realise it got Trick, so Trick + Band seems p cool too.

Greninja @ Expert Belt
Hasty Nature
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Sp. Att / 4 Def
-Dark Pulse
-Scald
-Ice Beam
-U-Turn

Like the Greninja earlier it needs Protean. Life Orb > Expert Belt and Hydro Pump > Scald too. If you need a Protean Froakie try the trading sections of the forums, I'm sure plenty of people will be able to get you one.

Hopefully I've helped. A bit. Maybe.

Edit: Oh and definitely EV train using horde battles. It's so much faster and saves you money! Especially in ORAS where the hordes are guaranteed. You'll need Power Items + Pokerus to be most efficient with horde training though. But once you start it there's no going back, it's just too easy and fast.

Well I'm not the best about competitive but here's my advice.

You were a lot of help! Thanks! and yeah, I horde train with Macho Brace, I just finished EV Training my new Aegislash but Unfortunately I don;t have another dusk stone... *cries*

Mega Mawile is amazing, but I'd consider breeding another one with an Adamant nature and some speed EVs (I think mine has 124 iirc or it was it 132 icr, to outspeed neutral base 60s I think?). Mawile also gets Knock Off which is such a dumb move it's always worth considering especially when you have the highest Attack in the game.

Can you format your build for me? yaknow, usual list of moves evs etc.

SOwait, if I lets say have an EV trained lvl 50, and I use the Reset Bag to bring it back to 0 Evs, then re-EV train it, its stats will change according to the new EVs?
Yeah, its stats should adjust when you bring it to 0 EVs and again when you give it a different EV spread. And I second Zeb's suggestion on how to speed up your EV training.

Oh if you're still looking for a Dusk Stone I can help you out with one :)

That would be AWESOME! What is it worth?

If it helps at all, it seems you like to use some slower pokemon, I would suggest trying a half trick room team. For example, use the Mawile, Spitomb, and Aegislash with a trick room setter, like Reuniclus. I would switch out the Aegislash for something that has more bulk and can cover the others weaknesses. Put those three with some faster Pokemon, and you have your self a half trick room team. I used one to pretty good success earlier this year. Hope this helps!

No trouble at all, you can usually get them from Super Training. I should have one available to give next time you're around :)
