LHC preventing discoveries?

Doesn't that create a time paradox though? If we turned this machine on, and it some how created a ripple through time to cause the machine in the past to malfunction so it couldn't turn on, then wouldn't we be unable to turn it on to thus create the ripple in the first place? Or does the theory of alternate dimensions work here?

I'm thinking more the ripple in time happened from the LHC of the future as its trying to warn us not to do so. While that would mean its trying to prevent itself it is still running to make sure we don't let it happen. Strange analogy here but think about Charmed when they prevented Wyatt turning evil. Don't ask how I know this.

This is pure pseudoscience. Complete sci-fi if you ask me.

I don't claim to be a theoretical physicist though.

Oooh, quantum immortality at work.

For those that don't know, quantum immortality is believed to be a consequence of the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics (which happens to be the one I believe in since I feel that it resolves the EPR paradox and time travel paradoxes, possibly all of them). If the future of the Universe is formulated as an infinite number of possible futures, then your consciousness will always follow a path on which you will continue to exist (other people might perceive you to die in their frame of reference however). For example, if you put a gun up to your head and pulled the trigger, you'll cease to exist in most of the futures, but there's a tiny chance that the gun won't fire and you'll survive. It doesn't matter how slim that chance is, as long as it's not zero, you'll continue to exist in your frame of reference since your consciousness will follow the path where you survive. Of course, nobody should try this since it's only a theory!

In short, the LHC won't start up, because if it did, we'd all die. Since no one can perceive their own death, it won't start.

That sounds like either
1. Bullcrap
2. A made up story to scare people about it ("OMG THE WORLD WILL END BLACK HOLE!")

Maybe it's god coming from the future to prevent us from eating from the tree of knowledge, or maybe the machine just wasn't built 100% perfectly. I'll go with the more simple of the two explanations for now. At least until more evidence is provided.
